Sickie/Little: Jisung

Caregiver: Chan

No one's POV.:

The closer Stray Kids got to having a break, the more Chan developed a feeling that something was off about one of the members. With multiple littles in the group, they had been planning to go ice skating together as soon as they had an opportunity to, which would be only a few days away. Jisung however had started to act a little strange as they were nearing their break. He grew increasingly quiet, especially when their plans were mentioned and Chan couldn't help but wonder. Usually, the younger looked forward to spending time in his headspace alongside his little friends. Was Jisung perhaps afraid of ice skating and worried he'd fall or embarrass himself? The leader made a mental note to talk to his dongsaeng soon. Maybe he'd be able to diffuse Jisung's worries and they could all look forward to their break.

The evening before their break though, Jisung had trouble falling asleep. He wasn't necessarily worried about ice skating in particular but rather on going out in general. The thing was, he had been nursing a persistent headache for the past week and although he knew it'd eventually go away once he slipped, it'd still take a day or two, so it'd still be there while they were supposed to go ice skating. The rapper wasn't really fond of physical activity while feeling low, so he also didn't want to go ice skating while still having a headache, no matter whether he was big or little. Not thinking anyone could tell, he was surprised when Chan tried to strike up a conversation once they got home from the company building. The leader was one of Jisung's favorite caregivers, probably because they've known each other the longest and the Aussie had been the first to learn about his dongsaeng's headspace, so it shouldn't have been so shocking that he had notice the boy not acting like himself.

"Are you worried about tomorrow, Sung?", Chan asked quietly, while him and Jisung shared a late-night snack. Changbin and Hyunjin were currently getting ready for bed, so the other two ate and talked as they waited for their turn to use the bathroom. Jisung only shrugged a little, humming: "Not really, I like ice skating." – "Is everything okay then? You seem tense and withdrawn like you're thinking about something too much", the older frowned, unsure if his intuition had been correct. Cleraing his throat, Jisung admitted: "I've been having a headache, probably because I need to slip. It's not really anything to worry about because I will slip tomorrow and it should be fine then. It's just something that had been bothering me." – "Why didn't you say anything? Maybe we could've gotten you a chance to slip after work or something", Chan hummed, "You shouldn't be suffering because of something you barely have any control over." Shooting his hyung a smile, the rapper disagreed: "I wasn't really suffering, hyung. It was a little annoying but not nearly bad enough to do anything about it. Besides, slipping after work sucks because you either have barely any time to play or you sacrifice your sleep in order to play. Neither option's great, so I just wanted to hold on till we're on our break."

Since Chan couldn't really argue with Jisung's reasoning, he sent the younger to bed as soon as the bathroom was free and ensured they wouldn't leave for the ice rink too early the following morning, granting all of them a chance to sleep in. When he passed by the rapper's room on his way to use the toilet later that night though, he heard soft sniffles from behind the door. Chan hurried to use the toilet before checking on his dongsaeng. Having pulled his blanket up to his face, Jisung tried to hide when his caregiver came in. He didn't like keeping the leader up at night. "Sungie?", Chan whispered. Pulling the blanket up over his head, the little soon felt the bed dip beside him and tried to hold back his tears. Chan gently patted his head through the blanket though, getting the younger to reveal his face. When he got a look at Jisung's swollen eyes, the caregiver cooed: "What's wrong, bub? Your head still hurting?" The boy nodded pathetically, scrubbing at his eyes to stop the tears. Considering this wasn't the first time Jisung had gotten overwhelmed by slipping, Chan calmly sat against the headboard and pulled the boy into his arms to calm him down.
