· park jihoon is a hufflepuff and you're a slytherin
· (i'm a sucker for huflepuff/slytherin relationshipslmao)
· you two are in the same year but you've never really talked
· he's fairly popular in your year, given his good looks, charm and kindness
· as a slytherin people expect you to be really into potions
· but your enthusiasm actually lies in care of magical creatures
· normally you're only allowed to have an owl/toad/cat as a pet, but you have a bowtruckle that you saved from being sold illegally in knockturn alley
· anyways, the care of magical creatures professor obviously loves you and you help them out to prep for class and such
· and so when the professor tells you about this student who's failing miserably despite trying hard, you agree to tutor him
· it's park jihoon!
· he's a bit intimidated of you when you first meet him
· you're a slytherin, and the professor also bragged to jihoon about how smart you were
· and he's taking his books out of his backpack when he sees the little bowtruckle peeking out of your collar
· and he thinks it's the most adorable thing on this planet
· i mean he's not wrong
· the tutoring sessions initially begin with you just reviewing the written stuff
· like creature names/class/families etc.
· but then he confesses that it's actually not the written part that he struggles with, it's being w the creatures and interacting with them
· so with the permission of the professor, you guys go down to the area where a lot of the creatures are kept and just kind of chill with them so that jihoon gets more comfortable
· he really likes mooncalves and puffskeins
· (cuz theyre cute lol)
· while you guys spend time with the creatures he tells you that he was actually pretty surprised that you were so into care of magical creatures
· but you're actually really into magizoology and want to pursue it in the future and he thinks that's really cool
· you guys aren't that old, so he hasn't really started thinking about what he wants to do with his life
· even after he starts doing better in care of magical creatures, he still meets with you to help you feed the creatures and check up on them
· it becomes a weekly occurrence for the two of you to meet up and help the professor out
· her two new favorite students lol
· for your birthday jihoon buys you a pygmy puff from weasley's wizarding wheezes
· it was a "defective" one since it wasn't pink/purple and that's the color they're supposed to be, but jihoon got it for you since he knew you wouldn't mind
· you decide to name it jeojang because jihoon won't stop doing that stupid aegyo and you decide to tease him about it
· "(y/n), that's not even a real name"
· "then stop doing aegyo!"
· he'll see you playing with jeojang at breakfast in the great hall and squeeze in next to you
· and steal some of your toast
· out of all the people, you really didn't expect to become friends with park jihoon
· but as your meetings down by the creatures continues you realize that maybe you like him as more than a friend?
· never one for holding back, you just bluntly tell him
· and he kind of looks up at you from the niffler that he was feeding in surprise
· "(y/n)... you know i've liked you since like second-year, right?"
· "what"
· turns out you're really oblivious to when people flirt with you because jihoon's been trying to drop signals for YEARS
· he likes plants and you like animals youre the perfect combo
· cute dates by the great lake feeding the giant squid
· and you bring him into the slytherin dorms occasionally to look up at the great lake through the glass (since the slytherin dorms are underneath the great lake)
· he's so nice and charming that your dormmates don't mind leaving for a bit so that the two of you can spend some time alone together
