You can't pull it because you love me.

El and Max were sleeping peacefully, in their own beds of course. They had an argument a couple hours ago and had decided to not sleep over tonight. It's not like they were broken up, they were soulmates. Everyone knows that just by looking at them, they'll always love each other. But for now they just decided they needed space from each other. They're gonna see each other in school tomorrow anyway... right?

It was around 2 am when El's front door opened. A gust of wind rushed inside and the sound of the floorboards creaking disturbed the silence. Hopper had an overnight shift, and the poor girl was fast asleep. The sound got louder and louder, until it was right outside her bedroom door.

A wrinkly hand slowly turned the handle, and the door opened. Cold air rushed into the cosy bedroom, and the oblivious girl shivered slightly. The mystery person walked towards the bed, and put their hand on the girl' cheek. "Eleven." The voice whispered, "I finally have you again."

They pulled something out their pocket and put it straight into the poor girl's neck. It was a tranquilliser dart.

The person then picked up the girl and carried her over their shoulder. She had grown a lot since they had their last encounter, a lot stronger too.

Meanwhile, Max was asleep. By now it was 7 am. Her alarm on her bedside table had woken her up, so she groggily got out of bed before getting ready for school. She wanted to fix things up with El, so she rushed outside and quickly got on her skateboard.

By the time she reached the building, it was 8:30. The boys greeted her as soon as they saw her and she smiled. She picked up her board before walking up to them. "Hey guys. Where's El?" She asked.
"I'm not sure. We haven't seen her yet. She's probably late." Mike said.
Max nodded but felt like something was wrong. She couldn't explain the feeling, it was like something felt different.

They chilled out there for a while until the first bell went. Now it was 9. Half an hour had passed and still no sign of El? Normally Hopper would always make sure she was on time, early even. They stayed out there until a stupid teacher urged them inside.

At 1 pm it was lunch, and still no El. By now Max was overcome with worry, El didn't seem sick yesterday. "Max." Will put his hand on her shoulder, "You don't have to worry. What about this, we should head to El's after school. How's that sound?" He offered.
Max had a small smile and nodded, "Good. That sounds good."

Will nodded and took his hand back, they ate and got through the end of the school day. They all went back outside to the car park and waited for everyone else to be there too. Billy didn't pick Max up anymore, she preferred it this way anyway. She just had to be home by 7.

"Alright, now that we're all here, let's head to El's." Will said. They all got on their bikes and Max got on her skateboard.

Half an hour later, they had reached El's cabin. Nothing seemed different from the outside, Hopper still wasn't home it seems. Max put her skateboard on the side of the wall before heading up the stairs of the porch. She knocked the door but was surprised when it opened slightly.

"The doors unlocked." Max said, knowing for sure something was wrong.
"Maybe she forgot to lock it last night?" Lucas suggested, the boys walking up the stairs too.
"I don't think so." The girl said, pushing it open more before heading inside.

"El? Are you here?" She shouted. No answer. They headed to El's room, and that door was open too. But it wasn't the normal 3 inches, it was wide open. Max looked inside and saw the bed empty. The bed wasn't made, and El always made her bed.

Everyone rushed inside the room, her school bag was still beside her desk and her coat was still behind her door. "Where the fuck is she?" Max asked.
"Maybe she went out somewhere?" Dustin wondered.
"By herself?" Mike asked. Dustin just shrugged.
