Emmett's POV
I looked over, holding the needles as Brian held the metal poll. I take a deep breath to prepare myself.
We don't have time to find another way to inject these drugs into the tiger shifter. The best way we could think of was going in while in human form to inject them by hand. As alpha and leader of this territory, it was my job to do desire Brian's protesting, but I was stronger than him and faster than him.
"Remember, the drugs might not last long in a tiger, Alpha," the nurse reminded me. "We will need to move fast once he is down, and you may need to inject two or three for it to work on a beast that big."
I looked back at Brian and nodded once, giving him the okay. He shook his head like he couldn't believe he was doing this but pulled it out anyway and opened the door for me.
Immediately, I was met with the tiger's mad black eyes, making me tense. The whiskers pulled up as his nose wrinkled. He hissed loudly at me in a warning. Massive, blood-stained paws stepped toward me as I popped the cover off one of the needles.
The wolf that tried to jump at me just moments ago, was ripped to pieces across the flood, half-eaten. Blood was smeared all over the floor, but now that I was able to see past his teeth, I could see he too was skinny, looking almost like a thin sheet of fur was laid carefully over each bone.
It truly broke my heart to see such a strong beast suffer in such a way, but I vowed right there that I would help him. I would help stop this suffering for him and all the others.
He lunged as I stepped into the doors so Brian could close it off from the rest of the floor. If this ended badly for me, I didn't want the beast to turn to them immediately or turn his focus to them as I tried to inject him.
The tiger missed as I dodged, hitting the doors once again. I thought for sure they were going to break but thank Luna they still held together, barely. He roared and tried to swat me away as I tried to get closer, but I pulled my face away just in time. I just needed an opening to stab him with the needles. I didn't need to fight him.
A tiger was stronger than a wolf, but we were faster and smaller, and without my pack to work with me, I needed to make each move more carefully and remember my surroundings on my own. I let the beast think he had the upper hand as I backed into a wall, but as he lunged at me again, I rolled to the side and jagged him with one of the needles.
He hissed in surprise and smacked my arm with great force. His claws ripped into my skin, making me drop the other needles as I rolled away to dodge another swing. Any closer, he would have broken the bone with that hit.
The yellow beast shook his head, hopefully feeling the drugs start to kick in as I watched his movements carefully. Unfortunately, he was now between me and the other needles I needed.
My arm was already healing as I stood tall. We looked each other in the eyes, neither of us backing down.
I started walking to the side, and so did he, circling each other. If I kept him focused on just me, then maybe he wouldn't notice them on the floor, but I wasn't sure how much intelligence a feral beast had. It's been 300 years since we cared to learn the bases of them since the witches lifted the curse, but from what I remembered, all they cared about was killing and the taste of fresh, warm, blood-filled meat. Maybe they didn't have much, or maybe, they only had what they needed to hunt for survival.
In the corner of my eye, I could see the needles were close, but I dared not take my eyes off him. His eyelids were getting heavy, but I didn't think sleep would overtake him yet. I needed to finish this quickly.
I took a deep breath and took off for the needles, sliding on the flood, and grabbed two of them as fast as I could. The tiger knew my move though, as he jumped on top of me. I stabbed him again without hesitation. His large fangs dug into my shoulder, bones snapping as I yelled in pain. His jaw kept tightening, digging his long fangs into me, but his grip started to lessen after a few seconds. He could no longer stand as he fell to the ground, taking me down with him.
I jabbed him with the third needle, just to be safe, and he shifted back into human form, finally releasing me as his teeth retracted to human form. Blood ran down my back and chest quickly. I pulled my arm to my chest with heavy breathing. It never felt good to be bitten by anything, but with fangs as long and thick as those, I never felt this much pain.
Brian and the nurse came in soon after as they tried to stop the bleeding. My healing was slowed by broken bones, and I could feel myself start to get lightheaded as I blinked a few times to try to focus.
"Stop," I told them, pushing their hands away. "You need to move him. Lock him in the prison cell at the packhouse." It was the only place I knew that could hold him if he shifted back when he woke up again. "Get them ready for the others... while you're there too."
"I'm not leaving you yet, Alpha. The bleeding is still bad," Brian argued, putting pressure on the wounds again.
"It will heal soon enough. If he wakes up while moving him, it could release him into the city. You need to get moving now. That's an order Beta."
He looked at me, gritting his teeth, and I could hear a low growl he tried to hold back, but he did as I said and stood from the ground. I moved my good arm over the wounds to try and keep the pressure as best as I could while he picked up the man from the ground. The blood still ran down my back, but I ignored it, feeling the pain start to lessen already, or maybe I was just getting used to it by this point.
The man had a long body build. If he wasn't taken and starved by the Hunters I would imagine he would have a big muscle build as Brian did. His black hair was the same as the stripes that covered his tiger form, but that was all I could focus on before Brian carried him off with the nurse following close behind to help him.
I took a deep breath as I adjusted myself against the wall. We would have to move all the others out of the hospital and into a place with stronger walls and doors soon.
The packhouse didn't have enough cells for them, and the interrogation rooms had two-way mirrors that could break depending on what shifter they were, like a tiger, for instance, could break through them without a problem, but we needed to make something work. We needed to help them but still keep everyone safe.
My eyes started to close, my head heavy. All I remembered was calling Mason before everything went black.

"-pha. Alpha Emmett! Fuck, Emmett, wake up, come on."
My eyes snapped open as I was jolted awake. Mason looked with panic in his eyes, but as soon as they met with mine, he sighed with relief.
"Fucking hell Emmett," he cursed, leaning down to push his forehead against mine. "I thought you were a goner for a moment. Where are Brian and the shifter?" He asked, pulling away again as he looked around.
"I... I ordered him to take the tiger to the packhouse and lock him up," I told him as I moved my injured arm. My head was still foggy.
"Don't move too much. You're as pale as a ghost right now."
"How long was I out for?"
"Not long. I felt you try to link with me a few moments ago and came back up after I made sure the floor was clear."
"What happened downstairs? Is everyone okay?" I asked, remembering that he and Vincent had to run down there.
"One of the nurses was killed. Then the wolf tried to attack that human boy, Baxter's mate, but thankfully he ran into Felix's room. I got there just after Felix shifted. I'm sorry, Alpha, I- I tried to knock her out like you said worked with Sam, but she got ahold of Felix when he jumped in front of the human boy, and I just- I couldn't-,"
"It's okay, Mason. I understand but thank you for trying. Are Felix and Steven okay? What about Sam?"
"Felix has a bite on his front leg, but with his healing back to normal, it should heal soon, and Steven was untouched. Vincent and Baxter are with them. Zack is still with Sam. I told him to stay there as well before heading up here."
I leaned my head back against the wall. Thank the goddess they are all okay. We need to get them all moved before anyone else gets hurt or killed, or worse, someone got out into my city. I couldn't sit around any longer with so much to do.

Don't forget to like this chapter.
So glad Emmett is okay and a plan is starting to go into motion. Let's hope this works safely.
