· so you were a fifth year gryffindor
· and your best subject, surprisingly, was potions
· there was just something about the magic of it that you really enjoyed
· your potions class was a mixed hufflepuff/gryffindor class, so there were quite a number of you crammed into the dungeons
· that day during class, you were brewing the base for polyjuice potion
· everyone was bustling around the classroom when suddenly, a loud boom! rocked the dungeons
· "lee gwanghyun!" you heard someone roar as smoke billowed through the room
· you began coughing, waving your wand to disperse the thick smoke
· in one of the corners of the dungeon, you saw a boy, probably gwanghyun, staring down at his smoking, blackened cauldron miserably
· "hey, who is that?" you asked your desk-mate curiously
· "that's lee gwanghyun, hufflepuff, best friends with jung sewoon, kinda shy but really sweet."
· you hummed in response, watching lee gwanghyun for a second more before turning back to your own cauldron
· after class ended, you were gathering all your things into your bag when you noticed the professor speaking rather harshly to gwanghyun
· "gwanghyun, if your performance doesn't improve, i don't know that you're going to pass my class," the professor was saying
· as you hurried out of class, you couldn't help but feel bad for the poor boy– he looked like he was about to start crying
· a few days later, when you had potions again, the professor pulled you aside before class started
· "(y/n), i have a bit of a favor to ask you," the professor sighed, "would you be willing to tutor one of your classmates? they're really having a hard time, but i just don't have the free time to give them the attention and help they need."
· "o-oh," you nodded your head quickly, "no problem."
· the professor obviously thanked you and you hurried back to your seat, wondering who it might be
· as lee gwanghyun entered the room with a few of his friends, you hummed, wondering if maybe it was him
· sure enough, after class, you were packing up your things when you felt someone standing next to you
· "oh!" you straightened quickly to send a smile and lee gwanghyun, who returned the most adorable smile you'd ever seen
· "hi! are you (y/n)?" he asked carefully, awkwardly fidgeting with the straps of his backpack
· "yeah, you're gwanghyun, right?"
· gwanghyun nodded vigorously
· "ah, so I'm tutoring you," you quickly picked up your backpack, "here, what's your next class? i have a free period, so i can walk you there so that we can figure everything out."
· "oh, transfiguration," gwanghyun replied brightly,following you out of the dungeons
· the two of you quickly came up with a schedule that fitted both of your schedules, and gwanghyun briefly explained the things he was struggling with the most
· and so with that, the two of you started meeting every wednesday and sunday evening to either review a practical aspect of a potion or to actually brew
· when you first started, there were a lot of explosions, and gwanghyun always apologized profusely afterwards, but slowly, there were less and less
· you soon realized that one of gwanghyun's problems was the he was severely lacking confidence in his potions abilities
· so you made sure to hYpE HiM UP
· (lots of blushing on gwanghyun's part)
· and of course, since potions was a lot of waiting and simmering and stirring, the two of you had a lot of time to get to know each other
· gwanghyun was absolutely adorable and incredibly sweet, always genuinely curious as to how your day had gone, or who you thought was going to win the next quidditch match
· and whenever you asked gwanghyun questions or complimented his improvement, he blushed and smiled over at you
· and wow gwanghyun was cute and was that your heart beating a little faster?
· soon your friends noticed your crush on the hufflepuff and began teasing you about it
· but gwanghyun (bless his soul) never seemed to realize what your friends were talking about
· one evening, the two of you were brewing a calming draught, its milky-white steam filling the room, when you heard gwanghyun take a deep breath and face you
· "oh, what's u–"
· "would you maybe want to hogsmeade with me?"
· you just blinked for a few seconds, a little surprised at how loudly gwanghyun had shouted that, before smiling widely
· "of course i would," you grinned at him, cooing internally at his enormous smile and pink cheeks
· when the two of you start dating its adorable honestly
· gwanghyun does his best to take care of you!!! and he doesn't let anyone be rude/disrespectful to you bc you're his bby
· everyone loves the two of you as a couple
· (esp. the potions professor, who feels quite smug about the whole relationship lmao)
