The Madrigal house is in preparation for tonight. Alma took charge while you help set up what you can. You go to your wife who you see is nervous.
"Dolores can you hear if anyone is going to be late?" she asks
"Doesn't seem like it Mami." Dolores said trying to reassure her mom.
You see Pepa pace and a tornado is starting as she gets nervous.
"My baby's night has to be perfect and it's not perfect. people are going to be coming and nothing is ready! the whole town will be here-"
"Pepi, Pepi, Pepita you're tornadoing the flowers." you warn
"did somebody say flowers?" Isabela's voice can be heard
you clap as she comes down a vine and fixes the flowers.
"Our angel." you say relieved.
"please don't clap." Isabela smiles
she makes a bouquet and hands it to Pepa who smiles.
"thank you." Pepa says smiling.
You hold your wife and you two head upstairs.
" you need anything amor?" you ask and kiss her hand.
"Antonio is changed already. I got him ready before checking on everything. I haven't seen him in a few minutes." Pepa said
"I'll get him amor. You just relax okay?" you said
She takes a deep breath. You start searching the house for your youngest child.
"Antonio!" you shout
You look at your watch and sigh. You know your boy is probably scared.
"Casita get Antonio please." you ask the house.
the floor board near you moves as if it says got you. You make sure everyone is inside and Pepa is waiting with Dolores and Camilo. There is a curtain up like a "backstage". Mirabel walks over with Antonio. You all cheer for your birthday boy.
"There you are." you smile at your son.
"Look at you- all grown up." Pepa tears up
You notice the cloud and push it.
"Mi girasol you are gonna get him all wet."
Camilo smirks and shifts into you.
"You make a your papa proud." Camilo said trying to mimic your voice
"I don't sound like that." you huff.
" 'I don't sound like that.' " Camilo mimics
Dolores tilts her head.
"Abuela says it's time." she passes the message along.
Pepa kisses Antonio on the head and looks at him lovingly
"We'll be waiting at your door."
"Okay okay Vamo, Vamo, Vamo." you said
Camilo again mimics you and you pull him with you. You all go to the top of the stairs and you hold on to Pepa as Alma goes on about the miracle. Your mind wanders about your child's future. Pepa squeezes your hand as she sees your face of concern. you bring her hand to your lips and gently kiss it.
The curtain moves revealing your son. everyone is clapping. You can see he's scared to move. You watch your son stick his hand out for Mirabel. You silently pray she supports her cousin. You let out a sigh of relief you didn't know you were holding as she walks to the young boy.
the two hold hands and walk up to Alma. you and Pepa hold one another as you watch Antonio.
"Will you use your gift to honor our miracle? Will you serve this community and strengthen our home?" she asks.
Antonio holds the candle looking at his abuela and nods. He lets go and touches his door knob. everyone is anxious. a toucan lands on him and you see your son smile.
"uh huh uh huh I understand you. of course they can come."
You all watch all the animals go to Antonio and his door lights up.
"we have a new gift!"
You kiss Pepa happily and she smile. You all go inside Antonio's room to celebrate. Music playing and everyone in town dancing.
"our boy has a gift." Pepa said happily.
she kisses all over Antonio's face happy. He giggles and smiles at his mom. Everything is perfect for your perfect boy.
You look at Alma as she is taking in the room with a big smile on her face. You make your way over as everyone is dancing.
"come on abuela show us what you got. Wepa " you said dancing
she smiles and dances abit.
"The house is in danger!" you hear and see your niece run over.
"the tiles was falling and there was cracks everywhere and the candle almost went out." she said
"show me." Abuela said.
You all follow Mirabel scared. Pepa squeezes your hand. She is terrified of your son's night being ruined.
"it's okay." you whisper in her ear.
Nothing seems to be wrong. Alma pushes everything as just strong drinks. She calls for music and Agustin comes to the rescue by playing piano. everyone heads back into Antonio's room to continue celebrating.
"Papi! Mami! dance with me." Antonio shouts over.
You and Pepa smile and dance with your youngest. You enjoy laughing and smiling with your family. You watch as the animals interact with Antonio and he had the brightest smile.
You know he's going to fall asleep just fine tonight. You stand back for a minute and just take in everything. The smile on your family's faces. Camilo is entertaining the towns people
with his gift, Dolores is dancing with Antonio and Pepa. That smile on Pepa's face that makes your heart feel warm and fuzzy. You hope nothing takes your family from you.
Once everyone leaves it's just you, Pepa and Antonio left in his room. He's in his hammock ready to sleep.
"Did you enjoy your party?" you ask
"Yeah. I'm happy with my gift. I love animals." Antonio said with a yawn.
"You did amazing Tonito. You made us so proud." Pepa said.
She kisses his head. Antonio smiles and struggles to keep his eyes open.
"Just get some sleep amor. we love you." you said
"I love mami papi." Antonio mumbles.
You smile and kiss his head. You and Pepa quietly leave his room and head to yours.
"Amor.. i think we did it. Our Antonio has a good gift. Nothing can go wrong with talking to animals." Pepa said
"Unless one gets hungry." you said
she slaps your arm.

"I'm sorry Amor. It's true. " you said putting your hands up.
"Well you better make sure no animal eats my baby or i'm killing you." she threatens.
"no animal will eat our child I promise." you said
