___________Wuxian was sitting on his bed trying to think of a reason why he and Wangji ended up in an alternate timeline. A timeline that had similar people to the people of their own world. He wasn't carrying anything on him that could result in such outcomes.
"Was it my Yin Hu Fu?" Wuxian questioned.
"What?" Wangji asked.
"How did we get here? How was falling from that cliff the reason we ended up here? I knew there would be a backlash to destroying the Yin Hu Fu but I didn't think it would ever take us to a different reality," Wuxian said.
"What kind of backlash?" Wangji asked.
Wuxian questioned, "does it matter? I am still alive apparently. So my theory on it killing me after destroying it was obviously wrong."
"What wanted to die?" Wangji asked.
"Lan Zhan, I lost everything. I no longer had any fight left in me. My parents, Lotus Pier, the Dafan Wens, my Shijie. I gave up my cultivation because I felt I wouldn't even be a cultivator if I wasn't taken in by the Jiang Sect. Madam Yu made it clear from day one that I wasn't her family. I was only there to support her children and I did that. The last thing Jiang Fengmian said to me was to watch over his children, he didn't care about what happened to me. I have grown up thinking my life has little to no value. So how do you expect me to just say I want to live when I have nothing to live for?"
Xiao Zhan had come to check on the boys and as a psychiatrist he felt that he wanted to talk to Wuxian for a bit about how he felt. He heard everything Wuxian said. He sighed and knocked on the door before entering.
"Sorry to interrupt," Xiao Zhan said.
"It's okay," Wuxian said, wiping some tears away.
"You don't have to hide from me, I am a doctor who specializes in mental health, and if you are okay with it, I would be willing to listen to you," Zhan said.
"You heard what I said just now?" Wuxian asked calmly.
"I didn't mean to overstep," Xiao Zhan said, "and I have to say this. You grew up with a severe amount of neglect and abuse. It's natural for you to believe that you have no worth as others around you made it clear to you that you didn't. The truth is, everyone has their own special place in this world, and you just need to find out what your place is. As a doctor and friend, everyone in this house is willing to help you get you back on your feet and get your confidence back. It takes time but you will be much stronger when you believe in yourself."
Wuxian nodded, "what is your family like?"
"They are kind," Zhan said, "my mother passed away the day I was born, and my father remarried to someone new a few years later. She was not my favorite person in the beginning because I felt that she replaced my mom. I resented her. Her daughter, who is also my older step sister, is the reason I gave her a chance. She is like a real sister to me and because of her, I gave my step mom a chance. Then my little brother was born and I had to get used to having another sibling. I then realized that I would have another friend to play with when he grew up. So my family is a bit of a mess but I say it's a beautiful mess."
Wuxian giggled, "can I meet them someday?" He asked.
"Sure, my sister just had a baby so she could use more company," Zhan said, "she'd treat you just like a brother. I guarantee it. Same with Wangji. She is very friendly and an amazing cook. She taught me how to cook and I am teaching Yibo to cook."
"I wonder," Wangji said.
"What?" Wuxian asked.
"Wang Yibo's brother looked like Xiongzhang, what if Xiao Zhan's siblings look like yours?" Wangji asked.
"I have pictures of them," Zhan said, taking out his phone.
"What is that?" Wuxian asked.
"It's a device that we can communicate with others and take pictures and do a lot of other things on," Zhan said and pulled up a picture of his siblings, "these are my siblings Xuan Lu and Zhou Cheng."
"Shijie?" Wuxian questioned.
"Huh?" Zhan asked.
"Wuxian's sworn sister...recently passed away saving him from getting hurt," Wangji said, "she looks like the woman here."
Zhan put the phone away, "I am sorry."
Wuxian shook his head, "it's alright. It's a long story."
"Well, when you two are comfortable, Yibo and I would love to hear your story and how you ended up here. Maybe it can help you get home," Zhan said.
Wuxian nodded, "is it okay if I take a couple days to recover first?"
"Of course, take all the time you need," Zhan said, "I am going to start lunch with Yibo. One of us will come get you when it is ready."
"Thank you," Wangji said and watched him leave. He then turned to Wuxian, "are you sure you are okay?"
He nodded, "maybe this is a chance to see her one more time."
"I am sorry she passed away," Wangji said, "I wish I knew how she ended up on that battlefield to begin with."
"Someone must have told her or brought her there," Wuxian said, "if that's the case, when we return I will not let that person live if I find out someone deliberately wanted her dead."
"I will fight with you, you aren't alone anymore," Wangji told him.
Wuxian nodded and crawled into the bed with Wangji, "mind if you hold me?"
"Will always hold you," Wangji replied. Wuxian giggled and snuggled closer to him.
