Happy screams

A/N: very short story coz it's 5 am rn 😭

Max's POV:
I was bored at home, my mum was asleep downstairs and no one else was out today. I groaned and went on my phone, hanging upside down off my bed, my legs up against the wall.

I don't know why, but sometimes this position just hits different.

I was scrolling through TikTok, giggling at some of El and Will's old videos that for some reason kept popping up on my fyp, when suddenly I got a text from El herself. Weird timing.

Will just showed me what happy screams were! 😁

What's wrong?
I thought they were good?

I quickly slipped my shoes on and ran out my house, skating over to Will's house, where El and Hop now lived.

I knocked on their door and Will opened it, a confused look on his face. "Hey Max, why were you skating over here so fast?"
"El just texting me, saying you showed her what happy screams were!" I panted, putting my skateboard up against the wall.
"What's happy screams?" He asked.

I whispered what they were in his ear, and he paled. "Ayo, what?! First of all, I'm not into that incest shit, second I'm gay, and third you told El what moans where?!"
"Shhh Will! I didn't tell her what they were, I just said sometimes when Billy's alone with a girl they scream, happy screams."

"Ohhh, so that's why you quickly shut her down when Lucas asked what bad screams were."
"We don't talk about that. Anyway, where's El?"

"El!" Will shouted, and I saw El appearing from Will's room.
"Why's Mike outside your bedroom window?" She asked innocently as I laughed, watching Will blush and run upstairs, "Oh, hi Max! What are you doing here?" She asked, jumping down the remaining steps to give me a tight hug.

"You texting me saying Will showed you what happy screams were. I need context." I answered once we pulled away.
"Oh yeah!" She smiled, "We went to the playground and I got on the zip line. Will pushed me, and I screamed, but I was happy. So I did happy screams."

I laughed, flushing red. "Uhhh, I don't think you did."
"Yes I did!" She said, crossing her arms.
"That's not what they are. That's just normal screaming."
"Okay, what's happy screams then?"
"It's-" I quickly stopped myself, "Never mind."

She frowned, "What is it?" She asked.
"Maybe ask Hopper." I nodded, proud of my answer.
"Okay." She shrugged, pulling her phone out her pocket.

"Woah woah woah!" I said, stopping her, "Not when I'm here!"
"Why not?" She wondered.
"It's a very... private thing, and I've got nothing to do with it."
"But you told me what they were! You said when Billy is alone with a-"

"El!" I shouted, covering her mouth. "Do not tell Hop that when you ask him. He'll kill me."
She furrowed her eyebrows, looking down at my hand. I moved it away and she spoke up. "...fine." She answered, suspiciously. "Is it scary?"
"No, it's something you haven't learnt about yet though. Anyway, no more happy scream talk. Since I'm here, wanna hang out?"

She smiled, "Hell yeah."
