Three years.
Jeon Jungkook believes that the pain across his chest would feel lighter by now, but that wasn't true. His friends told him that time heals everything, but he thinks it's a lie.
Time helped.
He admits that time helped him get busier and he learned that the more he spent studying and working, the less chance he'd have in having his mind think of her. But it didn't alleviate the moments when he did think of her, his heart would hurt just as much as the first time he'd read her text.
Then there was her text.
Jeon Jungkook has every word memorised, and for the first three months, he spent all night re-reading each word, overanalysing it until tears ran down his cheeks.
Park Chaeyoung was a cruel and beautiful woman, but he understood.
He wasn't angry.
Jeon Jungkook loved her enough to know that Korea and the family dynamics was a burden on her heart.
Three years had passed but the feelings in his chest haven't died down. Often, after a long day at the hospital he'd open up old photos or do an internet search on the latest case that she was working on. Seeing her, although over a screen always brightened his day. Of course, he'd gone on dates here and there and had a few flings along the way (his friends promised him that getting laid would make him feel better, but that was a lie) but everything always led back to her. He'd find himself unintentionally comparing the other girls to her, and find himself rushing to the bathroom and look at old pictures of her in the middle of dates.
For that, Jeon Jungkook decides to focus on his craft.
At least, he thinks that that's what she would want for him especially given that the reason why she left was because she felt as though him moving to Australia would be a moment of him holding her back. And so, he decided to drown himself in work, pursuing further study and now finding himself working under one of the leading neurosurgeons in South Korea.
He thinks she would be proud.
Does she keep tabs on him?
It's a Wednesday when Jeon Jungkook leaves early, deciding to stop by the grocery store before heading home. He searches on his phone for her name, but there doesn't seem to be any active cases. She hasn't been on the radar for over two months.
He hopes she's okay.
When he arrives home, he puts his groceries on the kitchen table (deciding to unpack them properly after a shower) but just as he was about to open the bathroom door he hears loud banging on the door.
"What the fuck?" He curses under his breath, forcing himself to run towards to door to hear the sound of his best friend, Park Jimin, muttering a loud 'open the door Jungkook!' from the other side.
He opens it and feels the other's body hit him, hands against his shoulder as he pants, catching his breath. Park Jimin hits him across the shoulder.
"What was that for?" He scoffs.
"Can you fucking answer your phone so I don't need to be banging on the door like a crazy person?" Park Jimin complains, "... can you give me water?"
Jeon Jungkook heads to the fridge and gets a bottle before going back to his friend, "... what has to running to my house like a criminal looking for refuge?"
Park Jimin practically inhales the bottle like air before putting the bottle down on the table, "... she's here, in Korea."
"What? Who?" He asks.
