Chapter 13- Check Pecks, and Blind Lights

Mickey sobbed as Ruby stopped breathing. "Please baby, Please" He said, and before the darkness came over me again, I saw Mickey give Ruby the last kiss he ever would.... The buzz no longer making me loopy, tears mixed with the blood on my face. What have we done?

I slammed out of bed, sweat pouring down my face, I steadied my breathing. Walking to the window, on unsteady legs. I opened it, greeted by a gust of cold wind, and the night sky.

"I'm sorry Ruby" I whispered, to no-one. As I laid wide-eyed, until the first light of dawn shone throw my window.

I got out of bed numbly, once my alarm clock went off. I always hated when I went a few days without the nightmare, because it made it that much worse, when I finally had it again. I sighed, and got ready for school. Even though, I didn't want to go. I walked by the photo of Me, Mickey, Ruby and Red, and smiled at the memory.

Since Ruby and Red were twins, we got to celebrate their birthday on one day. That day we had gone to a mall. After getting as high as a kite. And found a photo booth, all of us making silly faces.

I felt a pang in my heart, I had known all of them for three years, and I knew, I would always miss them. And the biggest regret, is that I was to high, to remember all the good times.

I made it down stairs with heavy feet. Not really feeling the need to eat. Nana took one look at me, and I was gathered into her arms.

"There back aren't they?" The concern in her voice, sent me into tears. Nana was the only one I had ever cried in front of. I didn't even cry at my Dad;s funeral, Always scared that people would use it against me.

"Shhh Shhh, No tears, It was a long time ago, and no one blames you. Ruby was dying long before you got into that car." She said, rubbing my back.

"And not to mention, Today you get your pay check, that little Alpha Slut at school, is dropping charges. And you get to see her face crash soon, when he breaks up with her." I smiled, through my bad mood.

"Thank you Nana, I think I am just going to go." I said, pulling away after kissing her cheek. But she pulled me back by my hand.

"No, No. I am not letting you go to school like that. You can enjoy your victory of not having all that trouble. Your counselor will understand, I will call. You get something to eat. I heard you screaming last night. You have a sleeping pill on the counter. Take it, and get some rest." She said patting my back, before walking away.

"Thank you Nana." I whispered to the air, where she had just stood. This was why I loved Nana so much, She was the only person who cared so much about me, Since dad died. I grabbed a peach from the fridge, I was about to take the pill. But decided to wait till I was done eating.  

I saw Nana on my way upstairs and blew her a kiss. Before walking up to my room, and laying down with a huff. I heard Nana on the phone, when I took my sleeping pill. But I think, I fell asleep before it did me any good.
