Bismarck the small city in North Dakota is the capital of the state, and named after the German leader Otto Von Bismarck. It has a dominance of German settlers there trying to get by with life. But it is known to have many crooks and degenerates inside the city breaking the system and getting away with most crimes. The Royal Express though, has a reputation of not getting robbed...until now.
It is the main city where the Red Wolf would do some trades and selling of some items he has either found or obtained in a certain way. Whatever was hunted would be given to the butchers in the city or the trappers who pay very good prices. Though he remains in Jamestown as it was his current residence and he has a connection with. The city is filled with cold winds, rats and corrupted lawmen. Though he always makes his visits brief or if they were important.
For now it was the late morning as he stood at the counter of a pawnbrokers with whatever valuables and jewels he had from his heist ready to sell.
His eyes were beyond baggy as he was basically blinking a lot just to stay awake, just for a few moments. He was slouched as well, a long night it was for him. For the last 2 days it was the most tiring he had been for his heist. He would be renting a hotel for a much needed rest soon after this pawnshop ordeal.
"Hey sleepyhead that's a big haul you've got there." The shop keeper said as he looked with his magnifying glass on a earring.
"Aye, it came from an inheritance. My late uncle passed and I'm his favourite nephew. He certainly loved his collection of pocket watches and rings. He like's impressing the ladies a lot." Robert lied as he stifled a yawn.
"Well, it's all in order. I can give you $1050."
"Nice, thanks for doing business with me."
The man pulled out the hard paper stacks of money to the Red Wolf as Robert began counting the money. This would be enough for him! The debt can be settled...and the O'Driscolls might leave him alone once and for all. Maybe a bit extra to give to the poor people as well. It certainly wouldn't hurt to be charitable.
"You know, my cousin Ernest had a pocket watch like this." The shopkeeper noted as he looked at one of the trinkets that was handed over. The green eyes darted back to him, caution and suspicion easily struck his mind. Trying to read the shopkeeper Robert opened his mouth of charisma.
"Really? Well I guess my uncle had an interest in silver clocks. I guess your cousin had similar tastes."
"Yeah well...I'll talk to him whenever he comes back from Canada." Robert paused his counting with an awkward feeling in him.
"Sure."
And he just put the money into his coat pocket. Though the pawnbroker looked at Robert's left hand noticing a bit of silver around his finger.
"Say, that ring your wearing, can I see it?"
He pointed at the silver ring of which looked quite detailed and old fashioned made, but what made it stand out was its signature green emerald on the ring.
"It's not for sale." Robert answered.
"That looks like a gem to me."
"Sure, it's an emerald. Was given to me by my father."
"Well, I'm sure he would've also wanted you to be rich. I can get about another 3000 if you wish to pawn it off."
Oh hell no. That ring is means more to him than anyone could think. That ring was a last piece he has of someone he loved the most. No-one was gonna take it away form him, even if it was more than enough cash to square his debt to Colm.
