Chapter 84: Flashbacks, Winning and Parting!

After the dinner, which lifted up Ash's mood a bit, you decided to finally tell Arlo about what happened in Sinnoh after everyone left for Kanto, as it was the only time no one would eavesdrop and you could clear somethings up.

"So" you started, while walking with him to the balcony, "I met Paul"
"YOU MET WHO?!"
"SHHHHHHHH" You immediately covered his mouth, "calm down! Don't shout, i don't want anyone to come over and hear all these"
"Okay okay, continue" he nodded
You coughed, clearing your voice, "so as i was saying, Me and Dawn were modelling with Gallade and Buneary and uhh, if I'm not wrong, Barry and Conway told us that there's an Iceberg race in Snowpoint and then took us there for the race, WHICH SEAKING AND I WON BY THE WAY!"
"that's awesome!"
"I know right! Now after that, i really don't remember who said what, but someone reminded that Paul lives nearby and then we all headed to his house to meet up with him, which I was heavily against. Reggie was there and informed that Paul wasn't at home, so we all went to the cave where he was training and saw him fighting with a Regice which we all befriended and went back to his house"

"And?" Arlo raised his eyebrow
"And....Dawn and Reggie forced me to go and talk to him in his room while they planned to stay the night in the house" you admitted with a flushed face.
"WHAT?!" He shouted but immediately lowered his voice, "you stayed in his house?!"
"Dawn, Conway and Barry were there too!"
"Forget them! Oh my gosh. No way....what happened afterwards?!"
"Uhh I just talked to him and he was the one who suggested me about coming to Unova and I also noticed that soothe bell in his shelf! You know, it made me so happy that he kept it..." You smiled warmly, thinking of that.

Arlo dramatically rolled his eyes while laughing, "alright lovesick, please continue"
"Okay okay" you laughed as well, "so um nothing much happened beside..."
"Beside....?"

Flashback

Dawn and Reggie cooked most of the dinner with tiny help from Barry and Conway and the food turned out to be delicious.

Dawn and Reggie set up the table and sat together. Conway decided to sit beside Dawn, obviously and on the other side of the table, you were sandwiched between Paul and Barry and were absolutely flustered.

'why why why why why why why?!' you thought, 'WHY AM I BETWEEN THESE TWO?!' You thought, your face turning dark red
"Hey Y/N, what's wrong? Why aren't you eating?" Barry asked, making you jump slightly
"U-uh yeah, no- i mean yeah im eating, dont worry-" You stammered and started to eat, but not without earning a supressed giggle from Dawn and Reggie.

But aside the half-uncomfortable situation you found yourself in, you started to enjoy the conversation everyone was in, and occasionally gave Paul a side eye.

After the dinner was over, you found out that Barry and Conway would leave for their hometowns where as Dawn and you will go back to Hearthome.

As you were walking upstairs to get to the room you're supposed to be sharing with Dawn, you saw Paul already ahead of you, going to his room.

"Hey Paul!" You called out, making him turn around, "heading to sleep?"
"Yeah" he replied, but he wasn't as harsh or arrogant as he initially used to be.
"Alright then, good night!"
"Hm" he said and before you could close the door after entering, he spoke up, loud enough for you to hear, "I might not see you tomorrow morning, but best of luck for Unova, unless you're planning to change your mind of going there, but still" he said and closed the door.

You stood on the doorway, dumbfounded.

"What just....happened...?"

"SO HE CARES ABOUT YOU!"
