Chapter 71 - To Far

Chapter 71 - She went to far....

"Are you here for Beth?" A nurse in a pink outfit came out into the crowded waiting room with shocked eyes. But I cant blame her, I mean Beth's parents were here, three older twin brothers, and her twin, Moe, her two younger sisters, her boyfriend, Payson, Bud and I. Then about half of the school. Obviously, no jocks had shown up. However, it was obvious I was not the only person Beth had managed to befriend. Her hyper innocence had everyone in this room, waiting impatiently for the nurse to come out and tell us how she was doing.

Two things plagued the mind of everyone there. The first and most important being, would she make it? The second being... What had the jocks done this year? They normally picked people who could be scared into silence, and while Beth with her doe eyes, could be scared into anything. Her mouth flapped like a flag in the wind, and there was no way she wouldn't squeal... unless they did something, threatened something, so horrible that she would never be the same again.

"We are her parents." Her dad said from the middle of the supportive circle that had formed around them. The nurse gave him a wary look, and my heart lurched in my throat. Was Tyler part of this? The thought left as soon as it came, he had changed since the guy who would of done that last year, he wouldn't be part of this.

"She is not looking good. Physically, aside from some broken bones and a hairline skull fracture, she is fine. The surgery to repair the damage to her jaw bone went fine. Unfortunately she slipped into a comma afterwards. If she wakes up, it will be when she is ready." The nurse rubbed her head and took a deep breath that ended as a sigh.

"What I am trying to say is, whatever happened effected her more mentally than anything. We can't repair an emotional trauma, its up to her. I am so sorry." The nurse giving one last truly sympathetic look, turned and left. I walked up to her parents, without a word, I pulled her into a hug.

"I'm going to find out what happened. I'm going to take care of it. Beth is one of a kind, she'll make it." Not questioning my words, or who I was the woman embraced me and sobbed on my shoulder, I received many odd looks. I wasn't sure why, but her husband gave me a calculating look. I pulled back, and strode out of the room. Payson and Bud rushing after me.

"Do you know who her dad is?" Bud asked, I gave him a look.

"I don't give a shit. I have something to do." He gave me a startled look when I whipped out my phone.

"What are you doing?" He asked, I gave him a cool look.

"Making an alibi." Squishy answered the phone on the third ring with a 'Whats up?'.

"An alibi for what?" Bud asked.

"Revenge."

I walked down the hall at school, I would of skipped, but there were things I had to do. Things I had planned. Running into Tyler was not one of them. His hundred-watt smile slipped on his face when he saw me, and my heart lurched painfully, making my throat feel tight. I tried for a look of indifference, but I think I pulled a pissed off woman, who had cramps from constipation.
