Dream hadn't been seen by any of the smp members for... nobody could recall how long, but it had definitely been a few months at least. Everyone had been curious as to where he could've gone, although it was just a couple of people who grew to be concerned. That group included George, Techno, Phil and Karl.
Techno, Phil and Dream were like a family, just without being related. Karl and George were both good friends of Dream, everyone knew that. Everyone knew the feral boys, Quackity, Sapnap, George, Karl and Dream. Everyone who wasn't concerned just said that Dream could handle himself, and that was usually true.
Of course, Dream was still human- or something close to it- and he had his limits. George knew about how Dream wasn't able to be on his own or away from his general area of living for longer than a month or two without at least trying to go back.
Karl knew that Dream hated the idea of not talking to them at least twice a month, this was the first time Dream hadn't sent him two messages every month, at the bare minimum. Techno and Phil would get weekly updates from him, at their request. They hadn't gotten an update since a month after Dream had left.
So it was only natural all of them were concerned, though it wasn't until the group looked around for Dream once again, splitting up, that they knew something had happened to their friend. George was the one who ran into him. Dream had his sword in his hand and his mask was nowhere to be seen.
His eyes looked darker then they had when he left.. and he didn't see his best friend's smile at all, the smile he had never seen the blonde without. Dream didn't even look at him as he kept walking, only looking back when George had grabbed his wrist. Dream simply set to work on freeing his wrist- he had been told not to gain attention, therefore murder wasn't an option at the moment.
At least, that's what he decided and that was how he perceived the orders. He had been told to complete his mission without any failure, failure meant he went against orders, going against orders wasn't allowed. If this was the Dream that George knew, he would be complaining about how tight George's hand was, or have some emotion in his face- there was nothing, absolutely no feelings, nothing. "Dream?"
Dream didn't react in the slightest, keeping his eyes trained on the task at hand. "Dream!" He yelled, still getting no reaction. George searched for something that could be messing with Dream, reaching for his communicator after a moment. Maybe he could find who did it. Dream's eyes shot to the communicator.
George held it away from him, accidentally dropping it after a little while of trying to keep it away. When he dropped it, he stumbled and stepped on it, completely destroying it. Dream sat on his knees- if the fulfillment of his order wasn't able to be reported and he couldn't get a new order, he had to immediately assume whoever had stopped it from happening is the new one he must report to and obey.
"Dream? Where the fuck were you?" George looked down at Dream, confusion running through him. "Outside of the smp's borders, sir. Master Giahn's estate, sir, was my original place of housing. Most recently Madam Hanl's manor. Madam Hanl's eldest son, Young Master Jan, sent me here," Dream didn't look up at him, keeping his eyes on the floor as he answered George.
The brunette was taken aback by the use of 'sir', 'master' and 'madam'. "Dream. What the actual shit are you saying? Explain, where were you, why are you calling me 'sir', and who the fuck are you talking about?" Dream didn't say anything for a moment, bowing down to the ground, as if apologizing.
"I was with my previous owners, master. Apologies for the mistake, such a low life like I should not be assuming his master's preference. It will not happen again. Master Giahn is my first owner, he allowed me to look valuable enough to buy. Madam Hanl was my owner before you, master," Dream didn't hesitate in the slightest to call him master, or call anyone his owner, and George's concern skyrocketed.
What the hell happened to him?
"Stand up and just-just shut up, we're going to see the others.." George hated the way Dream instantly rose without a word, keeping his eyes trained on the ground. He really hoped one of the others would know what to do. The small group gathered up again, but with Dream this time.
"Dream? Holy shit, you scared us! Where were you??" Karl exclaimed, taking note of how Dream didn't even look at any of them. "Dream?" Phil spoke up, keeping his eyes on Dream as he tried to figure out what was making him not react to them in even the slightest way.
"I broke his communicator and for some reason he thinks I'm his 'master' now..? He's also said something about two other people.. Dream, what were the names you mentioned earlier?" George questioned, although he didn't get an answer. "Dream, can you please tell me?" Dream heard that as an order to speak, so he obeyed.
"Master Giahn, Madam Hanl and Young Master Jan," He recited the names he said earlier, not daring to say anything else. "Giahn... I feel like I've heard that name before.." Phil hummed to himself, trying to remember where he had heard it. "Was there anybody else before Hanl and after Giahn, Dream?" George questioned, Dream nodding.
"Their names?.." Dream nodded again, speaking up this time. "Mistress Ann, Master Yohb, Sir Lhan, M'lord Fih, Madam Qiu, Young Master Phfin, Empress Eai, Lord Jin, Master Uyn," He began, he remembered each of their names clearly, as well as the titles he had to address them by. He listed them in order as well.
Techno recognized some of them, and it seemed Phil did as well. "..Giahn, as in the leader of the..." Techno tried to speak, but he stopped- he wasn't about to let his voice waver while speaking, and he'd rather not speak then have his act break. "..'Trading' company, it is him," Phil finished, gently holding Techno's hand to provide some comfort- he needed it.
Almost everyone had heard at least a bit about the Giahn Trading Company, not everyone knew what it actually was, though. "We need to get our Dream back.. We have to try, at least," Karl stated, determined to help their friend.
That's how and why they ended up gathering everyone they could in the community house, explaining the situation- they left out the names of the people Dream had mentioned, as well as the company. "..Why would he call George his 'master', though?.. Surely he didn't do anything to cause that?" One of them questioned, looking directly at Dream who sat completely still.
"I uh, I broke his communicator but I didn't do anything else. I think," George responded. "Does he really listen to you though?" George nodded, taking a deep breath. "What do you want me to ask him to do?.." George hated the idea of making Dream do something, but he knew he had to show something was wrong.
"..Gather some wood? If he does it than we can continue the discussion," He sighed in relief, he was glad it was something like that. "Can you go cut down two stacks of logs? It doesn't matter what kind," George winced at how Dream immediately bowed and then stood up, not acknowledging anybody else in the room.
The younger of the two walked out, getting to work as soon as he could. Everyone followed him. At one point, he accidentally missed the tree a bit and cut himself, but he didn't so much as pause for a second. He kept cutting the wood. "Stop. You cut yourself," George quickly walked over. Dream stayed quiet.
"Was that enough proof for you?" George spoke as he carefully covered the new cut with a bandage. They went back to the community house, all of them. "What the fuck are we meant to do.." Sapnap swore quietly- Bad didn't say anything, he believed it was alright given the current situation.
"I say we try to see if there's something he won't do- maybe, maybe that will snap him out of whatever this is," George hated that idea, as did most of the others, but they couldn't think of anything else. "Before we do that, we should hear from him what happened," Another spoke up, multiple others agreeing. The brunette clenched his fists, taking a deep breath.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and was grateful for it. George hated how he was the one who had to tell Dream to do things. "Dream, tell us what happened while you were away from the main smp," Dream looked up at George for a moment before looking down again. "Master. I am afraid Master Giahn had ordered me not to say anything," Dream was forced to deny the order.
This was the only exception to never disobeying- if it went against his first owner's order, he couldn't fulfill it. "I don't care what he said, Dream. Tell us. He isn't your 'master' anymore," George swore he would've ran away right then and there if he could. Dream bowed. "Yes master, my mistake," Everyone waited for Dream to start talking again.
"A month after being away, master, I was taken in by Master Giahn. At first I was troublesome, I hadn't seen that he simply wanted to help me and give me value," Dream didn't show so much as a hint of emotion, even now.
"Due to my behavior, I was disciplined quite often until master Giahn had successfully fixed me. He convinced other masters and mistresses that I was valuable enough to buy, and so they did. Mistress Ann was the first to take interest,"
"I had remained with her for a week or so before she had come to the conclusion that she didn't need lowly scum like me anymore, and therefore I was sold to Master Yohb," Dream didn't go into details about anything, seeing as he was ordered to explain what happened, not to state every single detail no matter how unnecessary.
"Details this time," Dream acknowledged his new order.
Dream stared blankly at the floor as he had been ordered to do whenever he was with somebody who hadn't specifically told him to look at them. "Dream. This is your new owner, Yohb. You will report to him and obey everything he says, that's an order," Dream nodded, bowing slightly. "Speak," Dream nodded once again.
"Yes, Mistress," He didn't react when he was pushed forwards, allowing himself to fall to the floor- he didn't make any moves to get up until he was told to. "You're covered in dirt and dust. Get up and go clean yourself right away, return to me as soon as you're done. Understand?" Dream kept his eyes on the ground. "Yes, Master," The other rolled his eyes.
