Dream went through the instructions in his head again, making sure he didn't fuck up a single thing. Dream couldn't mess up the revival, no matter how stressed he was or how much it hurt. He had already revived Wilbur and Tommy. The revival with Wilbur was more so.. a test. As much as he did want the brunette alive, he also needed to know if the book worked.

It had been a success, surprising Dream. He hadn't trusted it would work at all, even with him being a demigod. He expected Tommy's revival to be the end of his life. He had heard of someone using the book before but they died after the second use, so he was expecting the same.

Dream searched his mind for what could've made him survive, eventually remembering what Exdee had told him the day it had given Dream the book. The day he began to discover that he did have something.

"Dream. This book has the power to revive others. But be warned, a human can only use this book once, and you, a demigod, only twice. Do not use it more unless you wish to pay the price."

Dream knew he shouldn't push it. He knew that, he wasn't stupid. After people found out about how Wilbur was revived and Tommy was as well, they gathered together and came up with an idea. They decided that they'd see if Dream would revive their pets and anyone else who might have died- excluding those they felt needed to stay dead- as a way to redeem himself.

They had no clue of what consequences this had for Dream.. Tommy went first, bringing Tubbo and Wilbur with him out of fear. He had Henry revived. Dream didn't feel any of the side effects until an hour had passed. Dream had doubled over and started coughing wildly, gasping for air in between coughs.

Then he revived Friend, feeling a shock of pain run through him along with nearly another coughing fit. Then there was Carl, who had suffocated just a few days ago. He coughed up a bit of blood that time. The others continued to bring their dead pets back. Clarencio, Fungi, Leonard, Beenus, Sketchers, Harold, Beelloon, and all the rest.

Well, not all of them. Some people had moved on and didn't want to bring their pets back, saying they deserved to sleep. After the last one, Dream could barely move. He felt weak, he was exhausted, he was lightheaded, he was far too hot to be healthy, and those were only the most noticeable symptoms he was experiencing.

After Dream had revived all of their pets, they decided to bring him Patches, so he could revive her. They felt bad that he couldn't revive his own but he had revived everyone else's. He tried to revive her, he tried desperately. He couldn't even look straight at her, but he tried. He eventually gave up, closing his eyes tightly. That's when it appeared once again.

The god who had warned Dream. Exdee kneeled down in front of Dream, placing its hand on his forehead. "I warned you, did I not? So what reason could one such as you have for this?" It questioned. Dream tried to figure out what he was looking at, things slowly becoming clearer. "Ex..dee?" Dream breathed out, weakly reaching out to the god.

It gently guided his hand to rest on its shoulder. "Yes. I'm here, Dream," Dream smiled at it softly. "I did it because-because... if they hate me, the l-least I can do is... save what they love.." Dream stammered, wincing a bit. "...Foolish young demigod. Foolish. Reckless. Idiotic," Exdee repeated insulting words at the statement Dream had provided.

"Should have called for a god. Should have called for me. Stupid. Ridiculous," Dream smiled at it again. "I'm sorry.. Exdee.." Dream apologized. "I will not accept your last words to be 'I'm sorry'. Allow me to help you or say something else," Exdee was slowly losing its handle on remaining formal. "Go-Goodbye, big brother.." Dream's eyes closed. They weren't siblings, but they may as well of been..

 "Farewell, my brother."
