why isn't that happening to you?
a feeling of emptiness have been hitting you lately
and it just wouldn't go away
even though you're doing well at school
but you don't have much friends to talk to at school
probably because you're a transferred student
despite being someone that is introvert, you tried your best to talk to your classmates
but they avoided you like you are some kind of weird kid
you gave up trying after months
that being said so, you still keep a smile on the outside
you just don't want to look that pathetic for others to laugh at
but on the inside, you feel like a total piece of shit
you just don't have anyone to share your worries with
not even your parents
because they are probably at work longer than they are at home
and even when they are at home, they don't really bother showing you any care
that's when you decided to find a job at the nearest starbucks
you thought that maybe by earning money, you could be happier
but nah
you still feel like crap

you're at starb doing your usual night shift job after school
everything was going well that night until a couple of familiar faces entering
the guys are definitely from your school
and they aren't just any guys
they are from the group of popular guys
it's seongwoo, daniel and jihoon
unlike other girls in school, you are not that crazy over them
you know tons of girls fall for them
but that doesn't include you
for some reason, you kinda start getting nervous
probably because they are famous and handsome?
"h-hi, can i take your order?" you stuttered
"you're from our class isn't it? that transferred student right?" seongwoo pointed out
"y-yeah, that transferred student"
"i never thought that you would work part-time because none of the students in the school even work" daniel and seongwoo started bursting out laughing
"she's probably a little broke" daniel went on
you blushed in embarrassment but you could only laugh along
as much as you wanted to talk back, you know you're not in any good position to talk back to the school's king
"just 3 iced americano please" jihoon cut in while the other two made their way to a seat
"s-sure" you give a slight smile
"i'm sorry on behalf of them, they laugh and joke at everything so don't take it to heart" you got shocked when you heard that from jihoon
"no, it's fine" you assured him once more
but is it really fine for you?
even from the cashier, you could hear daniel and seongwoo continued laughing at you
they kept looking at you trying to serve customers
and they even tried to mimic the way you tried cleaning up the tables
you sighed as a response
but you soon heard jihoon telling him to stop laughing at me
you wondered why did jihoon do that
and as much as you want to believe that jihoon is just being nice, you didn't want to get disappointed and jump to conclusions
so you didn't bother about them
eventually, they left
and soon, you left too because your shift is up
you took your bag and left but the moment you see jihoon standing outside
you wondered if your eyes are playing tricks on you "i was actually waiting for you to finish..." he started
"me? but... why?"
"i wanted to apologize because of the both of them, i felt kinda bad" he said as he lowered his head
you chuckled in response
you could feel your heart warming up, it's been such a long time since there's someone treating you well
"nah, it's really fine, jihoon. in fact, i feel bad for making you wait in the cold just to say sorry" you smiled
afterwards, jihoon offered to send you home
and during that journey, you guys clicked almost immediately
you have never told someone so much stuff about you before
and you have never thought you could talk one of most popular guys in school
jihoon is someone that is completely opposite of what you think he is
not gonna lie but you wish you could talk to him forever
you felt really happy even though you guys are just talking
not in a romantic way but you just wanted someone to be there for you
once you guys bid goodbye, the same old loneliness hit you
you wish today last forever
and guess what
that surprisingly happened
during lunch time, you would never go down to the cafeteria because you would eat alone
and that's awkward
but if you're really hungry, you have no choice to go down
you would end up eating at the back of the school where no one really go to
you thought you are hearing things but when you turn to see who's comingyou legit got a shock when you see park jihoon beside you
"is this where you eat everyday?" you looked at him, still trying to process that he actually went to find you
"yeah... because i don't have anyone to eat with" you confessed
"but from today onward, you won't be alone anymore! let's make it a deal, i will be here to eat with you every single day" you stared at him, thinking if jihoon is making a joke or not
"you don't have to do this if you don't want to"
"i just don't want you to feel lonely... i can tell that you're alone most of the time so i thought the least i could do to keep you accompany"
that immediately shut you up
at first, you're afraid that jihoon is just saying it for fun
but guess what
he really did appear tomorrow
and the day after
and every single day, just like what he promised
jihoon is there for you every time you needed himwithin this short period of time, you guys have gotten a lot closer
you're so glad that for once, someone is with you
and actually realizing your presence
that fuzzy feeling made your day
and because of that, you have been feeling better lately
but when you got home, it feels like the world is dark again
you're having dinner with your parents
and as usual, none of them ask about your life
"it's been such a long time since we last ate together" you decided to try to get close to them again
"that's because we're busy with work" your dad cut you off
"if possible, could we eat together more often? we haven't been spending time recently" you suggested
"why are you so demanding? we just told you we're busy with work!" you dad slam his spoon and fork angrily
"because i have been lonely so i thought we should spend more time together" you whispered
"just to let you know, the both of us have actually thought of moving to the states because of work while you would stay with your aunt here" your mom added on
"a-are you leaving me?"
"since you're a grown-up, we don't have any plans of bothering about your life anymore"
each and every one word they said stabbed your heart
you just couldn't accept what they told you
without saying anything, you ran out of the house
you have never expected your parents to leave you
you're not even asking much
you wanted more time with them but turns out, they're gonna abandon you
moments like this make you wan to run to jihoon
you remembered that he once told you to call him if you needed company
and you called
but deep down, you're scared that he might laugh at you for believing in his words
just like how your parents promised you that they will take care of you while you're young
"y/n? what's up?" jihoon picked up instantly
"jihoon..." you just didn't have any strength to carry on with your words and tears are slowly brimming up your eyes
"what's wrong? where are you? i'll come and find you now"
and within 5 minutes, jihoon really did appear
"y/n! what's wrong? did something bad happened?"
without answering his question, you crashed into his arms
"just let it all out, cry on my shoulder, y/n" you cried even harder after hearing jihoon's voice
jihoon's shirt is completely wet but no complaints was heard
he even patiently waited for you to be okay before asking you anything
he didn't try to rush you and force you to say everything
and he would initiate hugs in between while looking at your expression
you eventually told him everything and all the thoughts that have been burying in your heart for a long time
"are you going to leave me too?" you asked as a tear escaped your eyes
jihoon brought you into his arms once more
"remember when i said i didn't want you to feel lonely? i promise you that i'll be here for you, y/n. i don't care if it's 6am in the morning, i'll be here if you need me"
"i'm staying with you forever. trust me, y/n"
