- so here's the story

- daehwi is a popular kid at school because he's an all rounder

- as far as you remember, he was never a 2nd ranked student before

- he is also the head of the student council

- he got the looks too

- everyone likes him including the teachers

- even though he's a popular kid at school, the only interaction you have with him is just hey bye and see you

- so you don't really know him other than his appearance

- you just finished studying and you are on the way to grab your dinner before heading home

- it is currently 8pm and when you're at the cafe you go to usually go to, you noticed daehwi is there too

- not as a customer, but as a waiter

- you got a shocked because you have never imagined him working

- but he never noticed you are there too

- anyways

- you grabbed your dinner and while you are eating, you heard customers shouting at daehwi even though he did nothing wrong

- "can you clear all these plates faster?"

- "you're just a student, what does it take for you to even work here?"

- and after all those rude words came out bluntly to daehwi's face

- he is still smiling, like how he is in school

- you only heard him apologized and didn't even try fighting for himself

- just before you leave, you heard another voice shouting at daehwi

- "how many times must i tell you? move your hands faster! such a simple instruction yet you can't even understand. you're only book smart, i wish you are more than that." his manager screamed at him

- and guess what

- daehwi is still putting a strong front, not even a change in his expression

- even though you are not very close to him but your heart went soft for him

- so you decided to wait for daehwi to knock off and walk home with him

- "hey daehwi"

- "y/n? i didn't expect to see you here!"

- "me too actually, i have been here a lot of times but i never see you work here before"

- "are you okay?" you asked

- "yeah of course! Why wouldn't i be okay?"

- "you know what i'm talking about, how can you still be okay when the customers and your manager were screaming at you?"

- "no, i'm fine. it's my fault anyway."

- "you don't have to be fine all the time. I'm pretty sure you have tons of expectations you have to meet and not being okay is fine. you don't have to be strong all the time."

- he gave you a weak smile and he said, "thanks y/n. those are the words i really need. i always pray that i don't have to meet all these expectations from everyone but everyday is just the same old shit. no matter how tired i am, i still have to smile."

- you pull daehwi to a hug and you told him, "i can't promise you that things are gonna change but at least you can put your strong disguise away when you're with me. the darkest time will eventually pass."
