"Oh, you came," Lan Xichen utters the first thing he saw the beta who enters the student council without knocking. The alpha immediately noticed him even without looking up. 

Jiang Cheng approached the alpha, brows pinching as he sat beside him with an 'oof'. "Yeah, seeing the couple flirt in front of my eyes makes me want to remove my eyes out," he grumbles, crossing his arms over his chest. 

Xichen glanced at him, chuckling as he sees the infamous scowl of the beta added with his little pout. 'cute' he thought. "Hm, so you came here because you don't want to be there and not because you miss me?" he fake sulk and pouted while puppy-eyeing. 

Wanyin grimaced at him, then rolled his eyes in disgust, "Oh stop being dramatic! They almost suck each other's faces in front of me, dad, and shijie! If their attention wasn't caught we would've been witnessing a fucking live show make-out! That's disgusting!" he complains. 

Xichen chuckles as he watches the beta with fondness in his eyes, he finds it cute seeing the beta grumble like a child, making him tempted to pinch his cheeks but he stopped himself to do it or the beta might avert his irritation to him. He just watches him, smitten and charmed at every scowl and pout.

"That really is a sore in the eyes," he replies, "So they are already in a relationship?" he confirmed, judging by the beta's complaints they must be going out now to even 'suck faces' as the beta says.

Jiang Cheng nods, "Yeah," he replies, "Oh, by the way. How's the investigation?" he asked, changing the topic, he doesn't want to dwell on his brother's love life at the moment, the real reason he came to the campus is to find out about the progress of the investigation regarding the matter: if they already have enough evidence to give the omega a sanction for doing that to Wei Ying.

Xichen immediately straighten up, "We brought the samples to the med department, I asked for Ms. Wen's help with it," he answers, forgetting somehow the beta's liking for the female-alpha.

The frown on Jiang Cheng's brows suddenly relaxes, "Ms. Wen? You mean Wen Qing shijie?" he beamed. 

Xichen's brows furrowed when the beta's expression suddenly changed. It was a wrong move to tell the beta about her, now he's annoyed. He mentally clicked his tongue in annoyance, "Hm," he hums coldly, displeased with the beta's reaction. 

"Really? Then we need to see their progress!" he chirped excitedly. When was the last time Jiang Cheng saw the female-alpha? It's when they had coffee. And now he has a reason to see her again!

Xichen can't help but click his tongue, seeing him this excited is giving him more reason to not meet the other alpha. "They are busy figuring out what could be the reason, we just need to wait here," he replies, trying to not sound rude.

Wanyin pouted, brows frowning at the alpha, "You know if you don't want to then don't go! I'll go there, jiejie might be there as well anyway," he scowls irritatedly, before pushing his seat flouncing and stomping his feet on his way to the door. 

The alpha felt dejected. Now his Cheng hates him. But he hates it more when he doesn't see what will happen when the beta is there, he hates imagining the beta getting all happy when he sees the female-alpha. He sighs, welp, guess he doesn't have a choice but to go with him. It's to get him away from her as much as possible. 

Xichen stood from his seat in defeat, "Wait for me," he utters. 

The beta looked his way, scowling at him, "Faster!" he replies as he proceeds on walking.

Xichen sighs once again, walk-run his way to the beta's side, "It's not like she'll disappear if you don't walk too fast to get there," he grumbles, stopping himself to eye-roll. 

"Whatever!" the beta exclaimed, still scowling at him.

They arrived at the lab in the med department, just as the beta said, Yanli is already there as well. At least that's a little relief, still, he feels threatened to have a potential rival in the same space. 

"Jie! Wen Qing jie!" Jiang Cheng greeted them upon entering, when the two raised their heads from focusing on their laptop and spotted him, they waved their hands enthusiastically.

"Oh, you're here. Come, come, we've analyzed the possible cause. Just like Mr. Lan said, the tea had some drug in it, another cause is the dominant alpha's pheromones inside the student council office," Wen Qing explained when the two were already behind the ladies.

"Right, but based on A'Xian's test results from the hospital, it matches with the drug in the tea, disregarding the possibility of the alpha's pheromones since Mr. Lan said he arrived there when A'Xian has already fainted," Yanli added, typing on her laptop. 

Jiang Cheng clenches his fist, for all he knows that Guangyao had something in mind to destroy his brother, but why? Wei Ying had done nothing to him!

Xichen noticed the beta's fist clenched then he can whiff a burnt sugary lotus, a sign of distress. He looked the beta's way, slightly sniffing to confirm if the scent is coming off from the beta. His eyes are wide upon confirming, but how? Betas don't have scents like alphas and omegas. His brows furrowed, but even then, he chose to not think about it for now. He grabbed the beta's hand which made the beta jump out of his thought and turn to look at the alpha. The beta's frown relaxes, so as his clenched hand, as if on cue, the scent of the burnt lotus disappeared. Is it just a coincidence?

"We just have to finalize this and send it to you, Mr. Lan, then you can send it to the head office," Wen Qing gets their attention.

Lan Xichen immediately let go of the beta's hand when the attention was drawn to him, "Yes, thank you, Ms. Wen," he answers. 

"And I think Wen Qing's brother is ready to testify because he's the one who handed A'Xian's drink, so it's settled. That Jin Guangyao will get what he deserves!" Yanli gritted her teeth in anger. She's too angry to even notice that she's already releasing her pheromones.

Another scent of distress, but completely different from the first one, whiff under Xichen's nose. His brows furrowed, they are only four inside the room. Ms. Wen, Ms. Jiang, Cheng, and him, which is two alphas, one omega, and one beta. Now he's more confused as to where he smelt the burnt lotus a while ago.

While he contemplates, Wen Qing suddenly spoke, straying him away from his thoughts, "Hey, try calming down, will you? I can smell rotten Lilacs from you!" she complained, covering her nose as she took a step away. "Sorry!" she apologies sheepishly, neutralizing her scents. 

That leads Xichen to a conclusion, Cheng is releasing pheromones, but how? He sighs in defeat, well, he'll figure it out later after all this chaos subsides.

I just want to share this cause it's kinda funny (I guess lol), anyways, my parents are getting more curious and curious by the time about my stories and I've already written less than 20 stories and I haven't shown them a single story since I started writing. They know I write cause they always see me typing on my laptop, and they keep asking me to show them what I'm writing. Now here's the problem, I don't know how to show them because all of my stories are BL, and my parents are traditional Filipino parents (I know some Filipino children out there can relate to me lol) they don't agree with homosexuality but they are not homophobes, they're okay with it cause they have friends that are homosexual. So now I don't know how should I show them because I'm sure there'll come a time that they will find my watty. hahahah I'm fucked lmao
