Chapter 59 🚁

"Non, what are you doing here?" Freen replied
Non spotted Heidi sitting in-front of Freen.
"Oh sorry is this a bad time is she one of your... special friends?" Non asked

"Special friends?" Heidi and Becky asked

"Forget it. Do you have any news?" Freen asked
"Yes! Billy is on his way to extract him. Once he has eyes on the location he'll send me an update. If everything goes well Heng will be home soon." Non said
"Thank you Non, thank you so much" Freen replied
"Don't thank me yet. I thought you'd want to be there, let's go." Non said
"Thank you." Freen said

Non turned to exit the room but before he did he looked up at the ceiling contemplatively.
"Also, we need to talk about something. But let's get Heng home first. Then we can talk." He said

Freen looked over at Heidi as if asking for permission to bail on their plans.
"Go!" Heidi said
"Becky, come with me." Freen said
Becky leaped out of her seat startled at the request but followed Non and Freen into the car.

Non drove for about an hour and everyone sat in silence. It was a bizarre car ride to say the least. When Non arrive at the destination Becky was overwhelmed. She had never been to the palace.

When they got out of the car there were several men on site. They were shuffled into a room with multiple monitors where they could wait to hear from Billy.

"Billy, are you there?" Non said
"Yes. We're about to go in. Radio silence" Billy said over the radio

Becky was standing at the back of the room watching and caught sight of Freen who was trembling. Before Becky could think she had stepped forward and grabbed Freen's hand tight. She knew and trusted that Heng would be okay. She had wished for it after all.

Freen did not take her eyes off the monitor but she began to calm down. She gripped onto Becky's hand tighter.

In what seemed like an instant Billy reported in.
"We've got him." Billy said
"Is he alive?" Non asked
Freen shuddered.
"He's alive. We're going to need a stretcher and blankets." Billy said

Freen fell to her knees and breathed out like it was the first time she had exhaled since Heng was kidnapped. Becky knelt to comfort her. Non was a little shocked as Freen had never been that vulnerable in front of him.

An hour passed.
Suddenly the juddering sound of helicopter blades filled the air. Freen's heart pounded faster the closer they got. Non led Freen out into the field where the helicopter was about to land.

Billy wheeled Heng across the field into the building Freen was standing in with a doctor on standby.

Freen leaped onto the stretcher as soon as it was close enough.
"Heng!" Freen exclaimed
"Hey Speedy." Heng said softly
"I'm going to kill You." She said tears streaming down her face.
"Are you sure I'm not already dead?" He coughed
"Don't even joke like that" Freen said

Heng looked past Freen further into the building and caught sight of Becky then smiled.
Freen rolled her eyes.
Billy continued to wheel Heng in as Freen clung on.
As they approached Becky, Heng grabbed Becky's hand, "thanks...for being here for her while I was gone." He said
"Uh it wasn't just me." Becky said a little startled

The doctor took over from Billy and wheeled Heng into a back room to treat him. Freen followed them inside.

Billy looked a mess. Non looked incredibly worried and the atmosphere was truly suffocating. Becky's instinct told her not to ask but her intuition would not let it go.
"Are you two okay?" Becky said
Billy looked up. "Becky right?" He said
"Urmm yes. How do you know my name?" Becky said

"I'm very familiar with you." He said
"...ok?" She replied
"Don't mind him Becky. He's an intelligence expert. It's his job to know or find out. He runs background checks on everyone close to me, my immediate or soon to be immediate family." Non said
"Right..." Becky said
"Don't worry though. There's nothing romantic between Freen and I." Non said with a smile
"Uh.. ok?" Becky said
Non smiled.

"Make yourself comfortable. As soon as Heng is stable I'll send you all home." Non said
"Thanks." Becky said
