· prefect, seeker, everyone loves him

· you're one of daniel's good friends

· you're also in hufflepuff so you guys have been through a lot together, given that it's your last year at hogwarts

· you've been partners in arithmancy for the past three years, but since daniel wants to become an auror, he doesn't take it your last year

· so the two of you decide to partner up in potions instead

· both of you are pretty serious about the class, as you both need an O in the class (him for auror, you to become a Healer at St. Mungo's)

· you guys have always worked really well together in the past, so it's no trouble to be working together now

· the only problem is that whenever you leave class in the dungeons, there's always like a million slytherin first and second years waiting for him to leave

· he sends you this cute lil embarrassed grin before saying hi to them

· for your next project in potions you guys are each assigned to research and modify an existing potion that is selected randomly

· and of course

· you two get amortentia

· you've made it before last year and you'd gotten so sick and tired of the stupid scent of sweat and grass and some strange spicy cologne

· so you guys are talking and daniel's like

· what if we developed amortentia for friendship?

· like instead of becoming obsessed with the person, you just want to become friends with them?

· and you were like k but how would u test that

· "the smell, obviously!"

· so basically, you guys are trying to find a potion that when someone sniffs it, they smell the scent of their closest friend

· so you guys meet up after class down in the dungeons to use a cauldron and begin brewing basic amortentia to start

· "i'm not telling you what i smell"

· "aw,come on! i thought we were friends!"

· "well, i smell hot chocolate and cinnamon and spices"

· for some reason that sounds familiar but you can't pinpoint where

· so you two begin experimenting after class, changing the proportions of ingredients

· you guys have inhaled so much of that scent from amortentia you're getting real sick of it

· so you two decide to take a break and daniel's like well while this one's brewing, why don't we go out to the quidditch pitch and clear our minds?

· and you haven't flown in ages

· like since your first year

· so you're a bit clumsy and uncoordinated on the broom, but daniel is always flying next to you, making sure you're safe

· eventually you get the hang of it and the two of you fly over the great lake

· it's like nighttime so the moon is out

· and the air over the lake is cool an super refreshing

· and when you guys land again you hand your broom to daniel since he knows where to store it

· and he looks down at you with a grin and reaches over to smooth down your hair

· and he's like right in front of you and you're breathing in the scent of grass and sweat and spicy cologne and holy shit have you been in love with kang daniel

· but then when you look up as he pulls away, gently tucking your hair back, you realize that maybe it's not such a far fetched idea

· the two of you decide to stop by the kitchens for something warm to drink before heading back to the dungeons to continue working

· and all the hufflepuffs know the house elves by name and adore them

· "winky, good evening!"

· daniel is the sweetest ever and reassures winky the house elf that he can make your hot chocolate without her help

· you're adding cinnamon and cardamom and nutmeg to your own hot chocolate when it hits you

· and you just muster up the courage and go

· you meet his gaze, trying to ignore how fast your heart is pumping

· and then winky the house elf goes

· and daniel laughs and winks at you

· you roll your eyes and let him plant a quick kiss on your lips
