Chapter 20 👖

Becky took a deep breath. "Ok, what about the accident and Richie protecting us?" Becky asked

Richie looked at his Ma who gave the okay for him to tell Becky.
"Two weeks ago, Da attended one of his usual meetings in the city. I tagged along because he said the meeting would only be 30minutes long. After waiting for a few hours I went to check on him and found him unconscious on the floor, he got attacked. They were trying to steal the genie essence." Richie said
"They?" Becky asked

"I don't know who they are but Da said they were dangerous" Richie said
Becky looked at her Ma worried

Richie continued "After that, Da told me everything. He told me where to find the 2 essences he had already collected and asked me to bring it home and to watch over you and Ma while he tried to sort things out in London. He said he would return when he had the final essence and when it was safe to do so."
"What? I know Da is big and tall but he's not a spy, why would he do that?" Becky asked

"I haven't heard from him since I arrived in Bangkok so I had to tell Ma the morning after I arrived" Richie explained
"So that's why you were both acting so strangely" Becky said
"It looks like some of the guys who attacked Da in London followed me back home. They've been threatening us. Firstly with letters to Ma and then letters to you Becky" Richie continued
"Right, so Da has been missing for nearly a week?!" Becky asked panicked at the thought
"That almost explains everything" she continues

"The accident?" Richie asks
"Yes," Becky confirmed
"I went to see Chen yesterday and on my way back I noticed a motorcycle following me home so I tried to lose it"
Ma smacks Richie on the back of his head
"Who do you think you are Richie? Tony Jaa?" Ma said rolling her eyes.

Becky walked over to her duffle bag and pulled out the blue perfume. "Is this what you're talking about?"
"Where did you get that?" Ma said
"I found it in your closet" Becky said

Just then the doctor entered the room without warning. Becky instinctively hid the genie essence.

"Oh sorry, was I interrupting something?" He said
"No come in" Becky said
"Ok great, so Richie you're going to be discharged tomorrow, your cast has set and you can take a wheelchair with you. You'll need a lot of rest but come back in 6 weeks so we can take another x-ray" he said
"Okay thanks Doc" Richie said
"Can we get someone to sign for the treatments administered?" He continued
"Yes I'll come with you" Becky said

Becky left the room with the doctor and followed him to the reception. He picked up some forms from the nurses reception.
"Sign here, and here!" He said
Becky signed the forms and handed them back to the nurse.

"Oh miss Armstrong, your friend left you a change of clothes" the nurse said
"Friend?" Becky asked
"Yes, Miss Chankimha" she said

Becky was shocked at how nice Freen was being, for a moment she entertained the idea that Freen might actually like her but a sobering thought followed closely behind.

Becky collected the bag from the nurse and opened it up. Everything inside was incredibly expensive. Becky could not wear that. She went into her duffle bag and grabbed her hoody and jeans. "That was considerate of her" becky thought.

Becky brought out her phone to send Freen a thank you message.
