Becky woke up in good spirits. She stretched her arms above her head as though she had just gotten the best nights sleep in a long time.

Becky kept flashing back to the taxi ride when Freen laid her head on her shoulder for the entire journey. She knew Freen was awake and chose to do it. She couldn't help but have a little hope.

Many things Freen had done that night had mistakenly expressed her true feelings. Like when she showed concern for Becky's choice to throw away her career to become her secretary.

Becky jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs humming. When she entered the kitchen she saw Ma and Richie laughing. It was like a scene at the end of a Disney movie where theres a montage of the family being happy in the end and is accompanied by inspirational music as well as a lessons learnt narration by the main protagonist.

Becky was happy to see Richie and Ma smiling. They didn't seem to have any care in the world. They had been healing from Da's death and the worry of Becky's looming death had left their mind. Becky didn't want to change that so never told them that she was still going to die early because the curse had not actually been broken yet.

"Becky, want some?" Richie said
"Yes please!" Becky replied

Becky grabbed a plate and served herself.
Richie and Ma were talking about the time Da got Ma a pack of biscuits for their anniversary and Ma had gotten really upset at the gesture that Da clearly thought was extremely romantic. Becky also laughed.

As they ate, the Armstrong family felt warm and light and it was so refreshing to see. After spending time with the family divided, then in fight mode trying to stay safe, this was a welcomed break.

When Becky finished her food she washed everyone's plates and cleaned up the cooking utensils too. Her Ma kept her company in the kitchen talking and joking. When they were done Becky went back up to her room.

She spread herself on the bed. This was the lightest she had felt in months and she enjoyed it. The thought of Freen creeped up on her once more. As happy as Becky was to have reconnected and to be near Freen again she realised that Freen must have been going through a lot yesterday with the disappearance of her brother.

"Marlin!" Becky called out.

Blue mist rose in Becky's room and Marlin appeared, "Not my..." he said
"Yes yes 'not your Rebecca,' I know. I have a question." Becky said
"What is it?" Marlin replied

Becky paced up and down.
"How much of your power has come back?" Becky asked
"Pretty much all of it" he replied
"WHAT?!" Becky exclaimed

"Well I thought you'd given up on life. Accepted your fate. Wanted to spend the rest of your time with her. And all that." Marlin said sarcastically
"Marlin!" Becky shouted
"Yes?" He replied

"Why didn't you tell me? Were you just waiting for me to die?" Becky said
"I wouldn't let that happen" Marlin replied
"So you decided to lie?" Becky asked
"Genie's can't lie." Marlin concluded

Becky stepped away and calmed herself down.
"Anyway, I need your help" Becky said
"Sure" Marlin said
"I want to do what's needed to lift the curse but first I need you to save Freen's brother, Heng, he's been kidnapped." Becky stated
"Sure" Marlin replied
"Wow. That was easy." Becky said relieved

Becky sat on the sofa next to her bed. She took a deep breath in knowing that Freen would be okay.
"...but" Marlin said
Becky looked up at Marlin.
"But?" Becky asked with a little worry in her voice.

"Before I grant your wish, you'll have to survive the three tests that will finally break your curse. Time, fortitude and empathy." Marlin said
"This again? I've already tried. Can't we do it after we save Heng?" Becky said
"Yes. We can but we won't. We're doing it now. Plus only tried once and gave up NOT MY REBECCA." Marlin rolled his eyes.

"Marlin, someone's life is in the balance. This isn't the time for games." Becky said
"Do I strike you as the type of genie that plays games?" Marlin asked
"Yes." Becky said

Marlin slammed his palms together. Took a deep breath that invited blue mist into the room.
"Let's get started," he said
