BEFORE THEY WENT BACK TO THE police station where Bilkins would be, Brian took a detour to Tej's Garage, with Roman and Jules following behind. "Man, Tej's garage is ridiculous. He's got the best of everything. Snap-on tools. All these lifts are brand new. They're only made a couple months old." Brian said, walking as Jules took in every detail.
Brian had told Jules about Tej and Suki briefly; the two seemed very important to the blonde. But now she'd have to meet them in a way she didn't originally want to. "Hey, yo, Jimmy." Brian called to a shaved-hair guy as they dabbed up.
"What up, Bullet." The guy, Jimmy, responded. 'What a coincidence.' Jules thought. Jesse and Jules were both hit by a bullet, and one of them died. 'Crazy,' Jules thought again. Brian had no clue about Jules' bullet wound, which shocked the girl as it was shown every day because of the clothes she'd worn.
"That's Rome and Jules right there," Brian said, pointing to the two people. "Do me a favour. When you get a second, I want you to check out the Evo and Spyder and make sure everything's copacetic." Brian told Jimmy. "Evo? Where'd you get an Evo from?" Jimmy asked.
Brian said some silent words to Jimmy before walking back to the two racers. "It's so hot and humid out here, I can't even wear no drawers." Roman complained. Brian laughed. "Yeah, tell me about it." "Look at all this potential out here." Roman gleamed, watching the people in front of him.
The three of them walked up, getting closer to who Jules thought were Tej and Suki. Roman stopped walking, leaving Brian to introduce Jules to two people he wanted to before everything. "Jules, meet Tej and Suki," Brian said as Jules took a seat beside Suki. "Nice to meet you." Jules said, shaking Suki's hand and giving Tej a curt nod.
"So, you're the girl Brian talked a lot about," Suki said, smiling. Jules gave her an awkward smile as Brian left the girl to go get Roman. "I know you and Brian ended, but that boy still loves you." Suki said to Jules. Jules felt a pang in her heart because she was still unsure of what she felt for Brian. "Well, I don't, not anymore." Jules responded through gritted teeth.
Brian and Roman walked up, making Jules stand up between the two. "Hey, Tej Parker. Roman Pearce." Brian introduced as the two men fist-pumped. "Basically, he's the man to know in Miami. He's got his finger in absolutely everything. It's just the way it is." Brian informed the two, staring down at Jules while he talked.
The blonde then greeted Suki again, asking for the latest as she flipped her sketchbook showing the three designs. "It's a work in progress. It's not finished yet," she said. "That's some artistic shit," Roman told Suki. "Might need you for my car." Jules smiled down at the girl, getting one in return.
Tej continued to yell, making Jules drift her eyes from Suki to the sea-doos racing. It was a different sight than what she was used to, but she liked how much fun it looked. Jules could only imagine the total bliss that came from the water, the sun, and the race.
"Jules, come on." Roman called, snapping the girl from her thoughts as she caught up to Roman and Brian, who were off to find Jimmy. "What's up, Jimmy? So you ever seen anything like this before?" Brian asked as Jules looked at the engine in front of her.
The engine had endless wires, almost as if you could blow yourself up. "No. Both of them are wired up like I've never seen before." Jimmy answered, walking away. "G.P.S." Jules said, figuring it out. "That's why Markham knew we were gonna be at that impound lot," Brian added, following Jimmy's previous actions.
"Yo, you the master mechanic. Why don't you just yank that shit up out of there?" Roman questioned him while Jimmy was looking at the other car. "I'll try, but this ain't LoJack. The D.I.S. box, the engine management system, hell, the main harness. The G.P.S. is spidered into all of that." Jimmy told the racers as Tej and Suki walked up.
"Hey, tell me somethin', man. Do I even want to know where the Skyline is, dawg? Or where you been the past couple of days? Or where the hell you got these rides from?" Tej asked Brian, looking between the blonde and the car. "They're hot," Suki complimented.
"Yeah, they hot. They wired so hot that whoever's trackin' these things will know every time you don't wear a seatbelt." Jimmy told everyone. Jules looked up at Brian, as did everyone else. "All right, Jimmy, just do what you can do, bro." Brian walked off with Jules and Roman behind him.
"Yo, check it out," Brian said, stopping. "You see that Cadillac across the street over there?" Jules looked around, spotting the car that held "Fonzie" and Enrique. "Yeah, well, they've been on us since we left Verone's house." Brian said, nodding to Roman. Jules went to follow Roman until Brian caught her arm, where she was shot.
Jules winced slightly as Brian gave her a confused look before looking at her arm. Brian took a sharp breath. "Come with me." He said, trying to hope he didn't see what he did. Jules shook her head, following Brian to the car to get Roman.
When they got close to Roman, Jules watched as he lit Roberto's and Enrique's car running towards Brian and Jules and hopped into the Evo. Roman laughed his ass off the entire way to find Markham and Bilkins.
