Chapter 80 🛌

In that instant Becky was jolted back to reality.
"Are you okay?" Freen said caressing her cheek
Becky looked up at Freen startled and pushed her hand away. She began to rub her eyes and body frantically.

"Becky! Calm down! Becky it's me" Freen said
Becky pushed her away again
"Marlin what's happening?" Freen said
Marlin looked at Becky
"She's just startled and readjusting" Marlin said

"What did you find out? How can we stop this?" Billy asked
"Billy..." Heng said signalling Billy
"I think she needs rest" Freen said
Freen scooped Becky up into her arms and carried her upstairs and then laid her on the bed.
Within a few seconds she was asleep.
Freen tucked her hair behind her ears.

"I was so worried you have no idea. Not having you with me even for a day scared the life out of me. I thought I knew how much you meant to me before when I told you I loved you but now it's so much more. It keeps growing. I don't know what I'll do if I ever lose you." Freen said
Freen sighed a sigh of relief then placed a kiss on Becky's forehead
"I'm glad you're back" Freen said

When Freen left the room Becky opened her eyes. Becky lay there shaken up by the events that not only took place in the genie kingdom but also the events she witnessed subsequently.

There was no explaining it. She saw herself kill Freen, viciously slit Freen's throat. She looked down at her hands and they were shaking. Becky tried to rationalise if the images were from the past or of the future. What she knew was that it didn't matter she now felt like she was a danger to Freen.

Becky slept for just over 6 hours and in the late afternoon Becky finally came downstairs.
"Becky!" Freen exclaimed
"I'm okay" Becky smiled
"You sure?" Richie said
"Yeah" Becky said as she made her way to the dinning table and sat down

"So?" Billy said
"Billy!" Heng scolded
"Our country is in chaos, I think we've been patient enough" Billy said
Heng looked away, Billy sighed
"Sorry Becky, how are you feeling?" Billy asked

Becky laughed
"It's okay Billy. You're right. I didn't realise I slept for so long." Becky said
Freen smiled, she was happy to see Becky laugh
"You needed the rest. Especially because of the detour you took. Are you really back?" Marlin said
Becky gave Marlin a knowing look.

"I spent a day in the genie kingdom as their prince. I was able to see how they became violent and who their leader is and his mindset." Becky said
"How do we stop them?" Billy asked
"That's the thing, I think I know but I feel like the story was unfinished." Becky said looking at Marlin

"You seem to have recovered now. You can go back." Marlin said
"She's not going anywhere." Freen said as she grabbed Becky's hand
"Marlin, I don't think I can go back there either. The experience was... chilling" Becky said

Marlin floated over to Becky and got up close. He stared into Becky's eyes.
"Hmmm... fine. I'll tell you the rest."
They all sat down.
"So I left off when the king of genies, Mardin died and warned me about Wildens plan." Becky said
"Yes, well... Wilden went on to kill those who supported the prince for the throne and took the genie throne himself. The prince went into hiding in a cave that housed the spirits of human ancestors while Wilden declared all out war on the humans. Many human-friendly genie who believed in Mardin's philosophy migrated to the human world. They joined arms with the humans having been fond of them. They deemed them worthy of partnership and saving. When the war began it took place in the genie plains but when the effects of war began to affect the innocent, the humans took a drastic action and seemed to destroy the gate that connected their world to the genie world ending the conflict permanently. And they did. But in the process they also destroyed a lot of the genie dimension. Having no home the genies that allied with the humans were subsequently exploited. Most of them went into hiding in order to avoid exploitation which is why humankind for the most part is unaware of the existence of genie or believe it to be a myth." Marlin said

They all sighed.
"Humans..." Freen said
"I would assume Wilden and his supporters have been coming here a long time waiting and biding their time." Marlin said
Becky was deep in thought.
The words of the king rang in her ears, "I'm bound by magic and can only say this to one person once," she thought

Becky stood up.
"I think I get it now... why you sent me back." Becky said
