"LEAVE ME ALONE!!" Freen shouted at the top of her voice.
Becky took a step back in shock at the strong reaction. Becky had heard her loud and clear.
"HEY!"
Someone shouted from across the garden.
It was Irin.
"What are you doing?" She shouted across the garden drawing eyes. "Irin, it's okay calm down" Becky interrupted.
Irin now conscious of numerous eyes on her made her way over to Becky and wedged herself between her and Freen. "It's okay Irin" Becky said, "Freen it's okay, I get it, I've heard you. You won't hear from me again."
Irin stared Freen down for a moment till Becky grabbed her by the wrist saying "let's go home". They headed off back into the market while Freen watched on slightly irked by Irin's protectiveness of Becky.
Freen's heart sank. "You won't hear from me again", for some reason those words hurt her deeply. Now noticing her heart beating out of her chest, she looked down to see her fist also clenched. Her body was reacting to something.
Freen had now been standing there for the last 10 minutes trying to soothe herself back to normal but could not. Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was a young girl who's eyes were twinkling with admiration at the sight of Freen. Freen's face softened as she greeted the young child. She took a picture with her and spent extra time speaking to her in order to leave her inspired. This was the Freen the public knew, the inspiring, hardworking and fearless Freen she had worked so hard to create.
Freen entered her car and sat in it for a moment again thinking of Becky. She took a deep breath in and hardened her expression once more as she started the car.
The next morning in the office the atmosphere was tense. Freen would usually interact with the rest of the team, she would usually have a morning meeting to set the tone for the day, she would usually pick up all her calls and book in time to speak to her team one on one. But today, she had been locked up in her office all day. Any time she came out of her office she did not say a word or look in anybody's direction. The tension was palpable.
-KNOCK! KNOCK!-
There was a knock at the door.
Freen did not respond. Suddenly the door handle began to jerk. Freen stood up in irritation and went to open the door. She swung the door open. It was Nam and Noey.
"Fee!" Nam exclaimed.
Freen jolted in shock, rolled her eyes and returned to her seat.
Nam and Noey showed themselves in, unfazed by her impolite greeting.
"Good Morning!" Noey said cheerfully
"Morning Fee, we wanted to check on you after last night." Nam continued.
"You told them?" Freen questioned
"So what happened? Were you actually able to keep your feelings hidden from her?"
"What?" Freen asked.
"I mean did you tell her you like her?" Nam repeated.
"Tell her I like her? - I tried to explain that she should stop haunting me but she didn't understand." Freen explained.
Nam got up and made her way behind Freen's desk.
-SMACK!-
"Ouch!" Freen exclaimed
"Are you a dummy?!" Nam threatened
Noey burst out into laughter.
"Why did you hit me?" Freen asked
"You really don't know that you like the girl?" Nam said
"That really hurt. You can't just hit me this is my office." Freen complained
"Freen. Talk us through exactly what happened." Noey says.
"I met her at diversity, I thought she was pretty, she came home with me, we had sex. She made us breakfast, we spoke. I went to grandmothers and came back. As soon as I got home that night the symptoms began" Freen dictates
"How did you feel when you were with her?" Nam asks
"..." Freen paused
"Scared." Freen says
"Like when you watch a scary movie?" Noey asks "No, like when I have a big presentation" Freen clarifies
"So you were nervous." Noey concludes
Noey and Nam look at each other and smile.
"When do you usually get this nervous?" Nam asks
"When I'm scared of losing something or if something feels unfamiliar or if I'm excited" Freen replies
"Is that how you feel about the girl?" Noey asks
"No, she's put a spell on me. I can't sleep or think straight" Freen insists
"Dummy! It's no use Noey let's go!" Nam exclaims, Nam exits the office and Noey follows behind.
"Fee! For god sake go talk to your team it's like a funeral out there" Noey says before shutting the door to Freen's office.
Freen sat back in her desk chair looking at the ceiling. Noey's words rang in her ears, "Is that how you feel about the girl?"
Freen suddenly flashed back to the night they met and the way she felt when she was with Becky. She had convinced herself that Becky was controlling her but knew in her heart that she had lost control all on her own. She liked the girl.
-KNOCK! KNOCK!-
"Another visitor?!" Freen thought.
"Come in!" Freen exclaimed.
The door creeped open slowly to reveal Freen's fiancé Non.
