The next days, Y/N was bedridden on Finans' orders until her thigh healed. Most of the days, Y/N spent it asleep, curled up next to Finan or Sihtric. Finan made sure that the woman was comfortable and even tried to cook for her as a way of apologising. Sihtric, on the other hand, was quiet, staying at her side so she knew he was there.
"Sihtric." Y/N rolled over with a huff, her face on his bare stomach. Sihtric stroked her hair. "Can I leave. I'm bored, and Finan is stressing me out."
"I can hear you, woman." The two of them chuckled at Finans words. Finan had been trying his best to attend to his wife's needs.
"Alright, but if you get in pain, I'm dragging you back." Y/N kissed his stomach, accepting the answer. It would be good for her to leave their cottage.

Y/N shuffled herself up, sitting on him, slightly wincing at the sudden movement of her thigh. Sihtric placed his hand over the bruised scarring. Her leg had started to heal nicely, but it left an ugly scar. Y/N placed her hand on his cheek before placing a kiss on his lips, feeling the urge to taste him.
"Will Uhtred save Athelflaed?" She asked him, feeling horrible that she has been kidnapped, knowing what it feels like.
"Me and Rypere are to go to Beamfleot to spy on Sigefrid's men." Y/N sat up on his lap with a frown, his arm supporting her waste.
"Don't look at me like that Y/N. You know I would rather spend my days with you, but I doubt Finan is any good at spying."
"I can still hear you." Finan shouted from downstairs.
"I don't want both of you to leave me, but I know Uhtred has good intentions." Sihtric kissed her forehead before placing his forehead against her, closing his eyes.
"I will never leave you."

Finan and Y/N watched Sihtric leave with Rypere. She knew her husband would do well as a spy, but she still could not help but worry. She had hoped Æthelflaed was still alive
"I take it you won't train me." Y/N joked, looking at her husband with a smile. Finan shook his head.
"Y/N. You will be the death of me." Finan grabbed her face, kissing her, before wrapping his arm around her.
"Finan. Is that the monk?" Y/N pointed, noticing the baby monk that passed through the gates.
"Lord." Finan sighed, "he really does want to join us." Y/N playfully pushed his arm before taking his sword with a grin, bouncing on her feet. Finan watched her amused before flinching to see her reaction, in which Y/N stepped back. She moved swiftly, eyeing him as he did it again. This time, Y/N moved forward, aiming at his calf, causing him to hiss. Finan was good at avoiding the blows but allowed her to hit him a few times, wanting to feel her strength. He was impressed with her skills. She was still slow, but her arms gave her the strength to hit hard enough. Quickly, Finan grabbed the sword, pulling her arm, making her drop the sword, looking at her with a smile leaning in to kiss her. Y/N smirked and kicked him in the shins, making him drop to the floor before picking the sword up, placing him at his neck.
"Dead." She said. With a proud look on her face. Finan smirked, sitting on his knees.

Y/N threw the sword, kissing Finan deeply, her hands gripping his tunic.
"You are an amazing woman." Finan breathed out, ignoring the monk that had approached the two.
"Lord. Lady." Y/N shoved Finan, curious to see what the monk had wanted.
"Forgive me. I was looking for Lord Uhtred." The monk looked nervous, unsure what to do.
"Probably bedding his wife." The monk's face blushed a deep red, clearly never hearing such words before.
"Forgive my husband for his lewd comments. Lord Uhtred may still be at the pier." Finan shrugged, almost amused at the situation.
"Thank you, Lady." The monk turned away, heading to where she said Uhtred was.
"Stop it." Y/N shoved Finan as he sarcastically waved the monk goodbye before turning back to his wife.

For the first time, Y/N felt nervous. Sihtric hadn't sent Rypere back to Cookham, and it had been three days. Finan had tried to distract her by teaching her to fight every mourning as promised, but it didn't work. Instead, she spent today in the church praying.
"Lady. Forgive me. I hope you don't mind me coming to pray." The monk quietly stumbled in the small church, awkwardly shuffling on his feet.
"Carry on. I was just leaving." Y/N dusted her dress off, smiling at the monk, who looked around the small church.
"It is not much, but my sister Hild wishes to build a bigger one."
"Will the Lord Uhtred allow it?" Y/N nodded, knowing Hild had started the preparations.
"In due time."
"Y/N! Y/N!" Y/N bid her goodbyes to the Monk, hearing Finan call out to her.
