Little: Hyunjin

Caregivers: Minho & Changbin

No one’s POV.:

Things weren’t going Hyunjin’s way, not in the slightest but he didn’t feel like he had a right to complain. He had lost track of time the day before as he had worked on a painting of his favorite teddy bear after having finally slipped into his headspace for the first time that month, so he inevitably ended up going to sleep way past his bedtime. It came as little surprise, that he slept through his alarm and despite rushing through his morning routine, arrived to dance practice late. An entire day of dance practice nonetheless when he had already gotten so very little sleep that night. Minho wasn’t too happy about it either because they were on a tight schedule but he also refrained from lecturing his dongsaeng, who already looked like he was having a bad morning. Him and Felix had already started practicing because the Aussie would have to leave their session earlier for an appointment, so it’d only be Minho and Hyunjin for the rest of the day and the older had already resigned himself to staying late that evening to help Hyunjin catch up.

Minho just hadn’t predicted how badly Hyunjin would struggle to catch up. Usually, his dongsaeng was a fast learner but his mind seemed to be elsewhere today. Truth be told, it was. Hyunjin hadn’t been able to ease out of his headspace properly and the hectic morning hadn’t helped either. All he wanted to do, was go back home and curl up under his blanket, hoping the next day would be better. That wasn’t an option though and Hyunjin knew it, so he tried to suck it up but his mind remained fuzzy. Had he not been half regressed and had he paid some attention to his friends’ schedules, he would’ve known that Felix had an appointment but with how out of it he was, the Aussie leaving felt personal. Hyunjin had gotten the same segment wrong repeatedly over the past thirty minutes, so the only logical conclusion to the little was that he had upset Felix.

Not wanting to upset Minho too, Hyunjin didn’t mention that he was slowly slipping. He couldn’t afford to be little right now, not with how many mistakes he had been making. The members knew about Hyunjin’s headspace and on less stressful days, Minho also knew and recognized the signs of his dongsaeng slipping but they were both on edge, impatient to get the choreo right, or well, rather impatient for Hyunjin to get the choreo right. Minho had already aced it an hour ago. Trying and failing to focus had already given Hyunjin a headache but so far, the pain wasn’t bad enough to make him mention it. It would only be a matter of time before the discomfort would leave his sensitive little-self teary-eyed though.

Minho didn’t immediately notice it but he eventually picked up on the frequent soft sniffles. Maybe his dongsaeng was coming down with a cold. It’d explain why he was so out of it today. Minho couldn’t know that the younger was trying his hardest to hold back the tears, threatening to spill over. He only found out just how close to tears Hyunjin was, when the little tripped over his own feet once again and immediately burst into tears. “S-sowwy”, Hyunjin sobbed, plopping down on his bum. He angrily slapped at his ankles and cried: “Why dey jus’ nuh do wha’ Jinnie wan’ dem do?!” – “No no, baby. No hitting yourself”, Minho scolded as he took a seat next to the little. Wrapping his arm around Hyunjin’s shoulders, he soothed: “It’s okay, we all have clumsy days. Hyung’s not mad but I know you’re frustrated. Let’s take a break, love.”

Gently bundling Hyunjin into his sweater, so he wouldn’t catch a cold, Minho made the little sip some water and waited for him to calm down. “How are you feeling now, Jinnie?”, the older asked softly, loosening the other’s ponytail when he noticed him wince. Leaning his head into Minho’s hands, Hyunjin pouted: “Nap pwease? Head owie.” – “You look so tired, honey”, Minho cooed, his thumbs stroking the bags under his dongsaeng’s eyes, “Today’s really not your day at all, huh?” The younger gave a weak sniffle and shook his head. He wanted to go home.

Minho could easily see that they would not be getting anything else done that day, not with the condition Hyunjin was in, so taking the younger home was the only right course of action. It wouldn’t be so easy though, Jinnie too upset to move. “Love, if you want to take a nap, we’ll have to go home first”, Minho whispered, gently nudging the little in his arm. It earned him a sleepy whine but he encouraged: “Don’t you wanna go home to Binnie-hyung and all your plushies? I’ll come too and we can make you some hot chocolate before you go to sleep.”

He wasn’t sure if Hyunjin had even heard him but the younger eventually mumbled: “Wan’ ma bwankie too.” – “Of course!”, Minho beamed, carefully pulling his dongsaeng to his feet, “Cuddles are best under a soft and fuzzy blanket, right?” Nodding tiredly, Hyunjin trudged after Minho and sluggishly slung his bag over his shoulder. Hopefully, Changbin would be home too but it seemed unlikely with how late he usually stayed at the studio. Little did Hyunjin know that Minho had already texted the rapper, asking him to come home because their little needed him.

By the time Minho led Hyunjin to the elevator, Changbin had already thrown the little’s favorite fuzzy blanket into the drier, so it’d be nice and warm for him. He was just heating up a pot of milk on the stove when the front door opened and Hyunjin’s bag hit the ground with a dull thud. “Welcome home, honey”, Changbin called out as he stirred some chocolate into the milk to melt it. He didn’t get a reply but only moments later, two slender arms wrapped themselves around his middle and when he turned, he came face to face with his pouty dongsaeng. Pressing a kiss to Hyunjin’s pout, Changbin smiled: “Now, what’s with the frown? Is our princess having a bad day? It’s okay, lovely. Hyung’s making some hot chocolate and your blanket’s in the drier. Maybe Minho-hyung can take you to retrieve it. It should be all nice and warm for you now.”

“Hyung, chu hewp Jinnie?”, Hyunjin pouted softly as he turned to tug on Minho’s sleeve. Taking the boy’s hand, Minho smiled: “Of course! Come on, let’s get you all cozy with your blanket, so Binnie-hyung can finish the drinks.” The little clumsily waddled along and watched with big, innocent eyes as Minho opened the drier and pulled out his blanket. The older immediately wrapped the fuzzy material around Hyunjin’s shoulders before picking him up. Carrying his dongsaeng to the couch, Minho hummed: “Do you wanna watch a cartoon while we drink our hot chocolate?” – “Wan’ cuddwes”, Hyunjin shrugged, not really caring whether they turned on a cartoon. Changbin did anyway, so they’d have some soothing background noise, before he handed the little his sippy cup.

The rapper also served Minho a cup of hot chocolate, smiling: “I take it, we’re having a sleepover?” – “Seems like it but we’ll see how the evening progresses and how badly I’m needed at my apartment”, Minho chuckled. Shaking his head, Changbin snorted: “Very needed, as always. You have a slightly obsessed boyfriend if you haven’t noticed. Besides, I got this little princess taken care of, right, Jinnie?” – “Doesn’t mean that I don’t want some little Jinnie cuddles from time to time too”, Minho reminded, hugging the boy tightly and nuzzling his face into his hair. It was just what Hyunjin had needed after such a bad day.
