Emmett's POV
Everyone watched in horror as the tiger stepped out into the hallway. I didn't even know a tiger shifter was in my territory. How could I not know this?
I carefully stepped over and waved at the few people closest to the doors that separated the hallway to the nurses' station. They slowly stepped back as the tiger looked down with a shake and pawed at his eyes. It looked as though he was trying to get ahold of himself, but I had a feeling it wasn't going to happen, like what happened to Sam.
I was able to get a few doors closed that had patients inside as quickly but quietly as I could while the beast was distracted and turned away. I looked into the next room, however, pausing to see a dark figure with green eyes low to the ground. A deep growl sounded as I stepped back and looked back at the tiger at the end of the hall in the corner of my eye, not wanting to turn away from the wolf closest to me.
His dark yellow and green eyes burned into me as I looked between the two beasts. The wolf in the room inched closer as the tiger turned his attention to me, fully ready to pounce.
Their eyes looked the same, extremely thin colored rings surrounded by pure black. The same darkness I felt coming from Sam, was now here, filling the air around me like a thick fog.
That woman's words came to me then. She died laughing because she knew this would happen, and I just brought them all here without thinking of the consequences, these consequences.
"I'm sorry," I said to the large animals, closing my eyes as I shook my head. I wanted to save them, but it looks like that won't be happening right now.
I heard the wolf next to me get closer as the tiger roared in a charge, but I didn't wait for another second as I turned and ran back towards the nurses' station. No way in hell would I be able to take on a feral tiger and wolf at the same time.
I could hear the wolf jump into the tiger behind me, but I didn't look back to see what was happening as Brian threw the double doors shut behind me. He quickly stoved a metal poll, used to hold IVs, into the handles as the two beasts fought each other on the other side.
"Lock all the doors to the rooms the others are in now!" I yelled at the few remaining people standing there from shock or feared to move.
They hurried, snapping out of their daze at my command, and started shutting the doors around us as Vincent walked in from the elevators.
"Is that a fucking tiger?" He asked, stopping as it roared, slamming into the door.
I pushed the doors, trying to hold them closed as Mason ran over to help us.
"It's gonna take more than this to hold the door closed," he said, kicking the locks on the bottom of the doors. "What do we do now?"
"I don't think we have the option of waiting it out. The emergency stairs going to other floors are at the end of that hall, and if he breaks through, he could easily attack the other patients and staff," I said to them. "I really don't want to fight a tiger today. How about you guys?"
They looked at me with wide eyes, silently telling me no.
"Viv said Sam lost control because his wolf reverted to its feral stage," Brian said as he stepped away from the doors. "They could all be like this, and sooner or later, they will shift into feral beasts like these two. How did you make Sam turn back?"
"Feral? We haven't heard of a feral since the Dark War when the witches lifted that curse for helping them. How did the Hunters revert them?" Vincent asked in confusion.
"How did the Hunters stop this?" I asked the man hiding under the desk. I forgot about him until now. It was easy to do, I smelled it for a moment, but he was a sheep shifter. Being a shifter of prey, they had the ability to hide their scent from predators like us.
"If one of the predators shifted too early, they just killed them immediately if the non-shift couldn't stop it in time. I don't want to be here!" He yelled and hid under the desk even more.
"What is this non-shift you speak of?" Vincent asked him as he tried to pull the cowering man out.
"It's the purple stuff they had in the IVs back in the cages!" He cried in fear as he kicked Vincent to try to stop him.
Purple stuff? Like what was licking from Sam's eye before he shifted?
"We don't have time for this!" Mason yelled as the tiger banged into the door again, starting to split the wood. "What stopped Sam?"
"I- I just knocked him out by accident. I don't know if he will still be the same when he opens his eyes, though. He could immediately shift back to his wolf form when he wakes up."
"It could work for now," Brian suggested. "If we knock him out. It could stop him long enough for us to move him somewhere else and hopefully come up with a better plan later."
We all looked at each other before my phone started to ring. "Yeah?"
"Alpha! A- a wolf is on the 5th floor!" The woman yelled as I heard a bark and screaming.
I looked up to see Mason was already in a panic. Felix, Baxter, and Sam were all on that floor. "Go," I told him and pushed on the door as it creaked again from another slam of the tiger. "Brian and I will take care of this. You and Vincent go downstairs now!"
They nodded and ran to the elevators. I wanted to go and protect my mate down there as well, but I needed to take care of this beast first. I hope Zack was still down there in case it made its way into his room.
I looked over to see one of the nurses run back. "The rooms are all locked that we could get to, Alpha," she said, looking in panic. "I found another, but I was able to close the door before they got out. What do we need to do next?"
"We need to knock out a tiger. Look for something we can do that with while we hold the door."
She looked around like she had no idea what I was talking about before running off. I hoped to the Goddess she would be back soon as the tiger jumped into the door again. I don't know how much longer these doors would hold.
"Alpha, I think we are gonna have to go in there," Brian said after a few more hits and looked over in worry.
I was trying to give her time to come back, but I guess that wasn't going to happen. I nodded to Brian as he stepped away from the door. Time to get this over with.
"Alpha! Will these work?" The nurse ran back, holding a few syringes in hand. "This should knock him out, but you'll need to inject him yourself. You... might need two... or maybe three? I'm not sure how much it would take for a tiger."

So much is going on. In this world, Tigers are much stronger than wolves. A normal tiger shifter has about the same strength as an alpha wolf, which is why Emmett doesn't really want to fight with him, plus he doesn't want to kill him because he knows that the man behind the animal tried to stay in control at first but his hungry animal was too powerful for him.
The only reason they don't have to worry about the large cats in the country where Emmett lives is because of the climate and area they live in. Tigers (referring to Siberian tigers to be exact) prefer the cold, rainy, mountain jungles over the hot forests and loud, nosy cities like where Emmett is from.
Many fear the looks and strength of the large, beastly cats but in truth, they live in mountain tribes that live off of and protect the mountain their 'Streak' (a large group of tigers) rule over, they rarely ever leave their territory unless to trade goods with other surrounding mountain tribes.
The Hunters had to go over months of hash cold climate training in order to get just one of them. Many dead from Hypothermia and froze to death in just the training stage alone.
