You are currently mumbling to your self as you are going over a check list.
"ugh where did i put my pen?" you ask out loud looking at your clipboard.
Dolores walks over and takes the pen from behind your ear.
"you okay papi?" Dolores asks
"oh just trying to get everything written down so your mami doesn't have to stress out." you said
"his birthday isn't for a couple more weeks." Dolores reminds you.
"i know but i want to be prepared. your abuela needs to know what to get from the town also so she can order ahead. this is going to be the biggest party of the year." you said
"i mean we haven't had a gift ceremony in 10 years so i guess." Dolores said
you nod not wanting to remember your brother in law leaving and seeing your niece so devastated for not getting a gift.
"what do you think Tonito wants?" you asked.
You need to get the boy an amazing gift.
"a jaguar." Dolores said
"Lola im serious." you said
"so am I. that's what he said he wanted."
you smile small, that's your animal boy.you will always get into your kids interest when you can. Dolores looks to the left and then looks at you.
"mami is looking for you. " she said before walking off.
you go off looking for your wife.
"(y/n) " you hear her calling you.
you go toward her voice and find her near your bed room.
"hey mi vida."you said
she smiles when she sees you. you walk over and peck her lips.
"we have to start getting things for Tonito's party." she said
"i already started the list." you said
she looks at you and smiles. you show her your list and she looks over it.
"God I love you." she said relieved you started planning.
"I love you more." you said.
She lets you know what's already ordered so you can check it off. You let her know some of Antonio's gifts are hiding in your office and need wrapping.
"your brother stopped by with some animal paintings he did. He said it's for Antonio's room." Pepa informs you.
You smile since your brother loves art like your mother did before her death.
"I got to make sure I go visit him later. Maybe I'll take Antonio with me." You said
Pepa smiles small.
"He loves his Tio." She said and you see a flash of pain in her eyes.
Antonio would have loved his Tio Bruno. You see a lot of Bruno in your boys. Camilo has the same sense of humor and Antonio loves animals like him.
"Amor.. if you want to talk about ... we can." you said
"Let's just focus on Tonito." Pepa said
You nod and kiss her head.
"I think I'm going to see if Dolores wants to go for a walk. She lent me a book and I want to see if she wants to talk about it." Pepa tells you.
"you girls have a fun time." you said
You go to the nursery and knock.
"Come in." you hear Mirabel said.
You walk in and see Mirabel measuring Antonio.
"Sorry to Interrupt.. I was just wondering if someone wanted to go see their Abuelo and Tio Tomas." you said
Antonio's eyes light up and he smiles big.
"Tio Tomas lets me paint with him and Abuelo always has sweets for me." Antonio said smiling
Mirabel smiles at her younger cousin and waves him off. Antonio quickly grabs your hand and starts pulling you toward the door. you laugh abit and keep up with your youngest child.
Antonio tells you all the fun facts of animals as you two walk in town toward your father's house. He waves at the people as he passes. You see some people whisper as you walk past and can't help but think of what's being said. you know people are probably gossiping about Antonio's birthday coming up. They probably wonder if it's going to be like Mirabel's gift ceremony or not.
You wish you can protect your son from the gift ceremony but how can you when the whole town is watching? You know Alma wouldn't let you keep Antonio from the tradition of the gift ceremony.
"Papi you are squeezing my hand." Antonio said
You loosen your grip and apologize. Antonio excitedly gets his hand out your grip the moment he sees your dad outside his house.
"Abuelo!" Antonio shouts.
Your dad smiles big and opens his arms. He hugs Antonio the moment he runs into his arm.
"Oh it's my boy." Your dad says happy.
"I've missed you." Antonio said laying his head on your dad's shoulder.
"I missed you too bud."
You head inside with the two of them. Your dad tells him all about the birds he seen today.
"Where Tomas?" You ask
"he went into town for paint." Your dad informs you.
You nod and just take in the sight of your son with his grandfather.
"Abuelo.. tell me about Abuela." Antonio asks
"Oh she was amazing. You have her smile Tonito like your papi. She was so kind to everyone she met. when she sang I swear the birds sung along with her. She would love you just as much as I love you." Your dad said looking at the curly haired boy lovingly.
Antonio smiles bright at your dad. You love moments like this.
