Richie and Becky had set up a lab in Freen's living room. The house was now clean but the lab was busy. Billy had been helping Richie with covert surveillance on the palace. They'd been taking turns doing the Night Shift so as to not miss a single bit of intel.
Becky had been conducting viability tests on her hypothesis into inter-dimensional travel. Becky had thought up a plan she believed would save everyone but cracking inter dimensional travel was essential. So she had not slept much since last Monday. It was now Thursday.
"How are you doing BB?" Freen asked
"I'm good." Becky replied
Freen gently kissed Becky on the forehead
"You sure?" Freen asked
"Yeah..." Becky replied
"Want breakfast?" Freen asked
"Uhhh..." Becky said absentmindedlyFreen had already started bringing eggs out of the fridge.
Heng came down the stairs and stretched his arms. He seemed to be the only one who had been sleeping properly."Morning All!" Heng said with a pep in his step and a bright grin beaming on his face.
The atmosphere didn't change, it was still high pressure and intense but everyone reluctantly cracked a smile. Heng could do that to you."Here. Eat." Freen said presenting Becky with avocado on toast with eggs on the side.
"Mmm.." Becky said
Freen sat down next to Becky and cut up the toast into smaller pieces. She then looked at Becky lovingly and started stroking her hair.
Becky's concentration finally broke.
"Oh...You don't have to do that." Becky said
Freen persisted then fed her a piece of toast.
"Thank you." Becky said
"Mmm"Freen had to sit by Becky to make sure she ate and when she was done Freen went to wash up. Freen knew something was bothering Becky, she had come to understand Becky's body language very well. She didn't ask as she knew it wasn't the right time. She also hid her worry so that Becky would not become even more uncomfortable or agitated.
Freen went up to her room where her and Becky had been staying. She stood in the doorway for a moment staring at Marlins lamp. Then sat on Becky's side of the bed.
She reluctantly picked up the lamp."Marlin!" She called out
Marlin popped out quickly, almost like he was expecting her.
"Sarocha, so that time has already come." Marlin said
"What time?" Freen asked
"Nothing. How can I help you?" Marlin said
"Urmm..." Freen hesitated"I don't have all day. Spit it out." Marlin said
"It's about Becky" Freen said
"Yes?" Marlin said
"Did something happen while she was Astro projecting?" Freen asked
"Nothing physical." Marlin saidFreen scowled at Marlin
"Meaning?" Freen asked
"She's physically fine." Marlin said
"So she's psychologically or emotionally not fine?" Freen asked
"Well..." Marlin started
"Look, as hard as it is for me to trust uh... people ... I heard what you did to save her life. I know you care about her. So you're not fooling me. You treat her like your own kin so I know I'm the one who has to impress you, not the other way around." Freen said softlyMarlin stared at Freen and smiled
"You're exactly the same as before." Marlin said
"Yes, I've always cared about her." Freen said
"She saw a lot over the 24 hours she was in the past. She may have seen a lot that affected her deeply. You should ask her about it. It would do her good to talk about it." Marlin said"WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!" Richie called out from downstairs
Freen immediately turned around.
"Thank you Marlin." Freen said
"Least I could do." Marlin said
