Victor's POV
"I'm not hallucinating, Kota. The damn thing wasn't human. It slammed into the side of the car and made it flip over the railing." I was seething. The guys all seemed to think Gabe and I were exaggerating about what happened.
"It just doesn't make sense, Vic. I mean, listen to yourself." Kota said, trying to convince me. "I'm sure you just ran into some type of animal."
"Fuck that, man! You weren't there, Kota, none of you were!" Gabe yelled. "I got my ass thrown in the ocean by some grim reaper-looking fucker and almost drowned today. I don't care how crazy it seems. It was real."
"Like your mystery woman, Gabe?" Nate scoffed. Gabe lunged over the chair at him, just as Silas grabbed him.
"Stop Gabe. For that matter, all of you stop." Silas said in a firm voice, letting Gabe go. "Not everything is easily explained. Nothing about this mission makes sense."
"What do you mean, Silas?" North asked.
Silas blanched, "When Luke and I went to the morgue, it was.." his voice trailed off.
"Inhuman." Luke finished his brother's sentence, his voice almost a whisper. "Whatever attacked those people couldn't have been human. They didn't even look like people anymore."
The room fell silent as everyone considered what the two men had added to the discussion.
