He laughed, "It wasn't all me. Heidi was the perfect choice to take on the role of General Manager. She really is something"
"Yeah?" Freen asked
"Didn't you used to have a crush on her speedy?" Heng asked
"No!" Freen said firmly

Heng smiled skeptical of her answer. He grabbed Freen's shoulder and turned her towards him. "The point is, look at your creation Speedy. This is who you are. You're a forced to be reckoned with, much better in business than I am, successful in so many ways. You've always been a beautiful person inside and out. You're too good for most of the rest of the world. You're not selfish or sensitive or irrational. You're not easily hurt or broken." Heng said.

Freen looked out at diversity. She was proud of her accomplishments of course but what Heng wasn't aware of was how much Freen had to sacrifice compared to him. She was broken, if not by grief then by self sacrifice. She remembered how contentious it was when she ventured out of MonSam as a corporation to start her own business. She remembered giving up on her desires in order to join the business per her grandmothers request. Heng did not remember that. Heng had always desired to take over the business but Freen only decided to join the family business after her parents died.

She remembered being suffocated by the expectations that her father had previously shielded her from. Her grandmother wanted her first granddaughter to become the heir of course. She loved her grandmother but with her grandmother she never felt like a person. She always felt like a tool. Most people in her life treated her like a tool even the well meaning ones.

That's why she left to start her own business but inevitably Freen struggled to fulfil her family duties on her own terms and was still forced to come back to MonSam. She allowed her independent business to be acquired by her grandmothers corporation in order to keep the family strong.

She had already been through so much and sacrificed so much for the family business and wasn't so sure what she was doing it for any longer. Was it in memory of her parents? Was it for reputation? Or to maintain wealth?

Freen sighed.
"You're right Heng. I am successful, a force to be reckoned with and yes, I'm not easily shaken. But maybe I should be more sensitive and impulsive. Maybe I should let you see the brokenness in me that you believe does not exist" Freen said looking Heng dead in the eye.

Heng was taken back. He stared back at her and in that moment determined in his heart to find out what had changed his sister. He determined to learn more about Becky and her relationship with Freen.

-

The following day Heng was up at the crack of dawn and when Freen woke up she noticed. The smell of breakfast drew Freen out of her sleep. She tip toed downstairs still in her pyjamas.

The table was already set for Freen and Heng was brewing a coffee for himself and warming up Milk Tea for Freen.

"Here you go! Chwee Kueh and Red Bean Milk Tea! Your favourite." Heng said wearing a ridiculously chirpy smile.
"Uh... thanks" Freen replied

"So what's the plan for today?" Freen asked"Well

"So what's the plan for today?" Freen asked
"Well.. first breakfast then I HAVE to show you the labs, you're going to love it" Heng said excitedly
"Sure sure, as long as we go into the city after. It's Noey's birthday soon and I have to get them Kaya Jam. Noey loves Kaya Jam" Freen replied

Heng could already feel Freen pulling away from the business. It was as though last night she had made up her mind to do everything she wanted to for once. Heng didn't know how long this would last but was both worried and excited for her for it's duration.

"The car's nearly here!" Heng jumped up, "you need to get ready quickly" he continued, grabbing Freen's plate before she was done. Heng began to clean up but was interrupted when he recieved a call. Freen made her way upstairs to get ready.

"Hello?" Heng said
.....
"Just be patient with me. I found what we need, it's just not currently in my possession..." He continued
