Chapter 6

It is a few weeks later and i am sitting in my office... After the man had died in the cell i had gone back up to my room... I know the man was a criminal and probably had done unspeakable things and yet i felt guilty... I let my emotions take over... Emotions i didn't understand... Emotions i didn't want to have... Emotions that led me to instead of trying to save the man to make him tell me what they wanted to know... 

Days went by, and Tony healed... They were making plans to go to the base i had told them about... I was settling in nice and getting the hang of the job... Everyone seemed satisfied with how i was doing my job... Everything was running smoothly... And i had to admit i liked the job... I was getting along great with Wanda and Nat having lunches and going shopping... Tony introduced me to Pepper, and she was really nice to... 

All and all i got along with everyone... Even Steve seemed to be warming up to me... I would cook breakfast and dinner every day loving that little moment of normalcy with these people who were always running around... I knew they were making plans to go to the base i had mentioned the prisoner told me to find the man they called Bucky... I heard the story and felt for Steve... All he wanted was to save his friend...

There was a knock on the door and i looked up seeing Fury walk in... "How are you settling in?" He asks and i raise my eyebrow at him... "Really... You want to know how i am doing?" I say and he nods... "I hear nothing but good things about you... They all seem to like you..." He says and i chuckle... "I bet..." I say rolling my eyes and he smirks. 

"Yes, the captain is still on the fence... Trying to get me to replace you..." He says laughing and i look at him shocked because i though we were getting along better... "Did he now..." I say standing up fuming and Fury nods...

"Excuse me..." I say my blood boiling. "Jarvis... Where is captain Rogers right now?" I ask and Fury his eyes grow wide... "Cleo..." He says but i shake my head. "He is in a meeting... Conference room 3..." Jarvis tells me and before Fury can say anything i storm off... 

I reach the conference room and storm in... All the Avengers are there and looking at me surprised... "You went to Fury behind my back to fire me... Asking Fury to replace me?" I yell at Steve, and everyone looks from me to Steve... He stays quiet looking down... 

"Look at me you coward..." I yell and he looks up... "Get your head out of your ass Rogers... I am doing my job... And i think i am doing quite well... And as long as that is the case i am not going anywhere... So, either get on board or stay out of my way..." I yell, and turn around and walk out again... I can hear Nat and Tony yell at him as i walk away but i dont care... He brought this on himself... 

I walk back into my office and Fury is still sitting there and i sigh. "Feeling better now?" He asks me smiling and i sit down putting my head in my hands. "I just dont get it... I thought we were getting along... I mean we are not best friends but just got along..." I say and Fury leans forward... I look up and he smiles...

"They told me about you finding out about the base..." He says changing the subject... "I thought you weren't going to use it..." He mumbles and i sigh... "Who says i did..." I mumble and Fury raises his eyebrow and i sigh... 

"He was going to die anyway... Nothing i could do about it... So why not get something out of it..." I say shrugging my shoulders... The guilt i was feeling went away when Tony told me what the man had done... "Well i am here to tell you that we have a chance to bring Sergeant Barnes home and that is because of you... And even if Rogers will not admit it, he will be grateful for that..." Fury says and i scoff... "I really dont care... He pulls a stunt like this again and he is going to have pain like he never has felt before..." I growl the anger inside of me still fresh and Fury chuckles... "Just dont kill him..." He jokes and i smirk. "No promises..." I mumble and there is a knock on the door and Nat and Tony appear... 

Fury stands up and nods at them before walking out. "You okay?" Nat asks and i nod... "Capsicle was out of line... You are doing amazing and none of us share his need of replacing you..."  Tony says and i sigh... "Thanks..." I mumble and take a deep breath...

"I am guessing the meeting means you guys are leaving soon..." I say and they both nod... "Well i hope you bring Barnes home..." I say and they both look at me and smile... "Fury seems to trust you more than just an assistant... Why is that?" Tony asks with a smirk on his face... I shrug my shoulders... "I am a trustworthy person?" I say and Tony rolls his eyes... 

"Well, whatever it is we trust you to... and we hope that one person's idiocies will not make you quite we hate to lose you... We really think you are doing a great job..." Tony says and i smirk. "Dont worry... I will not let him chase me away... I will not give him the satisfaction..." I say and they both seem relieved. 

"We hope you trust us as well and know you can tell us everything... and with everything... We mean everything..." He says smiling with a twinkle in his eyes and i look at him like he has gone crazy... "Oookay..." I say and he smiles standing up Nat follows his lead... 

"We will leave tonight..." Tony says and walks out. Nat walks over to me and hugs me... "Dont worry we all promised him to help you kick his ass if he pulls a stunt like this again... I mean even he has to admit that your cooking is better than take out every night and our house has never been this organized..."  She says and i chuckle... 

"And what Tony said... Know you can trust us and can tell us anything... No judgement..." She says smiling before turning around and walking out leaving me a bit confused behind...
