3 weeks had passed since Richie was discharged. Becky still had not told her family about the genie essence in Freen's closet. It would have been hard to explain how she knew Freen in that way, how she ended up in Freen's house and how she found it in her closet. Too complicated.

Becky was returning to work after taking an extended leave to help Richie and her Ma. She had missed 3 weeks of the semester already and was ready to meet her students. Baitoey had graciously offered to cover her students while she was away.

Before classes started Becky had agreed to meet Baitoey for coffee. She owed her a coffee and more. Baitoey had been extremely kind to her since they met.

Becky left the house early so her Ma and Richie were still sleeping. She walked about 5 minutes over the road to a roots coffee shop and got a small table out of the way.

The tv was on above the counter and the morning news was on - "Thailand is considered highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Extreme heat and rising sea levels threaten parts of Thailand, including the capital city of Bangkok. Erosion is considered a major problem due to climate change within the country." The newscaster said.

Becky glanced at her watch and realising she was a little early so she pulled out a book to read. It was called 'The Pink Theory'. The book was a scientific hypothesis surrounding a further explanation of the decomposition of light.

The door rang when it swung open. Baitoey walked through the door. She waved and smiled cheerfully at Becky.

"Heeeeeeeeeey" Baitoey said hesitantly
"Hey!" Becky said with a smile
"Thank god, I guess you're not upset I put you up for the auction then?" Baitoey asked
"So it WAS you!" Becky exclaimed
Becky laughed "No, I guess I was just surprised by just about everything that happened that day. And I've been busy enough so" Becky continued
"So you're not upset?" Baitoey asked
"I'm not upset" Becky confirmed

"How's your brother?" Baitoey asked with a sigh of relief
"He's doing much better" Becky replied
"Good. I'll get us some coffee" she said
"No, I owe you one remember" Becky insisted

Becky got up and said "flat white?" as she made her way to the coffee counter
Baitoey nodded and took her seat at the table, surprised that Becky remembered her order.

Becky sat back down having put the order in.
"How've the students been?" Becky asked
"They're really bright and really promising, it's so nice to be inspired by them and to inspire them" Baitoey smiled

Becky found that attractive, when someone cared deeply about what they did and cared also about paying it forward. Becky was blushing.

Baitoey noticing withdrew.
"Hey Becky, what's going on with you and Freen?" She asked
"What do you mean?" Becky answered
"I mean, you guys seem to know each other and very well" Baitoey said
"Oh you mean at the auction?" Becky said
"Yes" Baitoey responded

"Hmmm.. How do you know Freen anyway?" Becky asked
"I went to university with her older brother and our families are close" Baitoey said
"Of course they are" Becky muttered
"What?" Baitoey asked
"Nothing" Becky replied

"We got off on the wrong foot so she was just trying to mock me, but I think we're friends now" Becky continued
Baitoey wasn't buying it. "It didn't look like that to me" she said
"Mmm... what did it look like to you?" Becky asked
"It seemed like she really liked you" Baitoey replied

Becky shuddered. She could not let herself hope again in the idea of Freen. She refused to let Baitoey's words sink in.

The coffee arrived and they both took a sip. After a brief silence Becky said "I used to think YOU really liked me"
Baitoey looked up and said "I do"
They both smiled

"Oh I got you a thank you gift for covering my students while I was away" Becky said pulling out a gift box
"Arww you didn't have to" Baitoey said
"It's something small but I think you'll like it" Becky said

Baitoey put her cup of coffee down and opened the bag. It was a Latte Art Tool set for milk and foam. "I remember you like drawing on your coffee" Becky said

Becky didn't intend to flirt with Baitoey when she left home that day. She was just genuinely thankful to her. But now, in this moment, they seemed to have some chemistry so she decided to just go with it.

Becky felt at ease in Baitoey's company. She giggled and smiled continuing their conversation as she finished her coffee. In the background the tv volume increased, "breaking news!"

—BREAKING NEWS—
"A crowd formed in the center of Bangkok today where the prince and hier to the Thai throne Prince Non Vajiralongkorn III was out with his soon to be wife business mogul Freen Sarocha Chankimha. They met with and took pictures with the crowd before heading into their car."

Becky could see Baitoey's eyes float over to her in order to check her countenance.
