El's POV:
Max and I have been dating for around 7 years now. We're both 21, and live in our own house. It's taken a while to get where we are, but we managed to do it.Lately, I've been noticing Max hasn't been coming home 'til midnight or even after that. Her shift ends at 10. Where could she be going?
My shift ends at 8, so I'm always home before her anyway. But she's never home for dinner anymore, she only slips into bed with me when I'm already fast asleep. I haven't asked her where she's been going, since she always seems to get defensive when I do.
Tonight though, I will ask her. I have a right to know where my girlfriend's going for hours every night. I didn't make dinner tonight, not like she's gonna be here to eat it anyway.
And just like I expected, she came home at exactly 1 am. She stumbled into the room, and I stood up from the couch. "Where the fuck have you been?" I asked.
"N-nowhere." She mumbled.
I looked at her, "Wait... are you drunk?" I asked. Max never touches alcohol, she hates it after her watching her parent's get addicted."Noooo." She chuckled, trying to head for the stairs.
I grabbed her arm, "What the hell's wrong with you? Why are you drunk?"
"I'm an adult, I can do whatever the fuck I want. Now leave me alone." She grumbled."Max." I said, "You never even drink alcohol let alone get wasted!"
"Shut up! So what if I got drunk? What are you gonna do about it?" She shouted, getting angrier.
"What are you getting angry for? Just answer my damn question!" I answered. She stepped closer to me, and I raised my eyebrows. All of a sudden, she slapped me right across the face. I almost lost my balance but luckily I didn't fall.
Tears entered my eyes as my cheek stung. "What the fuck!" I yelled.
"Shut the fuck up! Who do you think you are, speaking to me like that?" She came closer, and I backed away."Max-" I tried. But she cut me off my shoving me to the side, making me hit my side on the corner of the cabinet. "Ow fuck!" I screamed, lifting my shirt slightly. Blood slowly trickled down towards my hips, and I looked back up at Max.
We've been in arguments before, but this was definitely the worst one.
I quickly ran upstairs and packed a bag as fast as I could, scared she could come up at any second and hit me again. Tears pricked at my eyes and I quietly went back downstairs, trying to sneak out.
"Where the fuck do you think you're going?!" She shouted, noticing me.
"I'm leaving." I said, scared of what she'll do."YOU'RE NOT LEAVING ME!" She screamed louder than I'd ever heard her scream before.
She grabbed my bag and threw it against the wall, right above my head.I flinched, "P-please stop." I stuttered, overcome by fear.
"YOU ALWAYS DO THIS! EVERY TIME WE GET INTO A FIGHT, YOU RUN AWAY! YOU RUN AWAY FROM YOUR PROBLEMS!" She yelled.Suddenly, she stopped yelling and looked at me. "You know what you are?" I shook my head slowly, "You're worthless." She chuckled.
More tears escaped my eyes, "Stop." I whispered.
"Nobody will ever want you. I have no clue why I even wanted you." My heart shattered and Max stumbled into the kitchen, grabbing an empty glass bottle. My eyes widened, "Max, please. No-" She threw it at me, and it hit me directly on the shoulder. I fell to the ground, blood staining my shirt and glass all over the floor.
"Bitch." She said, lifting my head up by my hair.
"Max, please. Why are you doing this?" She slammed my head into the ground, the glass cutting me even more.I gave up trying to get back up, so I just stayed on the ground, sobbing.

Max's POV:
I woke up on the sofa, an agonising pounding in my head. I groaned and went into the kitchen, taking some aspirin.I walked back into the living room, and my heart dropped as I saw shattered glass on the floor. There was even some blood on the floor, and that made me worry 10 times more.
"El!" I shouted, "Babe, where are you?" I went upstairs, but she wasn't there. I looked everywhere, but she wasn't home. I looked at the clock. 12 pm.
She doesn't go to work until 2, where is she? I then heard a quiet knock on the door and I opened it. It was El.
Relief flooded through my body and I rushed to hug her. She winced and pushed me away, walking inside. She seemed to be looking for something.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Looking for my stuff." She answered sharply.
"What do you mean?" I wondered, grabbing her arm. She turned to face me, and anger pumped through my veins as I saw her lip bleeding and cheek bruised. "What the hell... who hurt you?" I asked, cupping her cheek. She shoved me away, "You."
My anger turned into fear, fear of what she was about to say. "...what?" I asked.
El looked at me with a hurt expression, "You hurt me Max. What else do you want me to say?"She turned back around and grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder. Her face formed into once of pain before she quickly moved the bag to her other shoulder.
"Let me see your shoulder." I said.
"No." She answered.
"Let me see it." I demanded, stepping closer.
I couldn't miss how she looked at me, fear evident in her eyes. I grabbed her flannel and revealed her shoulder, gasping as I saw the webbed cut on it."How...?" I wondered.
"A bottle. Turns out you can throw pretty well huh? Now let me go." She said, shoving past me.
"Wait wait wait." I said, blocking her quickly, "What the fuck is happening?!" I asked.
"I'm leaving." She explained.
"Why?" I asked."You really wanna know?" She asked.
I nodded, so she grabbed my hand harshly and closed her eyes. She used her powers to show me what happened last night.A minute later, I was back in our living room. Tears rolled down my cheeks. "Is that real?" I asked, her expressions from the night before still piercing my heart.
"What more evidence do you want?" She answered.I didn't answer, so she opened the front door. I quickly grabbed her arm, "El, please. Don't leave. I love you, I'm sorry."
She chuckled and shoved my arm away, "I don't care. I don't feel safe with you anymore Max."My heart flashed with pain, "I was drunk- I didn't know." I said, grasping at anything I could.
"You said you hated alcohol, and look what happened when you drank it. You know what? You're no different from Neil. I shouldn't have trusted you as much as I did."My heart broke, am really I the monster I was afraid of as a child?
"P-please." I begged.
"We can talk another time. I love you so much, but I need a break." She shook her head and walked out, slamming the door shut behind her.I sat down on the couch, going over what just happened. I got drunk. I hurt her. I made her bleed. El left me. I broke our trust. She still loves me. I still love her. She needs a break.
I put my head in my hands, how the fuck am I gonna get her back?
