Max's POV:
El and I were sat on the floor of her bedroom. Tonight was game 'night'. Right now it's 5 pm. It's a thing we just made up on the spot, but I found a random card game at the store earlier so I thought we could play it.

"So, how does this work?" She asked, looking at all the cards sprawled on the floor.
"First we take turns drawing cards, and we have to answer them honestly." I answered, reading the instructions from the back of the box. I put it down, "There's also 'wildcards' but I'm not 100% sure what they are."

"That's concerning." She joked, noticing all the different levels they had written on the back.
"Exactly the reason I got it."
"How do we start then? Just, choose any level?"
"I mean... the rules say to start at level one." I told her.
"But when have you ever followed the rules?" El said, looking at me.
I smiled, "You know me too well. Here, I'll go first."

I grabbed a random card and turns out it was only level 2, so not too bad.

"What animal describes you the best, and why?" I read out.
"Uhh... I'd say a lion. A girl one." She answered.
"Okay, and why?"
"Because they're bitchin', I wanna be like that one day."

You kinda already are.

"My turn?" She asked me.
"Yep, all you." I nodded.

She grabbed a pink card which was also level 2.

"What's the hardest part about dating you?" She read.
"That's a question?" I asked, surprised.
"Yep, and you gotta answer honestly." El reminded me.

I don't like this game anymore.

I took a couple seconds to think before answering. I sighed through my nose, "Apparently I can be clingy."
"That's a bad thing?" El asked, her eyebrows raised.
"As far as Daniel was concerned, yeah."

Daniel was my ex, I honestly can't believe I used to like him.

"He was an asshole anyway, I wouldn't believe anything he says." She gave me a small smile.
"He was a dick, but he was kinda right. I mean- I know I wanna be clingy sometimes, but I think I just gotta find the right person, you know?"
"Yeah, I get what you mean." She nodded, setting the card down.

"My turn." I got a level 1 card, ugh how boring. "What's one thing you regret?"
"Umm... probably not shaking your hand." She answered.
"Really?" I asked, "Why?"
"Coz then we could've had more sleepovers." El smiled and looked down as she picked up a card. It was a level 3.

"What do you think my superpower is?"
"Telekinesis, duh." I replied.
"Not an actual power." She rolled her eyes playfully.
"Lemme think." I waited a couple seconds, "Being able to make people laugh."

"Oh, so you're calling me a joker?" She joked.
"I ain't calling you a truther." I said, quoting a show we watched at our last sleepover.
"Okay, 'Drake and Josh'." El responded sarcastically.
"... I thought it was funny."
"It was cute." She answered, as I picked up another card.

Cute huh?

It was a wildcard.

"What's it say?" El asked, curious.
"It says... look into each other's eyes for 30 second, what did you notice? Get another card after this one." I looked back up, "We can make it 30 seconds."
"Says the one who literally avoids eye contact at all times." She joked, getting up to sit on her bed.
"You know what- just start the timer." I said, sitting close in front of her.

She set a timer on her phone and it began.
The first 10 seconds passed with giggles.
20 seconds go by with smiles.
25 seconds pass in silence.
The last 5 go in ecstasy.
The alarm brought me back.

"So, what did you notice?" El asked me.
"Uh... I noticed that the sunlight makes your eyes change colour. They have a bit of gold. And, what about you?"
"How your shirt complements the blue in your eyes. Red is really your colour." She smiled slightly.

I looked down at my red T-shirt before looking back at El, a slight blush on my cheeks.

"My turn again right?" I asked.
"Mhm."

She used her powers to get a random card off the floor, not moving from in front of me.

I read it aloud, "What can I help you with?" A level 1.
"... you know, there is something I can think of." She replied, a small smirk growing on her lips.

It's not what you think.

"And what might that be?" I teased, still curious of what it could be.
"Well, we haven't moved from this position since the timer went off." She began, "But I was wondering who was gonna move."

IT MIGHT BE?!

"Um- we're thinking the same thing here, right?" I wondered. "Coz I mean, I can go back on the floor-"
"No-! No, I- I don't mean, move away." She blurted out quickly.

...that was stupid of me.

"I meant something more along the lines of..." She struggled for a moment.
"This?" I asked, my heart beating hard in my chest as I leaned in and placed a soft kiss on her lips. We pulled away a few seconds later and I blushed hard as she smiled.

"Yes, that... more of that." She finished.
I laughed and laid on the pillows next to her, "So, what shall we do now?"
She thought for a second, "We should make cookies while Hop's out." She replied, quickly getting to her feet and moving the cards on her desk with her powers.
"Good idea." I smiled, following her to the kitchen.
