Later the following day, Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo sat down with Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. They were hanging outside as it was a nice day. They grouped under a large tree and relaxed there. Xiao Zhan wanted to check on Wuxian to see how he was doing after his night of nightmares. From what it seemed, Wuxian was more clingy to Wangji than he had ever been so far. Wangji didn't mind it though. He liked holding Wuxian and if it helps Wuxian calm down, then it's just more of a reason to do so.

"How are you feeling?" Zhan asked Wuxian.

"I am doing better," Wuxian replied, "are you sure you are not upset with me waking you?"

"Not upset," Yibo said, "Zhan-Ge and I were still awake anyway."

"Ugh...why? Wasn't it like three in the morning or something?" Wuxian asked.

Xiao Zhan glared at Yibo hoping to keep their private lives private, "oh, you know, everyday stuff," Yibo said.

Wangji let out a chuckle as he understood. Wuxian sat up and looked at Wangji, "You find that funny?"

"Mnn, sounds like us," Wangji said.

Wuxian pouted, "can we not talk about our sex lives?" He asked.

"I agree," Zhan replied and continued to glare daggers at Yibo.

"Oh come on, I am just saying that we did not mind. We were not woken up and these nightmares can happen," Yibo said.

"Could you be a little more sensitive about this?" Zhan asked.

"Sorry," Yibo said, "this is more your field of expertise, not mine."

"Ugh, do you two need a moment?" Wuxian asked.

"No," Zhan said and looked at Wuxian, "have you had any bad dreams aside from last night?"

"That was the first one I had since being here," Wuxian said, "it probably has something to do with all the information that we have been getting. We are probably close to going home but I just have my worries."

"What are you worried about most when you are to go home?" Zhan asked.

"We won't know if the fighting is still going or not. The entire cultivation world was against me and I have every right to be scared. Just having a handful of people to stay at my side...I am afraid to lose them or they will get hurt protecting me. People were just finding out what really happened when Zewu Jun came here," Wuxian explained and he was getting more worked up as he ranted, "Jiang Cheng hates me, his uncle despised me even before I took up demonic cultivation. I am suddenly supposed to be convinced that they will all change before I go back? What if they—"

"Wei Ying," Wangji said calmly as he cut him off. Wuxian's thoughts were getting out of control and Wangji knew how to get him to calm down a bit. All it really took was for Wangji to get the man's attention, "You need to breathe. There is no telling when or if we will go back. We are here for a reason and still here for a reason. Wen Ning and Wen Qing are still alive for a reason, and Xiongzhang is here for a reason. With Xiongzhang here, he knows the truth about everything. He won't let this all happen again. He is on our side."

Wuxian took in a deep breath and exhaled, "will he stay that way?"

"Wei Ying, Xiongzhang will not make the same mistakes. He will be here later today and we can sit down and talk to him. We need to talk about this all with him. He is also the one who is able to reason with Shufu the most. I am not letting you go alone anymore. Never again," Wangji told him.

"We may not be able to follow you, but we are here for you now," Zhan said, "and we are here to support you and we have the resources to help you with your post trauma. Since it is still unknown whether you are heading home soon, just spend this time to rest...let me ask you, what was your reason for your actions that led you here?"

Wuxian sighed, "I just wanted to help people. They were innocent people, elders, and young children. Families who barely could afford to pay for food for their children. These people were forced to live under someone who was a tyrant. Everyone else just became selfish and greedy. They lost their purposes of what a cultivator really is. We all grew up on different sects and families but we all still have the same values. Yes we want to protect our families but a cultivator's life is about helping others who need it most that are unable to do what we can," Wuxian explained, "I never cared for power, money, or recognition, I just wanted to help those I cared about while holding up to a promise I made long ago."

"What promise?" Yibo asked.

"Curve the violent, assist the weak, live with a clear conscience and have no regrets," Wangji replied.

"You remembered?" Wuxian asked.

"Mnn, It was a promise made while making lanterns, remember?" Wangji reminded.

Wuxian giggled, "I made you smile for the first time. You wanted to attack me with Bichen right afterwards but it was still a moment to remember," Wuxian said.

"I did like the drawing you made on the lantern," Wangji said.

"Do you like to draw?" Zhan asked.

"It's fun to do occasionally," Wuxian said.

"Huh," Yibo said, "that is interesting."

"What is?" Zhan asked.

"Wuxian likes to draw. You said if you did not get into being a doctor, your second choice for a career was an artist. It's just another thing you two have in common," Yibo said.

"I guess so," Zhan said and looked at Wuxian, "would you like to get into drawing more?"

"Um, I suppose so," Wuxian said.

"I have some old unused sketchbooks you can have. If you want to draw, you can do that anytime," Zhan said.

"Really?" Wuxian asked, "can I draw Lan Zhan with a flower in his hair again?"

"Wei Ying," Wangji said, "you are close to getting punished."

"Why, did you not like the drawing?" Wuxian asked.

"I...still have it," Wangji said, "it's in my Jingshi."

"Really?" Wuxian asked.

"I still have those rabbits too," Wangji said.

"You kept them," Wuxian said happily, "I knew you liked rabbits."

"I guess that is because I like a very big rabbit," Wangji said looking at Wuxian.

"I am not a rabbit," Wuxian said.

"Yes you are," Wangji said.

"No I am not," Wuxian argued.

"Mnn, if you say so," Wangji said and smiled. There was obviously still a lot to deal with but the two did need to speak with Lan Xichen about their worries of going back home.
