"Oh, are you the family?" The doctor asked upon seeing four people enter his office, Jiang Cheng then turned his head only to see his parents, his sister, and his... mate.

"Yes, doc," Ziyuan answered for them and proceed to approach his son and gave him a warm hug, the newly turned omega hugged her back tho a little awkward and somewhat surprised to see his family enter. 

"And who is the mate?" the doctor asked once again. 

Eyes draw into Xichen who awkwardly raised his hand and approached the desk but not near the omega. 

The doctor nods, pulling out an envelope which looks like the results of his examination, and handed it to the alpha. Xichen took the envelope as carefully as he can as if the envelope contains something that will explode in front of him. Then he opens them, breath hitching as he takes out pieces of paper. He gulps, now facing the paper, his heart beating nervously as he read every word written with his eyes until it darted to the result. His alpha is jumping in joy but the reality is binding him down, the possibilities and all that will hurt his omega ran through his overthinking mind. "Omega..." he mumbles softly.

Ziyuan's brows furrowed, hearing his mumbles made her grab the paper from him and read through the results, her eyes are wide upon reading the word 'omega', then she eyes the doctor as if asking him what do the results mean.

The doctor smiles at them, "Well, please have a seat," he offered, pointing at the available seat inside the office. "The results say he's a recessive omega," he started, "We run tests just like the one they took when they were in high school and the result came out as a recessive omega," he added. 

"But how, doc?" Yanli asked curiosity piqued. 

"As you can see, the cause of Mr. Jiang here, suddenly coming into heat after living as a beta maybe cause with few reasons. Since his case is a rare case, 1 over 10,000 people changes into either an omega or an alpha every year, there were only a few records. One is, since they're a recessive type, their secondary gender might have developed late. Another one, you know that an omega and an alpha get attracted to each other when they are fated pairs?" he asked and they nod vigorously, "The omega or the alpha of the person awakened because of his fated pair and vice versa,"

Xichen's brows furrowed. Does that mean....?

"That are the only recorded results, the matter of Secondary Gender changing is still being researched as of now since we still don't have much information about it," he concluded. "For now, since he just turned into an omega, expect abnormality of his heat cycle," he added, "It may occur longer than normal heats and in an unexpected time, be sure to always have your medicine on your pocket, or you can just ask your mate for help since you're already bonded, it's much better to reduce the itching," the doctor chuckled when he notices Xichen's and Wanyin's face reddened. 

"Now, I'll prescribe you heat suppressants. I expect you to come for your scheduled check-up so we can monitor any abnormalities in your body. Understood?" he reminded Jiang Cheng which the omega answered with a nod. 

"Any more further questions?" the room fell silent, Ziyuan never asked any more since she was convinced by the explanation tho she still find it absurd. Fengmian on the other hand was neutral, in the end, he's still his son. Yanli was intrigued by this case, however. Wanyin didn't ask as well as he was enlightened with it all. While Xichen has something in his mind that he wants to ask, but bites his tongue. 

"Then Mr. Wanyin, you can go now. I know this is a little hard for you since you lived as a beta until now but I hope you'll be well," the doctor said, patting the omega by the shoulder. 

They thanked the doctor as they stood from their seats. As they were about to retreat, Xichen suddenly spoke about what kept bugging his mind the whole time. 

"Doc.." he started, making them all turn to him, brows furrowed in curiosity. The alpha gulps, building his courage to ask the one question, he hides his shaky hands away from the family's eyes by clasping them together in front of him. "I-is there a way a b-bond can b-be broken?" he stutters. 

Ziyuan's eyes were wide, fury boils her blood which Fengmian immediately notice and held her hand, he shakes his head at her as if telling her to not jump into conclusions. While Yanli gasped but cupped her mouth to not produce a sound. And Wanyin was surprised at the question, he doesn't expect to hear the words coming out of the alpha, it was as if his heart were punctured multiple times, it was just a question but he felt his whole body trembled. Does he doesn't want him to be his mate? Does he think he doesn't deserve the alpha to be bonded to him? It was hurting like hell but he bites his tears back. No, if he wants their bond to be broken, then let him. In the end, all of this was just an accident. 

The doctor sighs after hearing his question, he looked at the devastated look of the omega and then back at the alpha, "There is. But it's crucial. We don't recommend bond removal since it's life-threatening. Both parties may develop mental sickness or even infertility or worse death," he explains. 

Xichen bows, "I see, thank you doc," he answered. 

After that, there was a long silence even if they are all inside the car. Ziyuan and Fengmian sitting in front as Fengmian is the one driving,  Yanli and Wanyin sitting in the middle while Xichen was sitted at the back. 

Wanyin decided to focus his attention outside the window, trying to not think about it too much, still, his heart is clenching in pain but decided to ignore it for now. While Xichen on the back only held his head low. 

"Xichen, son. You can stay at ours since it's already late," Fengmian offered as he look at Xichen in the rearview mirror. Ziyuan was about to protest when Fengmian immediately grab her hand, he smiled at her, "We'll listen to him at home, hon," he cooed. His wife squinted her eyes then glared at the alpha's reflection. She whipped her husband's hand away and crossed her arms over her chest. "Fine!" she answers.

"A'li, call A'Xian and Wangji that we'll be heading home," he instructed her by eyeing her in the rearview mirror. Yanli nodded and fished out her phone.

"Uhm... Miss, can I borrow a pillow?" Lan Zhan asked one of the staff upon entering while he carries his omega in his arms.

The staff bowed politely at him, "We only have throw pillows, sir, is that okay?" she asked with a smile, admiring the two beautiful couple. They look adorable, especially on how the alpha holds his omega ever so gently. 

Lan Zhan nods at her, "It's okay," he answers while another staff approached them and leads them to an empty cafe room. 

Upon entering the room, the staff he asked for throw pillows is already by the door holding two pillows in her hands. After Lan Zhan settled the peacefully sleeping omega on the floor, he took the pillows from her and then thank her after. 

"Is there anything you want to request, sir?" she asked, fondly watching the two. 

Lan Zhan nods, "Do you have a blanket? And can I order spicy stir-fried vegetables, spicy fried rice, and... uh... do you sell a tub of your spicy ice cream?" he asked.

The staff giggled internally, she assumed that the food was all for the alpha's partner since the alpha doesn't look like he eats spicy foods, "We do sell a tub sir. Will that be all?" she asked. 

Lan Zhan nods, "Yes please."

"And about the blanket sir, I believe we don't have any," she bowed as an apology. 

"Is that so? That's fine then, we're just here for an hour or less anyway. Thank you," he uttered, "oh, and the food will be to-go," he added, the staff nodded and bowed before she left.

When the staff left, his eyes darted back to his sleeping omega, "Guess I just have to embrace you for now," he smiled to himself before collapsing beside Wei Ying. He immediately engulfed the omega into his arms which the omega instinctively nuzzles deeper into his chest and gentle purrs rumble from his chest. A soft satisfied sigh left Lan Zhan's lips as he inhales Wei Ying's hair. "Sweet..." he mumbles, answering the omega's purr with his own while he brushes his finger on his hair, hearts warming inside their chests.
