FORTUNE: A FREENBECKY STORY

Chapter 95 ⚜️

Months had passed and a new government was formed with a promising new and pioneering young woman. The country had been without its monarch but the country began to run normally. It was almost as though they did not need one.

On the heel of this, after a year had passed, Becky returned.

"Hi Heng." Becky smiled as she walked into diversity for the first time in over a year and a half.
Heng got up from the bar where he was sitting and having a drink with Billy.

Billy looked up and immediately ran to Becky enveloping her in his embrace.
"Woah, Billy, I never knew you liked me this much." Becky said sarcastically
"Oh, yeah, welcome back" Billy said as he blushed
"You're back." Heng said
"I'm back." Becky replied
"Where did you go?" Heng asked
"To prepare." Becky said
"For what?" Billy asked
"...the rest of this life without Freen." Becky replied with confidence in her voice

They sat at the bar.
"What are We drinking?" Heng asked
"Vodka Cranberry" Becky said

"So, what's been happening?" Becky asked
"We're getting married." Heng said
"Arwwww, congratulations." Becky cheered
"Thanks!" Heng and Billy said

"You'll be attending this one then?" Heng asked
"Oh yeah, I'm never going to live that down." Becky said
"Have you seen Richie?" Billy asked
"Not yet. I'm going straight home after this, I promise. I just had to put a few things in order first." Becky said

"Also, we have a new prime minister." Billy said
"Ah yea, I saw. Promising too." Becky replied
"You saw?" Heng asked
"I kept myself in the know." Becky replied
"Why did you choose to come back now?" Heng asked
"I can't run away from my responsibility forever, like I did the last time. It was a little easier this time admittedly. Because of what I know." Becky said
"You mean the responsibility of ruling?" Billy asked
"Yes." Becky replied

Billy downed his drink.
"Well I think you may have to win the people over or convince them of your claim to the throne. You've been gone for a long time. The people have come to believe they no longer want a monarch." Billy said
"No. I am their queen. But I will spend the rest of this life proving I'm worthy." Becky said
"This life?" Heng said
Becky smiled.

Heng laughed which was something he didn't do as much these days.
"It's good to have you back! I know Freen would have wanted us to take care of each other for the rest of our lives. You're as good as a sister to me." Heng said
"I guess we have a coronation to plan?" Billy said
"We do!" Heng said

—BREAKING NEWS—
"The would be Queen has return and will be crowned in a month despite the lack of explanation as to her whereabouts for the last year. "

A month passed and news of the coronation was received with mixed reviews. Many loved the history that a monarchy added to the country and others saw it as a money making and control scam. Despite their thoughts the coronation did go ahead and Becky was crowned Queen Rebecca Armstrong II.

Rebecca carried out her duties for 70 years until she died. Her reign was gentle and just and inspired the people in a way they had not been inspired in centuries. She was remembered as a good ruler, the people nicknamed her 'The Gentle Destroyer Queen'.

Marlin did not visit her all this time but kept watch as he continued to build the genie realm to its former glory.

On her death bed Rebecca gave a compelling speech that shaped the course of Thai government for years to come. A speech the people called 'Hearts of Flesh'. The speech conveyed perfectly the balance between the struggle of life and the mental resolve to persist in love. The words:
"Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place." is still used often by public figures today.

Her duties now fulfilled Becky rested.

A few centuries passed and Rebecca had not reincarnated. Marlin continued to watch, hoping for the day she would and after a thousand years she did.

When she was of adult age Marlin immediately returned to her. With the crown and his time in the genie realm Marlin was more powerful than ever.
Marlin appeared to her out of the blue to her surprise, the knowledge of genies with time had faded away and so this was not a natural occurrence. He nearly gave her a heart attack.

"Rebecca, my Rebecca, in every time and every iteration you remain my family." Marlin declared
"Urrrr... " Rebecca said
"I know you're confused but..." Marlin placed his palm on her forehead bringing her memory back.

Becky tilted her head back and her eyes widened.
When she came to she stared at Marlin. They did not say a word to each other for a long agonising minute.

"Marlin." Rebecca said
"Rebecca." Marlin replied
"How did you do that?" She asked
"Oh that? That's nothing. Welcome back. It's been over 1000 years. I brought you a precious gift." Marlin said
"Is she here? In this time?" She asked
"She is." Marlin confirmed

Out of Marlin's shadow walked Freen.
"Hi BB." Freen said
"You remember?" Rebecca asked
"All our lifetimes. It seems we've had a few." Freen said
"How?" Rebecca asked
"Marlin" Freen replied
"Thank you." Rebecca said turning to Marlin
Marlin nodded.

"I'm sorry I left you. Marlin and I discussed this contingency just in case. I couldn't risk the chance of hurting you. I had to end it quickly while I was conscious." Freen said
Rebecca pulled Freen into her embrace and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips. Rebecca smiled.
"Every time I lost you it was for a purpose. In every lifetime unfortunately we both had our path to follow. But now the curse is broken and I believe we have fulfilled that purpose, so what remains is for us to fall in love with each other in every lifetime again and again forever. The last time I lost you the only thing that kept me was knowing this. Knowing that we would find each other again and again forever. It is our Fortune, this love is our fortune." Becky said

Marlin smiled.
