"BREATHE, BABY. BREATHE," Jules instructed as Brian's grip tightened on the steering wheel before he hit the gas for a split second and pressed on the brake. "You're doing better than I thought." She teased.
Brian sighed, putting the family van into park. Since London, the couple had kept a low profile. They had enrolled Jackson in kindergarten and were actively trying for a second child. Jules had also taken time out of her day to revamp their home into a more modern style.
"Alright. We made it, Jack," Brian said as Jules turned in the passenger seat to look at her son.
"Yeah, we made it!" Their son cheered, clapping his hands together. Being in the older preschooler stage of his life, Jack was now more aware and conscious of the world around him.
He was also the spitting image of Brian. From his long, dirty-blond hair, his gray-blue eyes, all the way to his love for cars, he was a perfect resemblance of his dad.
Although he carried a lot of Toretto traits, whether it was his strong attitude when he didn't get his way or the way he would place his tiny hand on his mom's leg when she bent down to his level. He was a perfect mix of both of them.
"Yeah, we made it," Brian said, less enthusiastically. "I just gotta find that door button. Jules, where's that door button at—"
Before Jules could make a move to reach her hand up and press the door button, another female hand with a gold ring on her middle finger reached into the car and pressed it first.
"Hi," she greeted with a big smile as her eyes were fully focused on Brian, while Jack's door slid open and Jules glared at the side of the woman's head.
"Yeah, of course." Brian said, swallowing as he felt Jules' murderous glare. "I'm new to this."
"Yeah, you don't seem like the minivan type." The teacher giggled as she moved to Jack's side and helped him out of his seat, and grabbed his backpack.
"Yeah," he chuckled, making Jules scoff. "Hey buddy, you didn't give me a high-five–" Brian called out to his son.
Jack gave Brian a sheepish high-five, sensing his mother's anger when the woman tried to get his dad's attention. "Love you, Mommy!" He blew kisses.
"Love you more, buddy." Jules blew the boy a kiss.
"Appreciate it, thank you," Brian told the teacher as the backseat door closed and he changed gears.
"Don't worry, you'll get used to this in no time." The teacher replied before walking off with Jack.
Brian muttered something Jules couldn't quite catch, but as they drove off, Jules let out a loud scoff and faced her husband. "I take it back. Jack should've been homeschooled." She grunted, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You're the one who said he needs to socialize and live a normal life. Like we did." He reminded her, looking between the road and her.
"Oh, please, you were team homeschool from day one." She snickered. "I mean, did you see the way she was staring at you? How she reached into this vehicle to show you how to use buttons, ugh, if Jack wasn't there, I would've done damage."
Brian chuckled and removed one of his hands from the wheel, taking the girl's hand in his. "I only have eyes for you." He grinned. "When we get home, I'll make it up to you."
A wave of warmth filled Jules' face as part of her body pulsed. "I'll see you to it." She challenged as she brought their hands to her face and pressed a kiss to the back of his.
In the next few weeks, the family of three had grown accustomed to their new routine of dropping Jack off at school. Since moving back into the Toretto family home, Dom and Mia would stop by constantly, helping as much as possible.
Jules and Mia watched from the doorstep as Brian walked down the sidewalk to their minivan. Jules smiled at the sight before moving towards them. "Well, look at you two." She teased. Brian smiled at his wife, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressing a kiss to her lips.
"Ew!" Jack chanted, throwing his toy car out of the vehicle as Mia yelled about some package on the doorstep from Tokyo, most likely from Han.
"Jacky," Jules said in a more serious tone as she buckled in her straps.
"Hey buddy, cars don't fly." Brian said, moving away from them to retrieve the toy.
"Hey, cars don't fly." Jack repeated, clapping his hands together as Brian placed to toy back into his son's lap.
"This one did, huh?" he teased as Jules let the two have their own moment.
The Toretto girl walked up to her siblings with a bittersweet smile. "Brian in a minivan. Things have changed." Dom told her.
"What's wrong, Juli?" Mia asked, catching Jules trying to give them her best smile, but it was easy to see through.
"He doesn't talk about it much, but misses the old ways." She revealed. "He's an amazing husband and an even better father, but I can tell it's not enough. I talked to him the other night, and he told me he doesn't miss the girls or the cars; he missed the...he misses the bullets."
It took everything for Jules to tell her siblings the truth. She thought she'd be able to snap Brian out of it and have him focus on the future, but when most of your life is action and thrill, how can you?
"Let him settle in. Give him time." Dom told her in his usual tone.
"You think nine months will suffice?" Jules asked, watching as her siblings' faces dropped slightly in shock. "I'm pregnant."
Mia pulled her sister into a tight hug and as she pulled back, held both her shoulders. "You two are gonna be just fine."
"And you didn't tell him, did you?" Dom asked, and Jules looked over her shoulder to look at her family. "You gotta tell him."
"I'm scared." She replied, looking back at them. "The last thing I want is for him to resent his life; to resent me.'
"He will never be disappointed with you. You're the best thing that's ever happened to him." He told her, pulling his sister into a tight hug.
"Thank you, Dom." Jules' lips formed a tight-lipped smile, and she walked back down the steps, heading to her family. "Are we all buckled in–"
"Get down!" Jules heard Dom from the van, and so did Brian.
Brian moved quickly, slamming the car door shut and pulling Jules down with him. The box that sat on their front porch had exploded and destroyed the whole house with flames in its aftershocks.
The couple was squashed against the car as Dom dove for Mia, tackling her to the ground. Jules' ears rang as she lifted her head to see the house destroyed and in flames, pieces of wood and glass scattered along the street.
"Jack," she muttered, lifting herself up. "Jack!" She raised her voice a little as she grabbed the door handle and quickly unbuckled her son, pulling him into her chest.
Jack cried at the destruction and loud noise as Brian wrapped an arm around them. "You're both okay. I've got you." He whispered, kissing them both.
From afar, Dom looked at the family and locked eyes with Brian.
