Little: Chan

Caregivers: Stray Kids

No one’s POV.:

Chan had been up to his chest in comeback preparations when the first few flakes of snow drifted to the ground. Since they were all stuck indoors, he didn’t learn about the snow till their manager texted him they would be picked up and driven back to their dorms later because the weather had gotten bad. Though Chan didn’t like going home when he was being told, he also knew they couldn’t risk any of them getting sick or injured due to weather events so close to a comeback.

When Chan stepped foot outside the building, he understood why their manager had been so adamant about picking them up. The temperature had dropped significantly and especially Minho, Hyunjin and Felix, who’s clothes were still damp with sweat from working on their new choreographies, were at a high risk of catching a cold. They couldn’t have that. It was a little frustrating though because a thin layer of snow dusted the pavement and Chan would’ve loved to walk back home, so he’d get to enjoy the first clear signs of winter, which he usually was far too busy to experience.

Buckling his seatbelt, Chan longingly glanced out the car window and watched the glittering sidewalks pass by. Minho noticed how quiet the leader had gotten since they had last seen each other that morning but figured the eldest was tired, the pressure of a comeback weighing heavily on his shoulders every time. Maybe he’d just need a good night’s rest, another luxury they rarely got when preparing for a comeback. Nudging Chan’s shoulder, Minho gave the older his trademark bracket smile to let him know he was seen, which made Chan’s chest feel warm and he gave a flustered smile in return. Yet, Minho’s attention didn’t ease the longing disappointment the Aussie was experiencing.

Chan and Jeongin were dropped off first and Chan instructed the maknae to take the first turn showering, while he’d set up his laptop in his room to continue working there. When the younger returned from the bathroom though, Chan’s laptop case was still on the dining table, the Aussie nowhere to be seen. Searching for his hyung, Jeongin eventually spotted the leader at the kitchen window, where he sat on the counter, dangling his feet while staring out the window.

“Hey there”, Jeongin hummed as he walked up to Chan. Standing between the Aussie’s legs, Jeongin chuckled: “Did you get sidetracked?” – “Snow!”, Chan beamed, pointing out the window while slipping two fingers of his other hand between his lips. The leader had very clearly slipped into his headspace, which wasn’t surprising considering the immense stress he was under but it still broke Jeongin’s heart to know he was struggling. “I can see that, love”, Jeongin smiled, “It looks really pretty, hm?” Chan nodded, unable to tear his eyes away from the window.

Jeongin snapped a quick picture of their entranced little and sent it to their group chat in case any of the other members were free to help him entertain Chan. Squeezing the Aussie’s knee, Jeongin hummed: “Let’s get you changed into something cozy and then we can eat dinner, okay? Come on.” He offered Chan his hand and the little clutched it tightly after he had hopped off the counter. Feeling his phone buzz in his pocket, Jeongin quickly checked his messages before settling Chan on his bed and opening the closet. “Your hyungs are coming over soon, so let’s make you look all cute”, the maknae beamed, also pulling out the black shoebox containing Chan’s littlegear, discreetly hidden away.

Slipping the pastel blue pacifier between Chan’s lips, Jeongin lays out the little’s pajamas on the bed and instructs: “Put this in for me, while I go lay the table, yeah? Your hyungs are bringing takeout for dinner, so we can all eat together.” The maknae chuckles a little to himself as he imagines their manager face palming at them all being out and about right after he made a they wouldn’t be. Well, he didn’t need to know, right?
