Getting home was quick, and you dropped Steve and Sam off at the main compound, since Bucky insisted on helping you.
"I will drive you back when we are done" you offered as you parked the car.
"I don't mind the walk, it's not that far" Bucky shook his head.
"It feels far first thing in the morning" you grumbled a little.
"Steve and I normally run 10 miles every morning before breakfast" he grinned. "Super soldier" he winked.
"I don't know where you find the stamina for it" you shook your head, getting some of the bags out of the trunk and your flowers. "I am not a morning person" you added as he grabbed the rest of the bags. He closed the trunk for you and you locked the car.
"I like learning these little things about you. Pretty sure I can change your mind" he winked at you.
"Pretty sure you can't" you giggled.
"Get to know me better" he spoke confidently.
"I'm enjoying getting to know you" you admitted as you got inside the building. You clicked on the elevator, not in any rush or pressed for time to go home.
"You know, there's this great sitting area outside at our side of the compound, with this outdoor patio furniture that's pretty comfortable. It would be great for you to get your cuddles on and read at the same time" he looked at you from the corner of his eye. He saw you blush and he smirked to himself.
"I'd just get wrangled into going to work" you shook your head.
"What if I could guarantee that no one would try to talk you into going into work if it's your time off?" he looked at you seriously.
"I might consider it, I do like reading outside" you bit your bottom lip, and he wanted to audibly groan. He loved it when you did that. He wanted to kiss your lips so badly. "And I do like the cuddles" you whispered softly. "Know anyone available?" you looked at him brazenly and it was his turn to blush a bit.
"Pretty sure I can be available, or get Sam or Nat for you" he turned more towards you with his flirty smile and you melted on the inside. The things that man does to you, he would never have any idea. "Steve might if you ask him"
"I'd rather a volunteer" you saw the elevator arrived and walked in, moving your hips a little more than usual.
"I'll volunteer" Bucky whispered as he got on and stood beside you. You hit the button for your floor and looked at him shyly."I'll think about it, if there is that guarantee of course" you added carefully.
"How about next Sunday?" he asked quickly. "We can make a date... day of it" he corrected himself, blushing a bit, not wanting to push you.
"I'll think about it some more, I don't trust Tony. He's really eager with this new project we've been working on" you blushed and smiled at him shyly. "Besides, he's going to be mad I'm sending him to Siberia" you shrugged.
"I'll tell you what, I'll pretend you said yes, and I'll make arrangements to make sure no one bothers us. You can come over and read with me. I'll bring out a book too" he pressed a bit.
"If you can guarantee it, I'll come" you finally consented. "You only get one shot. I went once with Sam and ended up pulling an all nighter with Tony and have avoided going back"
"Deal" Bucky smiled happily to himself.
"Only until supper time, they usually have roast on Sunday's in my building, and the chef really goes all out with apple pies for dessert" you gave a smile as you reached your floor and he followed you off the elevator.
"Sounds like something I'd like to try" he watched as you walked confidently to your apartment.
"You can stay today for supper, and be my guest. I just read normally while I'm eating" you admitted.
"Alright, I'll stay for supper. It's not that far off anyways" he grinned and followed you to you inside after you unlocked your doors. He set down your bags, and you went about putting everything away, and he sat down on the couch and immediately started petting Aurora.
"She likes you" you smiled at him.
"She reminds me of my Alpine" Bucky grinned. "He's all white too" his eyes followed you as you moved around the room. You threw out the wilted roses and put the fresh ones in a vase, and moved gracefully around the room as you put away your fruits. You finally opened the bag with your books and frowned a bit looking around at the shelving.
"I need to go to the thrift store and get another book shelf" you sighed and fit a few on a shelf, but some of them ended up on the coffee table. You groaned a bit as you sat down, and kicked off your shoes.
"What's wrong?" he asked quickly.
"My phone keeps going off" you pulled it out of your back pocket and set it face down on the table.
"Aren't you curious?" he chuckled.
"A little" you admitted. You picked up your phone and looked at it. It was from Sam giving you a heads up that Tony discovered he had a mission for the week and had called the movers while you were out. Then there was a text from Tony saying you were moving in Friday for your little stunt, and the movers were already told to do it while you were working so you couldn't argue. "It's Sam and Tony. Tony found out, I'm being forced to move" you growled a little. "I could just quit" you sat back.
"No, don't quit. I'll talk to Tony" Bucky spoke up really quickly.
"He doesn't change his mind" you shook your head. "And then I'd have to move again anyways" you rolled your eyes. Your phone started ringing and Bucky gestured for you to answer it.
"Tony" you answered it, your voice cold.
"Siberia, really? Couldn't give me Paris" he grumbled on the other side of the phone.
"I could quit you know" you offered.
"I'm not accepting your resignation. I saw the outlines of the mission. I see why it's important. I'm giving you a raise, but you are moving" he spoke easily.
"I hate moving" you reminded him.
"That's why your new place is already furnished and I hired movers" he spoke easily. "You have your own office, except for our little project. You can bring your cat, and you get your music Tuesdays and Thursdays and every other Friday"
"You planned this well before you found out about Siberia" you sighed heavily.
"You're like family, we want you here" he spoke so happily you couldn't even find it in yourself to be that mad anymore.
"Keep the office clean, I don't want Aurora getting hurt with either your experiments or Bruce's" you looked to Bucky who had a hidden smile on his face. "And when I'm done for the day I expect you to let me go back to my suite if I want to"
"I'll work on giving you your personal space" he seemed to be smiling into the phone.
"I'm working from my office for the week" you added quickly.
"Bruce will be lonely" Tony warned you.
"Tony, I have a friend over. I'm letting you go" you hung up the phone and you could hear him trying to argue before you disconnected.
"I take it you're moving?" Bucky chuckled.
"I'm still mad at him for deciding for me, but yes" you nodded.
"I'll have to give you a tour when I'm not on a mission" he gave his flirty smile.
"You'll be busy with missions and touring around Paris. Enjoy it" you giggled.
"I'll blow up your phone with pictures" he promised.
"I'm looking forward to it" you gave him a smile. "Make sure you get the Eiffel tower, and the cathedrals" you smirked at him.
"You should really go sometime" Bucky looked at you adoringly and you found yourself flushing again.
"I want to, eventually" you admitted softly.
"Then it will be your turn to blow up my phone with pictures" he grinned and you smiled, looking away shyly.
"Do you like word searches?" you asked softly.
"I love them" he nodded and you got up and grabbed the book you had been working on with a pencil and came back to the couch. You sat closely with him, brushing your leg against his. He put his arm behind you on the couch and leaned in more than was probably necessary. You both started working on the puzzle you had stopped at a few nights ago, and you leaned in more to him, feeling like he was gravity to you. You enjoyed the smell of pine that was coming off of him and just enjoyed the closeness. You started asking him questions about himself, and he would whisper in reply as well as ask you questions about yourself. You felt yourself flushing a bit under his constant attention. He would smile at you and would hold your gaze and you would get nervous and bite your bottom lip. His gaze kept flicking to your lips. You were enjoying the intimacy of the moment. You were used to hanging out with Sam, but Sam didn't make you feel like this."Haven't you made any friends here in Compound C?" Bucky asked suddenly while you were both whispering back and forth for a long time.
"They don't like that I hang out with Sam, and made it sound like I was going to get special treatment. Add that with Tony showing up randomly to just chat sometimes, or that Nat has come by, or Wanda... They avoid me" you admitted softly. "I don't mind, I shouldn't have to choose one over the other" you shrugged. "I used to hang out with some of the other employees, but once Sam and I started hanging out they wanted me to choose between them. I chose Sam, because he never expected me to" you shrugged. "I think Sam might have figured that out, and that's why he always comes and has breakfast with me" you sat back a little bit.
"Did you tell him?" Bucky asked, seeming curious.
"There was nothing to tell. They were acting like children" you shook your head. "I like things quiet anyways"
"Well, at least you don't have to worry anymore. You'll be in the main compound starting Friday" Bucky gave his dazzling smile and you couldn't help but smile back.
"That's going to be weird to be honest. Where would I even park?" you seemed concerned.
"Tony paints parking spaces with our names in it. Don't worry about it" he shook his head. "Are you getting hungry?" he asked expectantly.
"A little, I suppose" you checked the time. "It shouldn't be too busy. Let's go see about that roast" you grinned and put the search word down on the table. After you both got your trays and filled them with food you went to your usual spot in the corner and Bucky took the seat across from you, giving you a shy smile.
"You always sit here?" he asked gently.
"No one else does. They sit in their cliques" you gestured around the room.
"I'm glad after next week you'll be eating with the team" he smirked. "You won't be eating alone anymore"
"I normally have breakfast with Sam" you shrugged in response. "This is nice for a change. Another friend to eat with" you gave him a soft smile.
"Anytime, doll" he grinned at you and started eating. He hummed happily after his first bite and you smiled as you started eating as well. "This is missing something" Bucky gazed across the table at you.
"Like what?" you stopped eating to wipe your face.
"Just give me a second" he suddenly stood up and left the room. You watched him a little confused, but you didn't know much about him yet. You took out your phone and started checking your emails just in case and waited patiently for him to come back. You were about to give up and start eating again when he came back in and went to grab a glass of water, holding something in his hand. He strode to you with a smirk on his face and put the glass of water down, and put a handful of wildflowers from outside in it. You blushed then smiled at him.
"I didn't even notice that could be missing" you giggled.
"Sometimes what you need isn't necessarily what you are looking for" he winked at you and started eating again. You wanted to tell him the advice back but refrained. He was offering friendship, and that was more than you ever thought you would get from him. Your eyes kept flicking back to the flowers and then to him as you ate slowly. His gaze would flick up to yours often and you would blush at getting caught staring at him again. You tried to concentrate but it was hard to do. You finally finished the main meal and went for dessert and Bucky waited for you to take the first bite. You hummed happily and he grinned before he went ahead and started eating his pie as well.
"I hope you realize I'm bringing those back to my room" you gestured to the flowers with a smile. "I don't want them to throw them out"
"I'll have to remember them the next time I come to have supper with you" he winked at you, seeming to gain more confidence.
"You're going to be busy" you quickly reminded him.
"I'll have to find the time" he shrugged easily and gave his flirty smile.
"You're literally going to be on the other side of the world for the week" you giggled and shook your head.
"I'll have to make it a fast mission" he smirked. "The food is good here. So is the company"
"Bucky Barnes, flattery won't get you everywhere" you continued to giggle, admittedly enjoying the attention.
"It's getting me somewhere" he spoke softly, you had to strain to hear it. You bit your bottom lip and gazed into his eyes for a moment before blushing and looking away. You heard his phone going off but he seemed to be ignoring it.
"Aren't you curious?" you repeated his earlier words to him. He groaned and took out his phone and went from having a soft smile to a deep frown.
"I'd better get going. I'm sorry, I was having a great time" he stood up.
"No worries. Thank you for the company" you grabbed your tray and put it away before going back for the flowers.
"I'll see you soon. I'll be texting you" he promised and gave a smile before he put his tray away and hurried out. You watched him for a moment before heading back to your room.
