Wei Ying sneakily peeked at Lan Zhan's phone when he suddenly heard it beeped. The alpha had excused himself to go to the bathroom for a while and his phone's message tone suddenly beeped followed by it lighting up. It has been like that since last Tuesday, Lan Zhan receives a message right after class, Wei Ying taught it was not that important but get dumbfounded when his boyfriend excuses himself after reading the message and ditches them to their usual hangout until it happened the rest of the days. Xichen always told him that it was nothing to worry about but he can't help it, he misses being with his boyfriend he can't help but get suspicious despite the fact that he trusts him more than ever. But leaving suddenly and not even telling the reason, who wouldn't?

 His brows furrowed as he finally got a proper look. Wei Ying was not supposed to look at it cause he wants to respect his alpha, but he can't help getting curious as it rang two times simultaneously.

"Hey sweetie, mind picking me up after your class? I know your schedule and I'm out of the office already ♥️"

The omega suddenly felt a pang in his heart, crushed into like glasses, who was that? 'G♥️' is written as its name. Is that his ex? Or does the alpha cheating behind his back? 

He doesn't know. It's probably bad prying into someone's privacy like that but he can't help but feel threatened and hurt. He bit his lower lip, head lowered as he tried to contain the heavy tears prying to fall any moment. Then he sighs, calming himself. If the alpha loves him, he will tell him the truth!

Lan Zhan came back from the bathroom not long after. Wei Ying distracted himself from all the books he can reach. Maybe the alpha will tell him now. He hopes, crossing fingers as he waits for the alpha's confession. 

"I'm back, did I receive a notification?" He asked causing the omega to feel pained, does that message more important than him now?

The omega looked up and smiled, a fake one, then brought his attention back to the book he is reading that he can't even take to his head because he was bothered with the text message his alpha received. He shakes his head, "dunno, I was too engrossed in this book," he chuckled fakely, liar!

Lan Zhan nods and picked up his phone and reads the message, typing afterward to reply. Wei Ying noticed his eyes twitch in excitement. The fuck? So it's real?!

"Uhm, babe," the alpha called, looking down at his omega, the omega hums in response, not batting a single eye, "I will not be able to escort you home today, is that okay?" The alpha asked fondly at him as if the alpha didn't do something. 

The omega wants to scream and shout at the alpha right now, 'yeah fuck going somewhere because you're a cheating fucker!' he wants to burst, but the other side of his brain tells him to calm down. Maybe the alpha can't tell him in the meantime, he will surely tell him. Right? He will, right?

Wuxian nods and smiles, a forced one. 'calm down first, Wei Wuxian. We need our head to be clear and not clouded with anger' he calms himself.

"I'm really sorry, I'll make up to you tomorrow," he reassured. The omega just nods, maybe tomorrow he'll tell him.

But before the alpha can leave, "Where will you go this time, babe?" he asked, hiding the pain between his forced smile. 

Lan Zhan beamed, "At the xxx mall. I'll just accompany someone," he replies, leaning close to his omega to plant a kiss on his forehead. 

If the kiss always feels comforting for Wei Ying, now it feels like thorns of lies, prickling on his forehead and bleeding through it. He smiles forcibly to his alpha which the alpha answers with a loving smile.

But as much as he wanted to wait, his impatient self can't handle the suspense, questions whispering inside his head that is urging him to do something. So when the alpha disappeared from his sight, he fished out his phone and immediately dialed A'Cheng's number. 

The phone was immediately answered after two rings, an irritated voice welcome him. "What?!" A'cheng said from the other line. 

Wei Ying sheepishly chuckles, "Hehe, I- I need your help," he mutters, trying to hold his stutter but coming out anyway. 

"For what?" ask from the other line, probably, the other omega sensed Wei Ying's unusual tone from the other line so his voice softens. 

"Well are you with Xichen ge?" he asked. 

"No. He's in his club, I'm waiting for him here in the cafeteria, though, the food here doesn't even taste delicious," he complains. 

Wei Ying chuckles, "Is that so? Mind dropping at the Library? I'm at the farthest seats," he explains. 

He heard the recessive omega muffled first then heard a seat dragging on the floor, "Yeah. Be right there. The library at our building right?" he asked. 

Wei Ying hums as an answer, then the phone call drops. 

Then the worry came rushing back again, the giddiness was evident by his damp palms. He's nervous to know something, and when he finds out about something he can't swallow, he doesn't know what life could he have had without his alpha. 

Just as the questions crawls inside his head and eat him up, Jiang Cheng was already in front of him, bringing him back to reality. 

He sheepishly looks at his brother, trying to hide the contort on his face but the recessive omega is sharp for his own good. A deep scowl on Jiang Cheng's face was painted. 

"You don't smile at me like that. Spill!" it was a stern command that really forced his tongue-tied tongue to spill whatever is bugging him. 

He explains, and he received a fuming pregnant omega. The bitter scent of burnt lotus leaked out of him. It was fortunate that the library was not crowded enough to be filled with it. 

"You know what? I think we should follow him, and later I'll make sure to interrogate Xichen if he's behind this as well," he squinted his eyes, orbs darkening in anger. 

Well, you don't make a pregnant omega angry or you'll receive wrath.
