LATER THAT NIGHT, BRIAN FOUND himself going to the designated racing hangout spot. Stepping out of his car, he spotted a guy walking over. "Sweet ride. What you runnin' under there, man?" He asked. Brian didn't answer but simply smirked.
"You gonna make me find out the hard way?" The guy points to himself. "Hell, yeah." Brian responded. "You brave. You brave. They call me Hector. Got a last name, but I can't pronounce it." Hector informed Brian.
"Brain Spilner." Brian said, shaking Hector's hand. "Typical white boy name; you know what I'm saying." Hector said, leaning against the hood of Brian's car. "You see that over there?" Hector said, pointing to a car.
"That's mine. My baby, but I ain't cuttin' her lose tonight." Hector said. "Why not?" Brain asked, intrigued. "Cause I'm goin' legit, homey. Tryna get on the NIRA circuit. You heard about that?" Hector asked, eyeing Brian as he nodded.
"So what's up with you, man?" Hector asked. "I'm just waitin' for Toretto." Brian answered bluntly. "Shit, which one? 'Cause there's a line. This yours?" The guys said, pointing to the car. "I'm standing next to it." Brian told the guy.
"That's funny. You know, Edwin happens to know a few things. And one of the things Edwin knows is, it's not how you stand by your car. It's how you race your car. You better learn that." Edwin said while the car engine roared as Jules and the others drove in.
"Told you we'd see him again." Mia said, pointing to Brian, who was watching Jules leave her car. Jules shakes her head, puts her hands in the pockets of her oversized jeans, and walks over to Dom.
"Okay, Hector." Dom said, pointing to Hector, who has now walked away from Brian. "Yeah, what's up, man?" Hector asked, shaking Dom's hand, followed by Edwin doing the same thing.
"Edwin. How we doin' this tonight?" Edwin asked. "One race. Two-G buy-in. Winner takes all. Hector, you're holding the cash." Jules said, pointing to Hector while he received cash.
"Why Hector?" Some guy asked. "Cause he's too slow to make away with the money, man." Edwin joked. "You racin' too?" Hector asked Jules to take some of the heat off himself. "No. Now let's race." Jules said, bluntly.
Jules wasn't intending on racing that night, and she hasn't been for a while. Jules also knew that Dom would be racing, and she didn't want to lose.
"Hey, wait. Hold up." The familiar voice reaches Jules' ears. She looks to the side, seeing Brian with a pink slip in hand. "I don't have any cash, but I do have the pink slip to my car." He said, making eye contact with Jules.
