After all their classes, Lan Zhan was about to tell Wei Ying that they are going to continue doing their project but the latter was called by his clubmates and now he was left, a little disappointed, or maybe more than that. So he decided to go straight to the library, he can just text the omega that he will wait for him. 

Upon arriving at the library, he settled on the seat at the far back of the library and eventually set all his things down before fishing his phone out, he immediately texted the omega and wished he'll see his message sooner. "I'm at the library. I was hoping we can do our project today, but if it's no good, tell me." then sent it before grabbing a book from his bag to read while he waits but his phone immediately 'ting!' a second he sent his message. 

"Oh, right. I'm sorry I didn't tell you beforehand, I will just drop by the club and I'll be right there. Tell me where are you sitting!" 

The corner of Lan Zhan's lips twitch into a small smile as he reads the message he received, is it normal to hear the omega over a text? It's as if he hears him saying what he texted. "I'm at the last table in the farthest back, I'll wait :)" he replies then locks his phone, putting them on the table. 

His phone lit up as it 'ting'. He glance at it for a second and another one of his small smiles broke off his lips upon reading the message, "Yup! See you, partner! 😙"

The end of the message made him feel a tinge of something on his stomach and somehow the small smile on his face isn't even wearing off. He ignores them, letting whatever is happening to do the work, he grabs the book once again and browses through them.

It didn't even take him minutes to feel the exhaustion, a yawn left his lips as soon as he reached the second sentence on the book he is reading. He really did not have enough sleep and now it's taking a toll on him, plus the silence and the comfortable ambiance of the library is making him more drowsy.

He glanced at his wristwatch, maybe the omega will take his time right? A little nap won't hurt, will it? Right, he'll just have a little nap, just a little, so he won't look tired when they were going to do their project. It's his first time to sleep in a library but it's only a once-in-a-lifetime experience so maybe it's fine.

And so he sets down the book in front of him, crossing his arms on the table before setting his head to the gap. It didn't take him long before his whole body succumb to his tiredness and eventually fell into a peaceful sleep.

"Mom, what is fated pair?"

Little Wangji asked, tucked into his bed, his doe eyes looking up at his mother.

His mother smiles fondly, brushing his soft hair gently, "hm? Why are you asking all of a sudden? Did my little Wangji found someone he cherishes?" She asked, softly but teasingly as she can be. She knew his son is smart, yet she still can't believe hearing such things from him.

Little Wangji pouted, brows a little furrowed, "No, mommy! My schoolmates were talking about it after school," he answers, innocently as he is.

His mother snickered at his defense, "Hm, let me see... Fated pair is something that two people feel."

Confused, Wangji tilted his head, brows still furrowed, trying to comprehend what his mother said.

She chuckled at the confused look from his second son. "Well, when you meet your fated pair you'll know," she utters, kissing his forehead.

"But what will I feel, mommy?" He asked as innocent as he can be.

"You'll feel drawn to that person. Like you want him for yourself. You want him to be always by your side, when he's not around you'll look for him. There's something inside you that will tell you that he's the one." She smiles.

"Like you and daddy?" His eyes twinkle, small arms hugging his mommy's tummy.

She nods and chortled, "like me and daddy."

"When my little Wangji found someone he cherishes the most more than mommy, daddy, and Xichen-gege, mommy should be the first one to know, hm?" She says to the kid, soft and loving voice.

Despite his not yet matured mind, it was engraved to him his promise to his mother. He nods vigorously, a wide smile plastered on his little lips, "Yes, mommy!" He giggles.

She giggles at his answer, "good. Now, my baby Wangji needs to sleep so he'll need to grow big and healthy so he can find his fated pair when he grows up!" She teased.

Pink hue painted the boy's ears. He immediately hides under the covers.

But that didn't get away from his mother, but she didn't push her teasing any further. She leaned one last time and kissed his head. A soft motherly smile painted her face, "Good night, my little Wangji," she bids before standing to her feet and eventually leaving Wangji in his own room.

"Lan Zhan?" 

Lan Zhan was awakened by a familiar voice, he lift up his head and slowly blinks his eyes to see clearly who was calling him. 

"Oh good, you're awake. Did I make you wait that long?" the worriedness in the omega's tone made his lips involuntarily form a small smile. 

"You're fine. I just felt sleepy, I guess," his voice is a little hoarse but he managed to answer without sounding so sleepy. 

Wei Ying chuckles, "Well, I may be part of the reason why you're sleepy," he replies. Set down all his things at the seat beside him and eventually sat across the alpha. 

The alpha sat back up as he watch the omega gets settled, "It's fine, I enjoyed your company anyway," he replies, and with that, he caught a slight hint of pink hue on the omega's cheeks, thanks to the bright light of the library. 

"Stop," the omega sheepishly chuckles, rummaging on his bag even tho he doesn't have anything to look for, just to distract the fuming warmth on his cheeks.

The alpha just stares at the omega, a chortle leaving his throat while staring. The library feels like their own world, and there are imaginary flowers and petals fluttering around the omega. He looks more beautiful in his eyes now that he's staring at him. The way the omega tuck his fringe behind his ear just made him look so bewitching. He looks so gorgeous at any angle as a matter of fact. 

Then a stray hair that the latter wasn't able to tuck caught his attention, his hands absentmindedly reached out, pushing them away from his face and eventually tucking them behind his ear. He didn't even notice the omega looking at him in shock and disbelief. 

"Pretty..." he unconsciously mutters before withdrawing his hands, his heart is beating in a rhythm he can't quite name. He remembers now. The words his mom told him that he kept hidden at the back of his head for years resurface. 

It cost him more than two years to realize that the fate his mom told him is just in front of him. Maybe because he kept his mother's words hidden for so long that he didn't realize it the first time he saw the omega. But now that he recalls, the omega always gives him the fluttering feeling that he somehow ignores. It's a repetitive process that he got used to for years that he just find normal.

As if the alpha in him burst out of its shell and suddenly responded to what his heart is screaming for, 'My fated pair, mine. I want him.' 

"...n Zhan?" 

It made the alpha burst out of his bubble when he heard the voice that was once a normal voice to him but now became music to his alphan instincts. 

He smiled at the omega, a rare one, making the omega's eye go wide. 

"Shall we start doing our project?" Lan Zhan suggested. Now, he's not rejecting what he is feeling for the omega. And starting now, he will make sure to openly show the omega what he feels, or we can just say, he'll court him.

On the other hand, Wei Ying feels his chest go wild after he unexpectedly felt the alpha tuck his hair behind his ear. His brain short circuits when he heard him say "Pretty...", and his stomach do somersaults when he saw the first-ever full smile of the alpha, 'Handsome...' his brain somehow whispered into his ear.

For the record, he malfunctioned. Unable to recover for minutes, and when he did recover, his cheeks blew blazing red that he had to lower his head to hide them. Just what was that?
