Third person POV- 5 years ago
The cell door opened as Sam was roughly thrown to the hard ground. The palms of his hands scrapped against the concrete as he hissed, but his body was too weak to stop his fall.
He stayed there unmoving until the sounds of the men faded down the hallway before moving slowly to sit against the wall. Blinking as the room still blurred around him. He couldn't help but wish for death..., food..., water. Anything that would help stop the pain throughout his body.
"More shots?" a voice from the other side of the wall asked.
"More than the normal amount," he answered as he lay down and turned to face the wall. The broken stone at the bottom of the wall started to move as he weakly reached to pull it out, revealing the familiar blood-red eyes he had grown accustomed to seeing. "I don't know how long I can keep this up, Markus."
"Give me your hand. I'll try to take some of that poison out," Markus offered as he moved closer to the hole.
Tears filled Sam's dull eyes as he looked at his only friend. "What's the point when they will just shoot more into me later? I can't even feel my wolf anymore. I'm so empty inside. Just take all my blood so you can restore your strength and save yourself," he said as tears started to fall on the dusty ground. His bruised body couldn't stop shivering. "I have nothing to live for, but you do. You have a clan to return to, a home out of here awaiting your return. Take my life so you can leave this place. Please?" he begged him, hoping his friend would end his years of suffering.
Markus chuckled as he reached into the hole to caress the boy's cheek as best as he could. "Why would I do that? I've grown very fond of you, little pup. If I am to leave this place, you will be with me, even if I have to carry you. I want you to see the beauty of the world outside of these walls, just like I've promised."
Sam lay his hand over the vampire's and held it against his cheek. Even though it was cold, it had more warmth than the ground beneath him. "I'll never see the world outside of these walls. I can't even remember what the sun on my face feels like or the sound of rain you speak of in your stories. I'm so tired." He closed his eyes.
"Give me your hand. I'll help you fall asleep."
Markus started to pull his hand out as their fingers linked together. He helped guide Sam's hand through the hole and kissed a cold finger. His fangs grew longer, and the veins grew red around his eyes as he pricked the finger against the sharp end. Sam hissed slightly as his hand shook. The blood was warm against Markus's tongue as he began drinking it. Feeling his own hungry grow more.
He could easily take the boy's life and regain his strength once the drugs faded from his own body. He could leave this place before they knew what happened. He should be that selfish, yet he couldn't.
He had watched the boy in the cell next to him grow into a young man over the years. He shared stories of the world outside and watched through this same hole as his golden brown eyes lit up in hope at the idea that one day, he would see such a world. He made a promise to that hopefully little pup many years ago to show him, and he swore by it.
Sam's hand grew limp in his slumber as Markus drank more than his normal amount. He stopped sucking when the drugs in Sam's blood began to tingle throughout his body. He licked the small wound so it would heal faster. "Soon, my little pup. You will feel the warmth of the sun again. I will free us both." He moved closer to lick the palm of Sam's hand that scraped against the floor to help heal more of his pain before kissing it softly. "Soon."
♠♠♠
Sam sat against the wall where he normally sat. Markus had been too quiet the past few days. He couldn't help thinking his friend was mad at him for begging him to take his life and save himself.
