Creds to Elmax4LifeAAAAA sorry I took a while but thank you so much for the idea 🫶🏼
Also I was thinking that I should probably start adding a music vid or a picture to sort of add to the scene more? I'm not sure but I like the idea. Also, the song Chicago inspired me for the setting and title of the chapter.

Max's POV:
Right now I'm on my way to Chicago. Why? No apparent reason, I just feel like it. I brought a car recently, and for once I have enough money to travel, so why not? It's only 3 hours away. So I got into my car and said bye to the boys before leaving.

The car ride was chill, I was just listening to my playlist while the roads weren't so busy. Around 2 hours into the journey, I decided that I should take a small break, since it was kinda boring alone. I might as well get something to drink while I'm here too.

I got off the highway and ended up parking outside a small but busy cafe. I got out the car, making sure to bring my phone with me.

Upon entering the cafe, I was immediately greeted with the strong smell of coffee, along with the sweet smell of cupcakes. I love coffee and cupcakes, but right now I just want something to drink.

I sat down at one of the tables, checking my messages while also thinking of what I wanna have. Probably just a normal coffee, not something fancy that ends up tasting shit.

Around 5 minutes later, I heard a voice near me. I quickly looked up and that's when I went into a panic.

A gay panic.

In front of me stood the most beautiful, most perfect woman I've ever seen.

"Good afternoon, what may I get you?" She asked politely.

Oh fuck, her voice sounds like heave- god Max, answer her you dumbass.

"U-um," I felt myself sinking into my seat as I couldn't think of anything to say, "What do you have?" I finally said. What do you have? For fucks sake.
She smiled and damn, I'm so down bad. I would've gotten on my knees then and there if she asked me to. "We have a large selection, with only the best quality of course. Come with me and I'll show you."

I nodded and stood up, following behind her. She was a couple inches shorter than me, and yet I was still like a lost puppy, willing to do anything this girl asked for.

She went back behind the counter where 2 or 3 more people were working. She pointed to the chalk board behind her where the menu was.

"We have americanos, lattes, hot chocolate, normal coffee, iced coffee, cappuccinos, espressos, milk-"
My eyes darted between her and the board, until eventually I gave up trying to understand those names. "I don't know what most of those are." I said, almost desperately.
"That's okay. What do you prefer?"
"Wha- huh?" I asked, completely confused.
"Oh, sorry. I'd didn't explain very well. Uh, do you prefer something strong like an espresso, or something sweeter like hot chocolate?"

"Um, something in between? Something that'll keep me awake."
"Well a cappuccino will give you a quick burst of energy. It's a key ingredient for an espresso, but it isn't as strong." She explained.
"Okay, I'll have that then please."
"Anything else?" She asked.
"Uh... no thanks."
She nodded, writing something down on her notepad. "Can I get your name?" She asked.
"Max. And yours?"
She looked at me for a second before smiling, "El."
"El. That's a cute name. Is it short for anything?"

"You're just gonna have to come back and I might tell you." She said, ripping off the page and walking to one of the machines.
"Come back?" I asked.
"Mmm. I don't just give my secrets out to strangers, Max." She smirked while I just thought of how good my name sounded coming out her mouth.
"So you're being like that huh?" I teased, my confidence finally coming back.
"Maybe. Is Max short for anything?" She asked while pulling levers.

"Give me your number and I might tell you." I copied, smirking.
A faint blush coloured her cheeks, "Smooth." She laughed.
"So?" I asked, waiting for her answer.
She looked at me and sighed before getting a napkin and writing something down. "Only coz you're a cutie." El said, sliding it to me.

I grinned when I saw it was her number, and I grabbed the napkin and folded it before slipping it inside my jean pocket. "Thanks." I said.
She smiled, finishing whatever she was doing on the machines. "No problem. Is your drink for here or to go?" She asked.
"To go. I'm going to Chicago."
"Cool!" She said, writing on the cup with a sharpie. "Don't forget about the napkin."
"I won't. Thank you." I said as she handed me the coffee cup.
"See you around Max."
"Bye El." I said, walking out the cafe.

I got back into my car and drove off, I have to get there before sunset at least. I tried the cappuccino and damn, it was so good, and I realised I hadn't seen what she wrote on my cup yet.

I turned it so I could see the writing and I smirked. This is what it said, 'To, Max' and under it said, 'Call me later cutie <3'.

Ay, she wants me 🤷‍♀️. I'm joking, maybe, but I'm definitely telling Lucas about this. Imagine his face when I tell him I got the cutest girl's number? I'll call her up when I get to my hotel. Maybe we'll be friends, or more. I guess I just gotta wait to find out.
