Sam's POV
I got dressed quickly, not feeling comfortable being around Brian naked. His stares were cold when Emmett looked away as he got dressed, and Samuel wasn't happy about it either. I had to fight him in my head because Brian was part of Emmett's pack, and I didn't want to hurt anyone to prove Emmett's father right.
My head was killing me as we started walking back to the house when I drifted into deep thought. Should I tell Emmett about what happened? I should but not right now, not here in the middle of the woods. But what would happen if I did tell him? Brian is still Viv's mate. It would just create too many problems for everyone.
I just looked up at them both. Emmett and Brian were walking next to each other as I walked behind them. Brian was in his wolf form, and I didn't want to be too close to him.
They were talking about something, but I couldn't understand what because I could only hear Emmett talking.
Suddenly a large black crow landed in front of us, making us all jump to a halt. It started crowing loudly, flapping its wings, making Brian's wolf step back and bark.
Brian looked between the crow and Emmett before Emmett turned around, and his eyes narrowed at me. "Sam," he said in a firm voice.
I looked up as our eyes met, but he walked closer and lifted my head ever more with a finger under my chin.
"These kiss marks are from me, but these bruises aren't," he said as his voice grew cold and his eyes started to darken in anger.
I couldn't help but quickly look at Brian in shock as Emmett looked closer at my neck. Small bruises like that would have healed by now. There's no way they would still be there. Brian's wolf eyes grew wide as he backed away.
"So, do you want to tell me what happened?" Emmett asked, letting go of my chin. Brian slowly took another step back with lowered ears. "Take one more step, and I'll rip your head off where you stand!" Emmett threatened him, making Brian cowardly freeze in place as his tail lowered between his legs.
He looked back at me, waiting for an answer, but I didn't know what to say as I looked at the ground. I was so caught off guard, a lump formed in the back of my throat.
"I- I don't want to hurt anyone," I told him and took a step back. "And I don't want to hurt Viv if you mark me. I know you don't want to do it, but I..., I don't want to take that chance, so I don't want you to mark me either." It hurt so much to say that. Like my whole heart just broke in two.
Emmett looked at me with wide eyes in shock before his face turned into hurt and sadness. "You think I don't ever want to mark you? To never make you fully mine until my death? Of course, I want to, Sam. It took everything in me not to do it while we were back there. I wanted you to mark me too."
"Then why didn't you? Did you know it would hurt Viv? Is it because I'm some wolf freak, and the bond would darken the links?" I yelled at him with tears running down my face.
Emmett nearly took a step back. "Because I'm scared to lose you. I love you, Sam, but we need to understand what's going on with you first. That's why I wanted to come out here with you. You're like nothing we've ever seen before. So I had someone who understands a little more of what's happening watching us all night. That, and because I know you aren't ready to be Luna yet. That's a lot of responsibility, and you need to focus on getting better before caring for a whole pack. Also, who told you it would hurt Viv if I marked you? What does any of this have to do with her?"
I looked over at Brian, who growled low as he looked at the crow and shifted. "I told him because it's true. He is dangerous. Revere told me everything I needed to know," he said confidently and without fear.
