When Wei Wuxian was thrown into the Burial Mounds by Wen Chao, he spent three harsh months just living in the remnants of the dead. Resentful energy filled the place. Wei Wuxian once heard it was a beautiful place before it became a massive grave site. While being confined in the Mounds, was when Wei Wuxian first came across the cave he loved it for most of his time in the mounds. Even when he was there with the Wen Remnants, he lived there.
While he was there, he came across a wall within the cave that had a secret hole hidden behind a large stone slab. Inside the hole, was where he found his current scriptures on talismans and charms. He even found a scripture specifically on Resentment itself. He was sitting down at the dining table with his things scattered around him.
Lan Xichen was informed of this new discovery and came by with Wen Qing and Wen Ning. Haikuan had to work as well as Zhan and Yibo. Fanxing was with Lan Xichen so he could play with A'Yuan. Wen Ning actually spent more time watching the two boys and if they needed anything, he'd let the others know.
"So this stuff just appeared?" Wen Qing asked.
"Yes, and It's been a while but, Xichen-Ge, this is Nie Huaisang's penmanship right?" Wuxian asked showing him.
"It does look like his," Xichen replied, "you for your swords and flute back. You even have your scriptures now. Maybe we can find something to help us get home."
"I need to ask you something first," Wuxian said.
"Of course," Xichen said.
"I know it is a big ask and if Wen Qing and Wen Ning do not want to I understand but are they welcome in Cloud Recesses as I am?" Wuxian asked.
"Of course," Xichen replied, "I will do what I can to help you all."
"I just wanted to ask. Though I do not know Wen Qing and Wen Ning's plans," Wuxian said.
"Well, I guess I do not mind being in Gusu, I can help with your people in the infirmary if you want," Wen Qing suggested.
"Sure, you are very knowledgeable in your work and you are a good healer. I think you'd be a good fit for the sect," Lan Xichen said.
Wuxian sighed, "you two are doing it again," he said, "flirting."
"Wei Wuxian, when I get my needles back, best you sleep with your eyes open," Wen Qing warned.
Wuxian laughed, "If you wish to see my nightly activities with Lan Zhan, by all means, come watch."
Wen Qing stared at him, "You two do that every night?"
"It's beneficial...specially when we became soul bonds the last time we did it," Wuxian said.
"Are you sure?" Wen Qing asked.
Wuxian glanced at Wangji. Wangji nodded and let Wuxian explain, "at least we think so. We dual cultivate often which helps with my new core. This time though, it was like our energies connected. Now, Lan Zhan and I can read each other better, I can sense his emotions and he can sense mine, and we can even tell if the other is in pain or not."
"It seems to me like you become soul bonds," Wen Qing said, "the more you two are intimate and trust each other, the more you two will be connected. Plus your new core has similar properties to Wangji's energy as it was him who helped you create a new one. Being in love and having complete trust in each other is another factor to becoming soul bonds."
Wuxian nodded, "so we will only become more connected?" Wuxian asked.
"Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if at one point you can hear each other's thoughts and communicate telepathically," Wen Qing told them.
Wuxian nodded, "well, thank you for clarifying."
"A'Xian, you will be safe with Wangji," Xichen said, "not only will he do everything he can to protect you, I promise you that I will protect you as well."
Wuxian sighed, "thank you," and scanned his scriptures on the table. As he looked over them, one book caught his attention. He grabbed it and once he opened the cover he saw that this book was the key to getting them back home. Not only that, but there was a name on the book that was the original owner to the book, "Baoshan Sanren?"
"What?" Wangji asked.
Wuxian showed Wangji, "this book is has a note written inside the cover. It says it's property or Baoshan Sanren. This book is on portals, communication charms, and teleportation."
Wangji looked at what Wuxian was pointing at, "where did you come across these books?"
"When I was first thrown into the mounds by Wen Chao. I found a cave and took shelter there. I found a hole in the wall behind a stone slab. I felt that the books would come in handy," Wuxian explained.
"That cave was where you lived during your stay with the Wens," Wangji pointed out.
"Yes," Wuxian said, "why would Baoshan's books be hidden away inside the mounds?"
"Maybe you were meant to find them," Wangji replied.
Wuxian nodded and looked at the talisman that was in Jin Guangyao's possession. He then looked through the book to find anything that he could on the scriptures of the talisman. He then came across a page that had everything to do with the talisman in his hand, "since the letter said Jin Guangyao is dead, I won't know where he got this information for this talisman when my things were sealed away. This page here shows this exact talisman. It's a portal talisman that will lead you to a modern society alternate reality."
"Even if he was alive, I am not sure if we would get answers out of him," Xichen said, "he is cunning and knows how to talk his way out of any situation."
Wuxian sighed, "right...but since this is a talisman to here, there should be one that will take us back, right?"
Wangji and Wuxian looked through the book carefully. It was like the page was missing as there was a spot where a page was torn out of the book. Wuxian sighed, "well, I can read through the pages about this portal talisman and maybe I can find a way to reverse it. Now that I have all my notes back, I can have a better chance of getting a solution."
"Alright, just please do not overwork yourself," Wangji said, "I will step in otherwise."
"Alright, alright," Wuxian said, "I will be careful."
"Good boy," Wangji said.
