ROMAN AND JULES FOLLOWED behind Brian and Monica smoothly until Brian shifted gears, going faster. "What are you doin', Brian?" Jules heard Roman ask, trying to catch up to Brian's speed. Both cars stop just before running the light.
Jules turned her head to look at Brian, who was still smiling at Monica. "He did the "stare and drive" on you, didn't he?" Roman pressed angrily. Monica didn't answer. "He got that from me," Roman said, driving away as Jules snickered. "Doll, don't even. You wish that was you," Roman teased, and Jules leaned over, hitting Roman's arm as he laughed.
When they got to their destination, Monica had left them, letting the racers fend for themselves for their own safety. Jules walked out of the car, standing between the two men, seeing that the other racers were only men. Some guys whistled at her while she gave them a glare in return. Brian and Roman subconsciously took a protective step forward, keeping Jules behind.
"Hey, where did you get them cars, the bottom of a cereal box?" One guy taunts. Roman gave him a fake laugh. "Eh! Real funny, Fonzie." The guy's smile drops into a serious face. "Ass." Roman muttered, causing both Brian and Jules to smirk. A bald guy from the gate whistled while the other made a hand movement for everyone to come close.
The three racers started walking slowly, being aware of their surroundings. "Keep your mouth shut and follow my lead, all right?" Brian said it bluntly. "You don't own us, blondie." Jules said, not thinking. Jules noticed Brian tense at her words, making her mind race.
Brian shook his head. "No. I'm serious now." Brian said, looking down at the girl like his words were daring her. "Handle your business. I'll handle mine," Roman responded. When the three got to the gate, Jules watched the two dudes and security give Brian and Roman a pat down.
"You better hope there's a girl who can do this," Jules sneered, crossing her arms as the man got closer. "No, now-" "She's fine." A voice cuts the man off. Jules looked up, seeing Monica leaning her hands on a balcony. Jules sighed, giving Monica a curt nod as she followed behind Brian and Roman.
The two men ordered all the racers to stay put as Verone stepped forward. "Thank you for coming on such short notice. My red Ferrari was confiscated yesterday, and it sits in an impound lot in Little Haiti. It's about 20 miles from here. The car isn't important. What is important is the package I left in the glove box." Verone informed them, causing the three to look at each other.
"The first team back here with the package will have an opportunity to work for me." Carter explains. "So what do you say? We gotta audition?" A guy asked. "Nobody's got a gun to your head." Carter replied bluntly before leaving. Jules just caught a glimpse of what she signed up for.
"Driver's licenses. Pass 'em up." Jules handed Monica her license as the guy shouted 'go', causing the brunette to speed past the men like it was a cop chase. Jules jumped into the car as Roman and she sped off. Brian and Roman lead the group in front, trying to take down some others trailing behind.
